Undisclosed Compound.

Originally part of a top-secret government building, this area is found miles below ground and was first and foremost an underground lab for the genetic advancements at the time. From curing the common cold to attempting to elongate lifespan, this place has seen years and years of testing, may it be on animals or humans. As the village derailed during the first shinobi war and the entire place was evacued, so was this centre, all of its secrets left. Of course, during the evacuation period important documents and items had been taken out, but several years passed and what was left had been preserved, the entire place almost as if it was frozen in time. After having been re-discovered, a Kusagakure medical shinobi chose to convert it for her own use. Conveniently linked to the atrium itself, by inserting a certain key in to a secret panel within the lift, solely the medical shinobi herself, Kikkawa, Blanche can access it. Once approaching the floor of the compound, the doors open and the user is met with a 20m hallway which still bears the peeling and aged decorating of the years gone by. Finally; the door itself is the original, being industrial enough to keep people out and to stop things in it from escaping easily. The door requires a series of three keys, each of which can be found with Blanche herself. Failure or struggle shown during this trial can easily set off traps around the door itself, which is currently being worked on. Upon successfully opening the door, one is granted entry to the secluded place. The place has since been done-out personally by the woman herself, its interior matching that of the hospital in Kusagakure to give it less of a creepy basementfeel, bearing pure white walls and smooth black tile on the floor, reflecting whatever it holds. However, the building isn’t simply an underground lair of sorts, to her it’s a home, or at least the only home she’s comfortable to sleep in after her own was destroyed after the first shinobi war. Given the fact that there are five rooms within the compound all on the same level, one is made out as a bedroom, bearing a bed, wardrobe, TV and everything else you’d expect to find in an average house. The other rooms hold different purposes, bearing operating tables, beds with privacy curtains attached around them for any potential visitors or patients, and one even bears body tanks filled with a strange liquid which can be used in line with her medical work.

The most used room within the compound itself is one which bears an operating table in the middle, and several tanks to the sides which could be used to hold bodies. Counters also line the walls, each holding medical equipment within its drawers which might be required with surgeries. Within the cabinets on the walls medical textbooks that she’s bought fill each compartment, along with some obscure bits of machinery, the purpose of which, unknown. The perfect haven for the Kikkawa, due to the secrecy of the place and the fact that she cherishes it as it gives her that little bit more privacy as she can easily escape to the base and unwind. Given that the only way to enter the compound is through the lift in the atrium, it’s otherwise impossible for people to break in unless they’ve been told explicitly by the woman herself of another route. Truthfully, whilst the main route is through the lift of the atrium, there is another way built for emergency escapes, which can be found with a secret panel within her bedroom, but no-one except for the lady herself is understanding of that. Truly a captivating place when inside, the secrets within the compound have no limits, and yet the work done here groundbreaking.

ENTER FROM ATRIUM!

As the lift blazed past the several floors that lay between the atrium and the compound itself, the ANBU in the corner stood vigilant, appearing to stare at the wall as I myself stood, my expression solemn as I waited to reach the floor that I required. It continued to go down, leading me to sometimes forget exactly how long the journey took just to reach the place. But- It was good as it meant that it was slightly more hidden, or at least, with the lift as the only viable entry it was near impossible to access it otherwise. And even the other way it would take much, much longer given the journey that would need to be taken. The lift soon coming to a halt, the ANBU then opened the doors, and with an acknowledging nod I’d then exit, beginning my journey through the passageway itself. It wouldn’t take me too long to clear the distance, and when faced with the door, I’d remove each near-identical key from my body, inserting each one in succession to the last before I’d hear the heavy mechanism to the door click as the series of locks within unfroze, allowing me entry. Shutting the door tightly behind me after entering and placing the keys back, I’d then gently press my hand against a few light switches on the wall, as the once dark, disturbing looking lab soon lit with life, appearing quite modernistic in contrast with the appearance of the shabby hallway outside. Gazing over at the various equipment in the room, I’d move towards the area which looked most like the hospital, having its own theatre as so to say, an operating table and chair with a grand lamp above it to light the scene whilst metal tables on wheels lay on the floor ready to be used, each bearing sterilized medical tools. It was the same equipment in the hospital that I’d borrowed for my own use.

