Mission Info: The time has come for the Daimyo and his samurai dogs to reap the rewards of their failed assassination attempt. However, we must first separate them from their outer reinforcements and obtain a stronger foothold in the northern reaches of Mizu no Kuni. Your mission is to infiltrate Kouga Village, which lies due north of the Hidden Mist, and assassinate its leader, Hanzou. This is a samurai-occupied village; leave no survivors.
Rewards: 500 EXP, 50,000 ryo.

Being the last remaining left hand of the Mizukage, Chae learned of their mission well before the general population of their military force did. Having already been briefed through the mission objectives, Chae was to be assigned a partner despite strongly suggesting that he performed the mission alone, he knew working with others outside of his original group eventually became complicated. Nevertheless, he followed his orders to the letter and swiftly exited the village itself and surely made his way over to his destination - Kouga Village.

According to Akira and other third party sources, the village had been entirely controlled and influenced by seemingly ancient warriors - Samurai. Although they were considered 'primitive' in their method of combat, Chae refused to underestimate their capabilities, even if his own power obviously dwarfed their own.

The dead of night soon settled in as Chae -suited in a steel mask and protective garb silently stepped from a bed of undergrowth located roughly 10 meters from the Villages south entrance. Crouched silently, with only a single arm, he observed the area as he waited for the arrival of his alleged partner. With time to spare, he noticed two guards stood watch at the entrance itself, one on each respective side of the dual doors.

"Hm, I can't tell if they're samurai but I guess it doesn't matter, Akira doesn't want any survivors which only means I don't have to hold back to avoid civilian casualties. Heh, at least this'll allow me to see just how far I could can go with a single arm."

"Lucky Me."

Finally, the chance I have been dreaming of had presented itself. I had heard whispers of a possible civil war, and killing a daimyo would be the opportunity of a lifetime! Unfortunately, my lord, the mizukage, had no intentions of giving me that opportunity. Instead of the big cheese, I was told to target the leader of a small village occupied by samurai.

The location, if my memory served me correct, was Kouga Village. I had a hard time maneuvering through the constant patrols of samurai, but eventually I managed to close the distance enough to reach the south entrance where I would halt my advance.

Where the hell was the men I was to meet up with? I specifically remember there being mention of "capable shinobi" pursuing this man with me. For now, I should survey my location and locate my team-mates.

I slowly pulled myself into an oak tree just 8 meters from the guarded gates nearby. I made sure to practice every inch of finesse and skill that had been drilled into me as a child. I roosted on a large branch covered in leaves, they would eclipse me from the samurai, and give me a broader view of the area.

With my nearly acquired birds-eye-view, it wasn't that hard to spot a masked, cloaked figure crouched just a few meters from me. I racked my brain trying to identify the figure. He was not among the few Kiri ninja I had come across, but I could not ignore the possibility of him being an ally. I would silently await his next move, with my left hand gently placed on my ninjato, ready to be drawn and used.

[Chae]

crouched beneath the thick undergrowth, Chae observed the two sentry whilst mentally sorting through every possible course of action he could've taken in order to successfully carry out the mission. His assigned partner hadn't showed up, but, admittedly, Chae was glad that things worked themselves out naturally. Nevertheless, angered with the lack of his left arm from the shoulder, he hadn't been in the mood for tactfulness or patient strategies, nay, instead, he needed to relieve the pent up stress within him as quickly and efficiently as possible.

In a moment, he stood up from the undergrowth as his body and tenketsu exploded vehemently. His body - consumed by a film of chakra surrounded by crackling bolts of lightning - bolted forward, leaving no pressure nor an overly loud roar of power as a testament to his speed. The samurai were nothing more than human's who -to Chae- decided to oppose the teachings and versatility that ninjutsu provided for its practitioners. Even with a single arm and half his vision in one eye, the mere fact that he chose to specialize in ninjutsu unlike the physically tuned samurai, Chae still fancied himself superior to them all.

Seemingly in an instance, what little distance that separated him from the two sentry had been completely devoured. For just the briefest of moments, Chae stopped, however, before the samurai could've even acknowledged the threat, reached for blade, draw & attack, that single right arm had gone through his armour and into the solar plexus. He let out a blood curdling scream, warranting the attention of his juxtaposed ally. He looked over to his fallen comrade, yet, no one else was there, only a man he was stationed with that bled out almost immediately.

He reached for his sword intuitively, however, Chae's hand already lunged forward from his immediate rear, driving its arrow shape into the back of his neck. Both dispatched, Chae knew that the man's scream would've alerted some kind of attention, not that it mattered.

"Tch, damn him. Nearly slipped trying to attack with the arm I don't have. "

"You rash son of a bitch!"

