Now, this mission was the one that she was concerned about.
But, she was sure that she could take it on- A couple had asked shinobi to go out and look after their kids whilst they were having a nice night out for once, which seemed alright, really. She could handle that- Although she had no previous experience with changing nappies when needed do she figured that she could try it out if the moment came- After all, she had seen movies before with families where the mother put nappies on her kid- It isn’t that hard, right? She hoped it wasn’t, since she might potentially be doing it tonight when the adults were away. So, walking along the path, she was in quite a quiet part of town, and the houses were nicely built up after the war had ravaged through a few of them. It was no doubt a restoration block of houses.

”49.. Aha, here we are!” she’d murmur to herself as she’d soon come near a home, it wasn’t all that different to the others except that it had hanging baskets in the front, which was quit a nice touch, really. Knocking on the door three times, she would then await for the door to be answered by whoever she was being hired by today. It wasn’t long until the door was opened, revealing a woman wearing quite a nice dress, one-handedly attempting to put an earring in whilst the other held on to the handle of the door. Releasing it from her grip, she’d then go onwards to put the back of her earring in, and would invite Areru in to the house- Inside, it was very neat, although the two adult seemed to be in slight panic getting ready.

”Thank you for helping look after our baby whilst we’re gone!
Her name is Hazuki, she usually gets to sleep within the next hour or so but before that you need to feed her- OK? It’s simple enough.”

By no means looking after a baby was simple, but the couple were looking forwards to leaving the house for one night and were madly moving around, making sure that everything was in its place so that they could leave safely with the baby being looked after by the shinobi that they had paid for. Like some kind of whirlwind the couple soon left with the door closing gently after them, as she could hear the key turning in the lock- So, she was now supposed to go and get this baby? Alright, Hazuki, Hazuki, Hazuki, Hazuki.. attempting to remember the name she would move to the living room where the baby was cooing adorably in some kind of bouncing chair-like contraption- The child wasn’t exactly a baby, more like a toddler, really, but she could handle it.

The child would look over at Areru with curious eyes as the near-black haired girl would kneel down where the baby was, and would begin to make silly faces towards it- She hadn’t exactly done this before but she had seen people do it before and getting positive results from toddlers but, she was hoping that it would work now. And, it seemed to work to her advantage as moments later the child would begin to laugh, grinning from cheek to cheek at the antics that Areru had pulled- Oh how very simple. It seemed that as a child one could be entertained by anything. She herself could be entertained by anything, really, but, it seemed that children would laugh at anything given the chance to do so. Continuing to grin stupidly she’d keep making silly faces towards the girl, wondering what to do with her next- She needed to be fed before bed, right?

Alright, so that’s what she was going to do. Nodding to herself as her so-called plan had been created, she would then open her arms somewhat and lift the gurgling baby from where she was, she reacting a bit confusedly before Areru would then draw her closer, and pick her up, lifting her own legs up. She was quite heavy. With the child in hand she would then walk towards where she would suspect was the kitchen- black and white tiles with a matching coloured wall and equally matching countertops- she’d place the child down in the high chair so that she could keep her still when she was getting her food out. Having placed her down Areru would now, with free hands, move over to the countertops where a bowl of baby food had been already set up for her, the empty glass jar for it being near.. It was porridge, as she could tell by looking at the label, and to be fair, it looked plenty lot like porridge too.

So, with the spoon in hand, she would walk over to the child and would then dip the spoon in the bowl, and would then gently put it towards her mouth, where she opened up, as it then allowed Areru to spoon-feed the young toddler. She was quite young and no doubt had gone on to a few solids, but this was porridge, so she figured that spoon-feeding her was what the parents usually did, and that it would make less of a mess, probably. There was a bit of a mess on Hazuki’s face where the porridge had touched her cheeks and lips while being fed but apart from that, no mess, and that made Areru content- It meant she didn’t have to do any extra work around the house whilst the parents were gone, which was all good.