They were pretty much fucked if they thought I’d return it someday.
That shit was technically mine anyway.

Ready to start, I’d then raise a hand, my finger gently touching the area on my upper neck where the Hiraishin mark could be found, as I waited for Sora to make his grand entrance to my abode.

The signal was feint, but I felt Blanche calling me almost the very instant she touched the seal on her neck. It was a useful ability, no doubt; one that, just as easily as she touched her own flesh, alerted me that I was needed. Having already gathered all that was needed for this impromptu meeting, all it took was a simple thought to bring me directly to Blanche. I did just that - only, however, I wasn't alone this time.

Perched steadily upon my shoulder was a corpse of a young man, his body, though rigid and still, looking almost as if he had just recently died. Without a word being said, I tossed the corpse onto one of the many metal tables that filled the room. From there, still silent, I found my way back to Blanche; I seemed different, almost as if I was more withdrawn than usual.

"Lets get this over with." Discarding my kimono, I moved onto the operating table and laid down. I was shirtless now, so the rather cool surface of the table sent shivers running throughout my body. "Don't get any ideas here, I want to stay conscious for this." I mused, but with my lack of emotion my words were playfully dry. Realizing that I hadn't actually disclosed what I needed done, I leaned up and pointed at the corpse that I had brought with me.

"I want to replace my left eye with that man's remaining eye. It should be a simple surgery for someone like you, Blanche." I began, laying back down. "I'm not sure how my body will react afterwards, so if you see anything off..." I paused, outstretching my left arm for the IV whilst closing my right eye.

"Run..."

His response to the call that I’d sent him through the Hiraishin mark on my chin had seemed to pay off as merely minutes after having sent it out, I soon found his body appear out of thin air within the compound, although with extra baggage- a body. I’d initially thought that he’d had whatever he wanted to transplant carefully held in one of those preservation items which allowed for safe travel but seeing how he so carelessly slung the body on to the metal table, I was wrong. Approaching it, I’d take a few moments to simply look at the figure, before turning my attention to Soratsu, taking a revealing from the arsenal of medical items which littered the metal tray next to the table. I’d have been incredibly happy to simply start the surgery procedure had it not been the attitude that he was displaying at the moment. It wasn’t that he was behaving irrationally, I was sure there was a reason behind it, but at the moment he was acting downright rude. If he wasn’t careful I could easily slice his own eyes to pieces- But I wasn’t an asshole. Pausing my movement after placing my left hand on the frigid metal table that the body was on, I’d turn my attention away from the impending surgery and back towads Soratsu and his less than gentlemanly greeting. ”Bad day, Sora?” I’d ask regarding his choice of words. Perhaps he was already getting nervous about the surgery, or he was starting to get doubts? It wasn’t easy, of course. There was always a chance that his body would reject the eye and cause complications, but I had strong confidence in the work that I was about to do.

As he undressed his torso and spoke next a few words that I didn’t expect him to say, my eyebrow would raise, a slightly apprehensive look paving my fave; He wanted it to take place whilst awake? Of course, I knew of many medical processes which could take place when awake and I knew that you could do surgery when the patient is fully awake with the use of anaesthetic which permitted consciousness, but truly it was unfortunate that he chose to stay awake due to the fact that he’d be in for perhaps not such a painful, but a gruesome time. As a medical shinobi and having endured countless wounds myself I’d become immune to seeing bloody body parts and wounds but from what he explained next as far as the operation went; He wanted his eye removed and replaced? I just couldn’t imagine him bearing through it. ”..If you insist- Although, I wouldn't condone it. ..For your sake I hope you're not squeamish.” My tone loosely playful, I only hoped that he didn’t throw up. Despite the fact that I’d seen patients vomit and I’d seen the unthinkable as far as surgery went, I wasn’t too keen on it. The smell, the appearance of it- It easily made me feel ill myself, but that was the case with most people. Paying another look to Soratsu as he laid back down on the table, I’d listen as he spoke once more. He expected me to run? ”You haven’t even told me why I would want to run. I’m guessing the eye holds a genetic ability although one either different or superior to your own- why would you choose to have it transplanted otherwise?” I’d pause, rambling somewhat but regardless, what I spoke about was relevant.

