The first thought that came to her mind? Well, you could say it wasn’t pure joy. It was a pesky task; an academy student could do it. Assisting the librarians to organize a new shipment. Not that Jai-Lin didn’t welcome it; she would be happy to help. But was her time not more valuable? There was a lack of ninja around lately; those chunnin exams. The thought put a suck punch into Jai’s gut as she made her way up the mountain to the library. Just living in Kumogagure was an obstacle; the incline itself was a pain to its elderly. But that was of no concern to her. The fact that she evaded the chuunin exams was.
Why hadn’t she gone? Jai-Lin no doubt had improved. The girl had learned the art of the sword even; and increased her Katon arsenal. She couldn’t make up in her mind which was more important to her; although mastery was not the most prominent though in her mind; at least it would not be until she started to learn more complex jutsu. She kicked a rock at the side of the library; it bounced zealously of the cement side, rolling off to a place she didn’t care of.
The old doors creaked open with a push, and immediately she coughed in reaction to the dust. She paused long enough that the doors came close to smacking her. She decided she should probably move. Eyes search the room, she found an old woman that seemed to know what to do. Her hair seemed to fray out in no particular direction, and reading glasses that increased the size of her beady black eyes.
“Excuse me mam’,” Jai commented with a smile, “I’m here to assist the new ship-”She tried to speak, but she was cut off.
The woman turn back automatically; as if she were a snapping turtle, she snapped at Jai. “HOW COME YOU YOUNGINS ALWAYS ASSUME I WORK HERE?” She shouted in rage. Jai-Lin jumped back slightly in retaliation as the woman continued to rant. Jai's cheeks flushed as red as her scarf, or the lining of her uniform. She hated when people yelled at her.