This time, dipping the spoon in, she would make sounds effects of what would appear to be a plane. ”-Here comes the plane! Whooo!” she’d tell the baby in the stereotypical high pitched baby voice that adults did when speaking to their children to keep them interested in what they were doing- Hazuki was obviously quite interested with this and watched with intent as the spoon flew around her before Areru would then once more, dip the contents of the spoon in to Hazuki’s awaiting mouth. Reacting with a pleasant smile the porridge would be consumed and it would leave only a few more spoonfuls of the mixture left until there would be none left. This process of feeding would continue for about five or more minutes, before the bowl was done. Taking out a bottle of milk from the fridge she’d hand it to Hazuki, before going to the kitchen sink with the bowl and spoon.

Washing them, it wouldn’t take too long for her as she was quite proficient in washing up dishes after taking charge of doing so at home, being the only female around the place, and seeing as her brothers were quite busy most of the time. But, after that was done she’d place them on the drying board, unsure where to put them after that, and would turn her attention back to Hazuki who had placed the bottle on the table of the high chair, uninterested in it. Grinning to her stupidly and making babbling noises, she would watch as Hazuki would react the same, as she almost seemed as if they thought they were having some kind of baby-language discussion. Picking her up, the last step left now was to simply send her to bed.

So, upstairs, right?
Nodding her head slightly she’d move out of the kitchen after placing the bottle back in the fridge where it had come from, and would then begin to scale the stairs carefully with Hazuki in her arms- To be fair the girl had been quite nice today and hadn’t been one of those stereotypical bratty toddlers who throw things about. She was glad because it meant that the job was easier for her, and she could go watch TV in the next room whilst she was sleeping. ”Now now, nap time for Hazuki..” she’d tell the child in hushed tones as she’d enter the nursery which was tastefully decorated in purple with a white trim to it. Looking around she’d find no problem finding the cot, where she would then lie the child down in.

The parents had already changed the baby in to her pyjamas so there wasn’t more that she could do for her. It was a warm night, so there wasn’t really a need for anything like a blanket, and she had heard that they could be dangerous to kids anyway so she didn’t want to take the risk. Watching as Hazuki would look at her, grin, and then lie down, she would but return the cheeky grin, as she’d watch the child slowly drift off after having a nice yet blended meal of Porridge and milk. Looking above slightly she would notice a kind of spinning mobile with little birds all over them. She would gently spin the mobile, causing the birds to almost fly around in a circle, as the child looked onwards with eyes that were soon to shut.

Hazuki’s eyes would open and close a few times before then staying shut, as she would soon be in a deep sleep. Although, just to make sure that she was indeed asleep Areru stayed there for a further few minutes, looking at the child as she slept, glad that she had gotten the work out of the way. So, with that done, she would turn the baby monitor that was in the cot on, and would place it near Hazuki, before then walking out of the room, and turning the lights out- She could now go watch some TV! Finally, after a whole few hours of looking after the child she could kick back and rel- CLICK CLICK Now on the landing, she would look downstairs at the door to see the handle moving. It wasn’t soon until two figures made their way in, the couple themselves. Looking up at Areru they would give her a smile. ”Is she asleep?” the woman would ask in quiet tones, wondering if she had looked after her child well.

”Yes- She was no problem tonight.” she’d tell the parents as they seemed to respond quite gladly to learning that their child wasn’t a trouble maker or a pest when it came to baby sitting- Perhaps they could hire more people to look after her now? Nodding her head Areru would then walk downstairs quietly making sure not to make too much of a noise, and would walk beside the couple, as she would speak: ”Thank you!” before taking her leave. The mission had been done, the baby had been take care of, so now she could go on to cross another mission off the list that she had performed. But now- Were the slightly tougher ones. She could, no doubt however, do them correctly. Or she hoped that she could. Exiting the house, she’d walk out to the village once more.