”Just what does he have that you want?”

I’d inquire as I paid another look to the corpse on the metal table, the skin drained and lifeless before turning back to Sora.

"You are partially right." I answered, whether to her statement about my day or the transplant unclear. I knew my attitude towards Blanche was rather cold, but, considering what was about to be done, I couldn't quite put a handle on my emotions like I usually did. I wasn't afraid of pain - hell, I usually welcomed it - but this was going to be on a complete different level. "Give me a sedative, then. One strong enough to dull the pain but that also allows me to be responsive."

Whether or not she obliged to my request, my left eye closed as well; I knew it wouldn't be for long, but I'd rather collect my thoughts before everything got all blurry and disoriented. "Before he died, that man was a native from Kumo. He wasn't that strong of an opponent, but..." Could I trust Blanche with this knowledge? I was already vulnerable by asking her for such a favor, so I didn't see the harm indulging her curiosity. "He had the ability to create black flames from his right eye. Not just normal fire, either - flames that could not be extinguished for seven days and seven nights." Could she still not see the relevance of this?

"He was an Uchiha, very much like myself." I paused, opening my left eye again to gaze at Blanche. "However, he had the ability to take his Sharingan to the next level. Rumor has it, that the only way to achieve such a feat..." Another pause; this time I was using the opportunity to gauge her reaction. "Is to murder the closest person to you. I refuse to lose anymore of my family for such a gamble, so here I am - taking the back route to things."

It was a rather dark topic, so I did not want to continue on with it, especially before such a dangerous operation. That, and well - I already told her too much.

"You're good at that, you know?" I smiled; though, like my humor, it was quite dull. "You always having me telling you things that you aren't supposed to hear."

With my hands having momentarily clung on to the surface of the metal tray, I’d smirk somewhat at his response to my initial question as to if he had had a bad day. Gliding over to him as he lay on the metal table, his request for a sedative was granted to some degree. Given that I was a medical shinobi after all, we had techniques for everything, even anaesthesia. ”I’ll numb the area. It’s going to take a little while.” I’d tell him. It didn’t take that long but for his own sake I wasn’t going to skimp out on it since he’d be the one taking all of the pain from the operation. Sure enough I had to endure removing an eye and then replacing it but that was nothing to compare with the pain that he’d feel if I didn’t use any kind of anaesthesia to protect him. My hands starting to form seals, the string would soon be done as my digits would begin to glow a soft white, one typical of medical techniques. Raising my hands and permitting that he didn’t move them out of the way, I’d then lower my gloved hands towards his left eye, as the numbing began to start. Due to this he’d be partially blinded in that eye for the duration of this step as I’d request; ”Keep your eye open.” my tone firm- If he wanted to feel the least amount of pain, then he was required to follow my lead, naturally. Continuing to stand at my position, I’d then begin to listen as he’d speak, explaining exactly what he required from obtaining the man’s eye. I’d guessed that it was something more powerful than his own but at the same time I’d doubted somewhat that it was another genetic ability since it might draw away from the sharingan that he owned, so my best guess was that the corpse bore some kind of advanced stage of the eye, and listening as he’d explain, it seemed that I was correct in my deduction.

”.. flames that could not be extinguished for seven days and seven nights…”

During my studying days I’d researched in to the Uchiha and I’d learned of the genetic ability that they held and the affinity towards fire, although, despite learning that there were almost forbidden stages of the sharingan that were prized due to the power behind them, I couldn’t have guessed that it had the ability to create unstoppable flames from the eye itself. I only hoped that Soratsu knew that if he was going to accidentally set the place on fire, then he’d be the one paying for the damage, and obviously, I’d beat the shit out of him. However, I’d have asked exactly why he wanted it transplanted as he didn’t strike me as a lazy bastard, but what he said next in regards to how you could naturally gain it and how he didn’t choose to go down that path, it could only cause a small smile to form on my face from his alledged pacifism when it came to that. Of course, he surely wouldn’t have been able to see due to the bright light dousing his vision, but it was there. I’d heard of the backwards nature of the Uchiha when it came to such gaining of power, but I’d never thought that it was true. It wasn’t a surprise that people like Kouketsu had been driven to such horrible peaks – I’d heard rumours about his own eyes and if it was true and he’d gained each stage naturally, then he’d have had to kill so many for the sake of his own power. It wasn’t that I pitied him exactly, but he would have had to strike off so many family members. I couldn’t have done it- Family was everything to me and given that I had none left bar from Ue who was still missing and Akatome who had recently revealed himself to be alive, I didn’t want to strike off the remaining kin that I had. I’d already lost so much with the sheer fact that I had been to blame for his death, and even now his blood was still slathered thick on my hands, staining my mind with a painful, undying guilt.