My mask would hush my inaudible outburst. How could this man take an opponent in such a loud manner. What kind of ninja did not know how to practice stealth! Not only had he wasted valuable chakra, but he could have alerted the entrie damn village! I wasted no time no time jumping to the ground, walking briskly towards the masked man. A few seconds later my stride would halt as a chilling realization came down on me.

This son of a bitch only had one arm! The mizukage sent me with a fucking cripple! I shook my head, shaking off my doubts as I remembered how easily he cut down the samurai who guarded the gate. He could handle his own.

I was now only a few feet away from the gates, and only a few steps from the masked figure to my right. I retrieved the headband from my right thigh, and flashed it at my new partner.

"My name is Mifune, I hope that introduction is enough because I'm pretty sure there are gonna be samurai here soon. You are?"

I got everything on me.

[Chae]

Facing the gates, Chae's hand raised up to the plateau of his head with its arrow shaped tip aligned straight for its center. Suddenly, the sound of steps drilled through his mask and into his ears, warranting his attention as a result. Faster than any man or shinobi, he turned upon both heels and faced the approaching man properly. While unable to readily tell if he'd been enemy due to his lack of official samurai gear. Nevertheless, as his chakra continued to throb throughout the entirety of his body, the man before Chae spoke prior to flashing his headband as thought it carried some kind of meaning.

"Good, let them. They'll all die anyway."

Chae replied with a touch of venom behind every syllable. Turning back to the gate, his hand raised just as it had done a moment ago and lunged forward without hesitance. Consumed by extremely powerful raiton chakra, the high frequency cutting ability that came with the armour allowed Chae to rive through the gate itself like a hot knife on butter. Shoulder tackling to further destroy its center, there'd already been an approaching platoon straight away.

Desperately they ran and attempted to close the distance (25m) between them. He looked over at his arm-less shoulder and momentarily thought back on Eiichiro's face during his final moments and soon realized. . .

He regretted nothing.

He grinned menacingly beneath his mask while he placed the entire palm of his only hand upon his mask and pulled it from his face. Without even so much as a second thought, he threw the mask down to his side before using that hand to form a brief series of hand signatures.

The man spoke without even mentioning his name, and in an instant he would destroy the gates in front of us. His back now to me, i would see him reach towards his face as an incoming platoon rushed towards us. The shinobi threw down his mask and began to form seals, in preparation for the oncoming battle.

"Fine then. Lets kill them already."

I grabbed the man's mask that he had discraded and placed it into my gi. I figured he would want that back later, when his frenzy had subsided. Drawing my ninjato I stood behind the man, tensing my muscles in preparation for the fight.

"I'll follow your lead."

"Tch, if you're actually going to stick around I suggest you not get in the way. Cover my sides, no one is going to come in from the rear."

The moment that very last syllable escaped his parted lips had his hand signatures been completed. Thereafter, the kneaded chakra immediately materialized and further consumed his right hand. The sound of its own lightning stood out from Raiton no yoroi's own, chirpping as though a thousand birds suddenly swept through the area.

Adamant in protecting their small little town, the platoon of samurai continued to press forward towards the opposing duo (roughly 15 meters away). Using what little time they had before engaging the enemy Chae cut a quick glance back over his shoulder at Mifune, and spoke thereafter.

"Take that mask off, give'em the pleasure of seeing their killer. Additionally, I'll flank them from the rear, think you can handle the first few waves on your own? "

He questioned the man's capableness, wondering if he had what it takes or would merely freeze before the enemies' blade and be cut down like a lowly dog.

"Tch! Don't underestimate me."

I slowly peeled down my mask before turning back towards the man. The oncoming assault of samurai was now only 10 meters away, and in a moment I would be upon them.

"It's not like I'll give 'em time to see my face anyhow."

Those would be the last words spoken before I would draw my ninjato, and sprint towads the incoming samurai¹. In an instant I was just a few steps from the raging samurai. Firmly placing my hand on my wakizashi I would throw my ninjato into the throat of one samurai, then, drawing my wakizashi, I slashed upwards across the throat of another. After retrieving my ninjato from the throat of my freshly made corpse, I charged into the crowd of foolish warriors.

My skills as a ninja have been honed long before I was officially a kiri-nin. These poor fools wouldnt stand a chance against me, especially with a powerful partner at my side. There was a small grin on my face.

On this day, they will regret drawing their blades on us.

Shunshin no Jutsu (Body Flicker Technique)

Shunshin no Jutsu is a basic ninjutsu technique used across the shinobi world by all, ranging from the most basic shinobi to the legends of lore. Considered is a high-speed movement technique - to an observer caught in the optical illusion, it appears as if the user has teleported. This allows the user to escape or attack suddenly, should they need to. However, while a high-speed movement, if used in broad daylight, one will still be quite visible and as such, easier to be defended against. In order to achieve maximum effect, the user must to combine it with a distraction.