”That’s sweet of you.”

It was a passing remark, but I meant it. He was willing to go through surgery that surely only few others would even consider to prevent himself from having to go to such measures as killing his own family, so perhaps even after his involvement in the second shinobi war, he did have some sense of humanity within him. Stretching my hand a little bit as it grew stiff from holding it above his eye for so long, there was more waiting to come, although in a few moments he’d start to feel the anaesthetic begin to kick in. But in regards to what he had to say; I’d heard of Rekka who was regarded as family, but I’d been unaware of any other family members that he had, but from the way he spoke he’d obviously lost some degree of them. But it also led me to wonder; Had the man himself created a family of his own over the last few years? I wasn’t sure, but at the same time I wouldn’t doubt it either. A new sense of maturity had overcome him, perhaps that was the cause? ”Had they known about this, I’m sure they’d be thankful.” I’d add on with the same soft smile on my face. I didn’t want to speak for the entire population of his family, but if I’d been in their situation and I’d learned that one of my relatives had rather placed himself through life-threatening surgery rather than be forced one of his family members, I’d hold him in high respect. Having zoned out for a moment or so as I continued to insert the soft white aura in to the area of his left eye, I’d listen as he spoke again.

"You always having me telling you things that you aren't supposed to hear."

A smirk laced my lips, but no verbal response came.

”..You are aware of the risks to this procedure, correct?” I’d ask. He was in safe hands, that was for sure but each procedure naturally had its risks due to the compatibility factor that was required in such surgeries. And because of the nature of the eye as well, if he was to accidentally activate it during the end and somehow stall the surgery then it would be unfinished and cause further problems if nothing was completed correctly. Taking his family in to accordance once more and the ones that he had left, I’d divert my attention away from Soratsu himself, concerntrating on the bright white light that poured from my hands instead. ”There’s a natural 25% chance that the surgery may fail.” I’d inform.

”Should the worst happen..”

Pause.

”..Would you like me to tell anyone?”

I was simply being courteous. I’d been told that he was apparently dead but it was just in case he wanted me to tell anyone of his passing. It was a depressing way to start things off, but I wanted him to be fully aware of the consequences that such dangerous surgery had tied to it.

I obliged to her request, knowing full well that she was about to give me just what I needed. As soon as her chakra was felt coating the area around my eye, I winced. Even though I knew Blanche, my body's innate reaction to someone getting that close to my eyes could not be hidden. The feeling soon disappeared... as did all feeling in that eye, actually. I could barely see out of it anymore, so I opened my other eye.

"No, actually. I'm 'dead' already, remember?" Truthfully, I hadn't come to this realization. It never really dawned on me just how dangerous this operation was, so I hadn't even made preparations should I fail to make it out of here. "There is someone, now that I think about it. My wife, Beppin - let her know exactly what happened if things go sour. No one else." She was, afterall, the only reason I was still alive to this day. Had it not been for her care all those many years, I wouldn't have survived my own mental illness.

"Just make sure everything runs smoothly and you won't have to worry about that, alright?" I closed my eye again, ready for her to start the procedure whenever she was ready. "Make sure to save my eye when you're finished."

Did he think that I was an idiot or something? Of course I knew that he was ’dead’ to the world as far as everyone else knew. Not being able to break directly in to his mind, I was simply wondering whether or not I was the only one who knew about the fact that he was, contrastingly, alive and well. Of course I was unsure on the outcome of the surgery but given that I was one of the best medics in the world and there was a 75% chance that it would all go to plan, I was quite confident that things would go well. But even then I wasn’t sure of the future and I knew that sometimes the unexpected happened. I just wanted to make sure that he knew what could befall him if something went wrong. But who exactly did he want me to notify? Continuing to hold both of my hands above his left eye to continue the numbing I’d listen carefully- A Beppin? The name was different to say the least, but as he explained who she was, the same smirk would trail on my face again. I was right. ”And, I’m assuming she’d be situated within Sunagakure?” I’d ask. I figured so, but seeing as though I knew nothing about her, she could have lived elsewhere, but seeing as Soratsu had an incredibly close connection to Sunagakure even during his current veiled presence within the village, I figured that she’d be there too.

"Just make sure everything runs smoothly and you won't have to worry about that, alright?"

”Your body may not accept the foreign eye."



"..That's the problem, Soratsu.”

I corrected him as so. Did he actually think that my abilities could cause such an important surgery to fail? Each movement I made was graceful and I was nothing but perfect when it came to my talents in the field. I was sure that given the fact that he too was an Uchiha it would make more sense if the procedure went without problems but no matter my skill and no matter what one was transplanting, I knew full well the constant risk to each surgery. Flicking my head to the side to rid of my blonde hair which was falling to my own eyes as I gazed downwards at the area I was currently numbing, he’d then ask if I could keep the eye. Nodding my head in response to this, I’d then ask; ”Have you got the correct preservation item to keep the eye in? I’d suggest getting one, as keeping it in your pocket isn’t going to make it last for long.” Perhaps I was lecturing him on this by saying it, but I was only suggesting the best way that he should carry it. As far as I could tell from how he simply appeared with the body of the dead Uchiha he hadn’t kept it in any preservation tank, so I hoped that the eye would still be fit for transplanting, but I currently doubted that he had anything to keep the eye itself in. As I was gone half-way numbing his eye, I came to understand that there was only a little bit more work to be done before I could begin the procedure, although given the effect of the anaesthesia, I was also aware that it would be required to re-apply its effects once more. Keeping contact, I kept waiting.

Tch. I doubted it would come to that, honestly. Both the man and I were Uchiha by blood, if anything was compatible, this would be it. Frankly, I wasn't even worried about that being a problem. I knew Blanche and I trusted her a great deal more than I usually trusted people, but shes only human. I was worth a great deal of money dead or alive, and, truthfully, turning me in would yield far greater of a reward than I could ever pay her. Still, I doubted Blanche would stoop that low.

"Don't you run a medical facility, Blanche?" I answered, the sarcastic nature of my voice too profound to ignore. "I'm sure you guys have these things somewhere around here. I already owe you a large sum of money for this, put it on my tab."" I hadn't thought it that far, honestly. While I had needlessly paid for the preservation tank in order to ensure the corpse wouldn't get bad, I never really imagined what I would do with my eye, after.

There were rumors that detailed specific weaknesses that came with such raw power, so, just in case, it was best that it was kept in the best condition as possible.

Perhaps he found it so easy to simply lie down and take the anaesthesia that I was currently giving him, but did he know how easy it was for me to switch techniques? Perhaps then he’d think twice as to use such a sarcastic tone in regards to my chosen profession. Maybe it would do him some good. A cold, hard stare expressed towards the Uchiha’s line of sight, he’d know instantly of my disapproval of his use of sarcasm. If anything; He’d have laughed it off but today he seemed strangely serious in the way that he spoke. Perhaps bad day was an understatement. I’d then tilt my head softly to the side whilst my right hand waved slightly over his eyes, my delicate fingers not touching an inch of his face but instead simply caressing the air above it as if it was water. Simply responding to his childish comment would have pissed me off, so instead I chose ignore him and continue with my work numbing the area. Didn’t he know how fortunate he was to have me as a medic? Even moreso; Did he understand that such transplants were considered less accepted than usual medic practices? It wasn’t as if I could get my title revoked from it- but given the nature of less honest transplants, it was much more looked down upon. My talents rivalled that of no one in the field. If this surgery was to be a failure, then it was upon his own head as I’d have done nothing wrong. Continuing to hold my hands above his face, I’d keep waiting in silence. It wouldn’t be long now until the technique would be complete and I could start on the actual surgery and take his eye out. Somehow, what compelling need for blood that was built up within me was provoked by this.

..I waited so patiently.

But a tab? Briefly shaking myself back to the reality that faced each of us, listen on as he spoke. Of course- I was looking forwards to whatever payment he’d promised me as I was hoping to stock the compound with items suitable for my medical work- For example I needed a body tank or two for my work and a few preserving items as he’d already spoken about, and the rest I could donate to the village to fund my ever-demanding persona. I’d be known as the saviour of the village and soon each and every person out there would know my name. Another shift. Turning my attention back to Soratsu, I’d finally begin to speak once more after a few minutes of silence, my hands slowly beginning to lose the white glow that had previously caused problem to his eyesight. Once finished and the glow gone, I’d raise my right hand to turn on the theatre light that was positioned directly over Soratsu to light the area up during my work. With this light now on, I’d lower my hands back to my sides and more over to the carcass that he’d dumped on the metal table nearby. ”The upper left portion of your face has been anaesthetized. You’re lucky- Some people wouldn’t bother.” I’d say in the same somewhat sarcastic tone as he’d said, although I meant what I’d said. Dragging my hands over the medical tools on the table I’d pick up one of the numerous scalpels and hold it up to the surgery light above Sora for a moment or so, admiring the gleam the almost razor-like edge brought, enrapturing myself in it – and then lowering as I approached the body. With gloved hands I’d use my left to open the area around the eye wide. From Sora’s angle, he’d see my profile as I carefully cut away at the required parts to remove the eye itself, and engorged in my work I’d continue until the eye was carefully cut away- Of course, should an average medic have attempted this surgery, the result would have been less than average vision- If anything, he’d have been partially blinded, however due to the fact that he was blessed with such talents as my own, his vision would be normal, if not perfect. For now, at least. I’d heard of the Uchiha and how their eyesight deteriorated, but- That wasn’t my problem.

Walking back with the eye in hand, my gloves covered in little blood given the nature of the corpse, I’d then place it on the metal tray to the side of the one that Soratsu was positioned on, as I gazed at him from my overhead position with apathetic eyes. ”You shouldn’t be able to feel much from that area. With a tray of various medical instruments by my side and with a scalpel impatient, I awaited for the go-ahead, my hands shaking beneath the limits of my self-control. There was only so much that I could do, and this would be the first time in a while that the delectable smell of iron could seep through my very senses. As patient as I was at the moment and much as I didn't wish for my actions to reflect such broken thoughts at the moment, I shuddered. It wouldn't be long now, ..I promise.

Her sarcasm was noted, but also ignored - quite like she had done to me. Instead, I merely watched her from afar; gazing at her various actions as she held one of her razor-like medical tool in the air and then proceeded to remove the corpse's eye. I did not find the sight gruesome, truthfully, but it kind of made me reconsider wanting such a foreign body part in my own body. It was a brief thought, one that left my mind almost as instantly as it had arrived.

"Don't worry, I won't." I spoke cooly. "When you live your entire life hearing voices in your head, not much else freaks you out." I was speaking the truth. It had been months since I had last heard or felt any feint sign of schizophrenia, but I knew it was still there - just dormant. Though it had been the sole factor that had caused me to enter a state of catonia for several years, I was almost glad it had. I hadn't felt this free-- this clear, since that fateful day many years ago...

It was funny how things worked. The day I had first witnessed the power and might of my clan's fabled Sharingan, had also been the day the first symptoms of schizophrenia had surfaced in my psyche. Who knew after all these years of pain and insanity, that the very moment everything was finally clear and bright, I'd be back where I started; looking for that sole piece of power that I knew had attributed to my mind's drastic alteration.

"I'm ready when you are." My fingers grasped the edges of the tables I was situated on. "Remember... run."

I smirked somewhat at his comment, although I couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable. I too had noticed that I felt much more.. relaxed- Perhaps not all the time but for the majority of it. I’d been dulled down, I could feel it, although I could do nought to stop it. Perhaps it was simply that I was growing older, or it was the calm before the storm. I was unsure, but both possibilities terrified me. The topic of mortality was a thing that I had consequentially been sucked in to for as long as I could remember, or for as long as I could remember being a medic. Death was something that was common especially within our shinobi communities and although my duty as a medic was to preserve and prolong life, I had even asked for it at my lowest – But it was never granted, and neither could I bring myself to do anything about it. It was typical for humans to look in to things deeper than one should, but that was simply a fault of mine, and only now I had become aware of it. Weaknesses, failures and faults slowly began to appear to me through my mind that I hadn’t previously noticed in the trancelike state which had overcome me for so long. Things were so different now- The world much clearer, but at the same time much darker. I wished I’d never left as where previously I’d been somewhat immune to my own logical thoughts, I now looked back and found myself screaming to myself in my office as shadows of the past broke out from ever corner before my eyes, forcing their eyes in to my own and suffocating me with the reality of it.

I hung in limbo, lost.

As I hung above his figure, he then giving the final ok before I could proceed, I then went on to begin, the scalpel in my hand as I momentarily cleared my thoughts before continuing. Upon doing so, I then gently traced the incisions I was to make over his eye, the sharp blade waving uncomfortably above him before then being driven in to make the incision itself in one sharp motion, my eyes savouring each passing moment as I operated, the bloody scalpel revealing itself from the side of his eye, tainted and bloody, the crimson liquid itself running down my gloved hand beautifully before dropping to the floor below. Breathing out, I then made the second incision to remove the eye from the socket itself, before I could cut the back to remove it completely and remove his ability to see. It was powerful, almost divine for me to be able to cut off such a vital part of human life, but at the same time, I needed to stay focused. Gazing down at him, I began to speak. I was unaware whether or not he’d be prepared to answer given the fact that I was currently cutting so intricately in to his flesh, but as I found myself slowly succumbing to the same bloodlust I’d lived with all those years ago, I needed something to distract me from myself.

”..So-"
I spoke, my tone inviting, albeit shaky.

"..What have you been doing with yourself?
Being dead, you must have found diversions.”

And now- despite it being somewhat of a forced bout of words, they were laced with genuine interest. And as I soon calmed myself, I spoke soft- Much different to how he'd be used to me speaking like. I'd always found myself a disposition with working with patients even now. Although I had in the past found myself relishing in blood, guts and my own ego, I'd always been selfless when it came to others. Surpsingly, my strong motherly instincts hadn't been the death of me yet, and I had no inclination to stop- Not that I could stop it. It came as natural to me as breathing did and it had been the same for as long as I could remember.

Well, she was right. The pain was.... almost non-existant.

I could still feel her pressing the sharp edge of her medical utensil, but the feeling was limited to that - there wasn't an ounce a pain, and for that, I was relieved. There wasn't any need for her to tell me to keep my eye open for I couldn't even move it. With all the necessary numbing she had done to ensure no pain was felt, such little things - like blinking, for example - were made impossible. It probably wasn't sanitary, or healthy, but then again neither was implanting a foreign eye.

"What?" It was an almost uncontrollable response to her words. Honestly, I hadn't expected her to want to converse whilst in the process of such a dangerous procedure. Still, I would indulge her curiosity even further - I could tell, just by looking and hearing her, that she might need it. "Being dead isn't as easy as I had first imagined. Taking over Sunagakure, on the other hand, was. My skills when it comes to things that like is quite unparallelled."

Knowing full well that she, too, probably didn't have an easy job being the leader of Kusagakure, I switched the topic of our conversation. "I'm sure you've heard that your village's status as a minor village might change should the rest of the Kages agree to it, right? How do you feel knowing that the rest of those fools--" The word 'fool' was laced with a noted disdain. "Have the fate of your village in their hands?" I didn't mean to bring up a topic I was sure she was rather on the fence about, but I was also curious.

As I continued to carefully plan out the incisions I was to make, the blood-stained scalpel in my hands as I watched on, the rim of his eye socket grew redder as time continued, not with strain but instead with the small amount of blood that was imprinting on it from the scalpel itself. Each cut I made hung between the description of ruthless and yet so delicate, making incisions only where I needed rather than causing any unnecessary problems for him. Whilst his eye was on the border of being removed my own vision was perfect as I scoped in on what I needed to do. Despite not being able to see the incisions that I was making exactly, surprisingly my actions would have no concequences solely because of my skill of being able to understand where functions were in each part of the body, may it be from the legs, to the eye which I was currently working on. With the starting incisions made, the process that came next was the main focus on the surgery itself. With my gloves on, I waited to respond to what he had to say before taking my next move. Although my actions were solely focused on preparing his body for the transplant itself, I too was focused on his words, drawing my own mind from the potential that could come from such surgery. The brink of what I would call uneasiness grew close but as I opened my mouth to speak, I busied myself with something other than my hands, allowing me to ground myself back to earth and my scalpel to continue moving where it was supposed to, preventing my subconscious from physically cutting in to his skull.

”..You were never quiet one. I never expected it to be easy for you.” I said with the smallest of grins on my face to accompany my comment. Although he’d grown up significantly since the first time I’d met him, I still figured that he wasn’t as subtle with his mannerisms when he wanted to be. Perhaps it was simply familiarity which had subdued the tension which had been between us, and not maturity. Of course, with the second shinobi war I only knew loosely of his involvement in it from what he’d told me and what I’d learned off others, and that was simply that he had become perhaps not attatched to Kouketsu, but had very much been in line with his plans along with my brother. Unfortunately for myself during that time I was deep beneath the ground, in a similar situation to what Soratsu was currently in although perhaps slightly less extreme, and yet at the same time with little to no anaesthesia. He had it much easier than he initially thought he had. I’d had my arms sliced open and foreign objects embedded in them with only wound-cleaning techniques used to purify the cuts made. It made me shudder to even think of it; But it made me feel much more dedicated towards making Soratsu’s surgery a more pleasant experience. It would at least try and relinquish me from the dangerous thoughts that circled my mind. ”..The hearing?” I’d ask, as if I was oblivious to such a topic, although- I soon came to, nodding my head somewhat.

”Two days. Tetsu no kuni.

I have faith the majority will make the right decision.”



”I’m simply dubious of their compliance after the ordeal.”

I spoke- Perhaps actually revealing some truth. It wasn’t that I didn’t trust the other leaders, but I knew how some could be. I was aware that Soratsu was perhaps one of the most untrue as far as his plan went, but he was the closest thing that I had to an ally and a friend right now- as much as I would have hated to admit. ”Although hopefully I won’t have to worry about your take on the hearing.” I’d speak. I was sure that he’d vote for my village becoming a greater nation, but I was aware that he also seemed as if he had his own views on the plan itself and perhaps also the other leaders of the shinobi world. He seemed almost.. doubtful of them as was I. Perhaps greater than my own. ”My village can also be considered allied with Iwagakure along with your own.” It was only natural- my brother having hailed from there, upholding the relationship both meant that should he return, the connection between both villages would perhaps be of help, and it was out of respect. Coco- I was unsure if she was aware of such truths, but obvious similarities were too hard to ignore. ”I’m assuming ….out of our…" I paused. "..relationship.. she’d agree..” I spoke, I seemed somehwhat distracted through my work as then with one swift movement, the Uchiha’s eyesight would disappear completely in a numb strike as I removed the piece through carefully gouging it out, cutting the optic nerve and placing it aside, picking up the other eye in exchange for the bloodied scalpel, my equally bloodied hands then balancing the eye itself alongside the broken optic nerve as I prepared to fix it. My other hand beginning to glow with the soft glow, through one eye would he be able to watch the process- if at all, and he’d be patient to my remarkable abilities. The worst was almost done- but it wasn’t over yet. Silence overcame me as I operated.

I was doubtful of the other Kages, actually.

It was obvious that they would each base their decision on their own selfish agendas - much like I was doing, actually - so I wasn't afraid that their decisions would swing in the wrong direction. However, very much like Blanche, I was worried what would happen after.

"Two days, you say?" I hadn't expected the date to be so close. It was perfect, however; if it was truly needed, my eye would be ready for debut by then. "Whatever happens, Blanche-- no matter what anyone says, don't let them get into your head. I know how it feels to be in a similar position, stay true to yourself and your village will be fine."

All vision out of my eye was gone by now, forcing me to close my remaining eye as a means of ensuring I did not see what was about to happen next.