Note: Despite popular belief, this is not an ability that allows an individual to teleport, or even move incomprehensibly fast. It simply combines high mobility with some disruption of visibility to conceal those movements. That in mind, if you can conceal your movement, it is common for this technique to allow very long-distance dashes before enemies may notice you.

Looking straight ahead once more, he grinned upon hearing Mifune's final words and provided his own name before he took off towards the advancing platoon.

"Its Chae. . ."

Covered in a film of raiton chakra and hand consumed in the high frequency Chidori, he bolted forward and around towards the platoon's immediate rear, stopping just 2 meters from their flank. Waiting for Mifune's arrival, Chae used his initial attack as a signal or cue of sorts to begin his own, merciless assault. With undeniable speeds, he pressed forward, stabbing and slashing his way through each and every samurai (save for those who'd fallen to the might of Mifune).

One after another, their numbers slowly dwindled, turning a group of 12 down to a meager and harmless five. Surrounded and outclassed by two men, they formed a circle in which they all remained back to back, covering each others flanks. Unfortunately, for them, no such tactic worked against a man that moved far beyond their level of perception and comprehension.

Chidori still within his hand, Chae held out his hand laterally as he slowly approached the group of frightened samurai that remained. In an instant -with a quick application of shape transformation- the Chidori elongated and stretched outwardly to a maximum of ten meters. Reinforcements had been on their way, that much was for certain, however, as to how 'many' still eluded Chae to the point where he was unable to guess. Nevertheless, living in the 'the moment', the decision to end each and every living & breathing samurai had been made, therefore making their lives completely forfeit behind the might of Kirigakure.

Upon forcing the hand of the Mizukage and his follower's, the samurai and their daimyo surely couldn't have expected for things to just happen so smoothly, did they?!

[~Mifune~]

I was in awe at Chae's speed. In the few seconds I had approached the samurai, he had already flanked behind them. However, I did not have time to gawk. As a few men rushed towards me a sudden realization came over me. These samurai were still wet behind the ears. My skill with a blade was extensive, but I had heard tales of the samurai's extensive training, and I was expecting much more.

One foolish man had managed to flank me to my immediate left. I could not immediately dispatch him due to the samurai that had surrounded my front and right. He brought his sword down just as my ninjato was pulled from the eyes of one of his comrades. Before his blade could swing down I had shoved the hilt of my ninjato into his own, effectively disarming him. He was dead before he could react.

Chae had managed to down 4 samurai just as I had dealt with the 3 surrounding me. We had now effectively dwindled there forces to a mere 5 men, one of which i had blinded in one eye. With Chae at there rear and me at the front, their deaths were imminent, I wonder if they knew it too. Chae's lightning chakra buzzed in my ears, and there was hardly any other sound besides the tired panting of the samurai. I will not give them the chance to wait for reinforcements.

My blade would find the throats of two more samurai as I rushed forward. As there bodies fell, I pushed back to avoid the blow of another samurai. His attention was drawn to me, but it was Chae they should have worried about. I landed a few feet away from the samurai and mused knowing that Chae would soon end them.

[Chae]

With the chidori spear extended outwardly from his lateral arm, he bolted forward as swung the aforementioned arm in an inward arc, using the high frequency beam of raiton chakra not as a piercing instrument, but as a sword, an extension of Chae himself. The beam swept through the air just above Mifune's own head, yet, still aligned low enough to strike through the each of the standing Samurai's helmets, snuffing out the brief candle of their traitorous lives. Having moved forward, with the remaining group dead, Chae's chakra settled and the film of chakra that once consumed his entire body fizzled and dissipated into the openness of air.

"You handle yourself well, starting to get this feeling that you're much more capable than the bastard I was initially teamed up with. Tch, at least you showed up. Counts for sumthin' y'know."

Expressing the thoughts that rushed to the forefronts of his mind, he walked deeper into Kouga village. An overly loud alarm soon alerted the entire village, ushering its civilians to evacuate and samurai to use their gathered forces to engage and dispatch the invading forces. Unfortunately, without any true ninjutsu, it would've taken them time to get to the duo's position, besides, Chae hadn't been in any kind of rush whatsoever.

An idea sparked within his mind which brought Chae to retrieve a his last kunai grenade and launched it into the window of some poor bastards house. Through the window, it bounced off the wall to the house's lower level, releasing a plethora of metallic projectiles ranging from shuriken and tagged Kunai alike. Hearing the screams of multiple victims within the house, he formed a single hand signature that ignited every possible tag that'd been hidden within the grenade. In an instant, an explosion ripped forth and completely detached the makeshift supporters that kept the house standing.

There after, his arm dove back into his couch (all the while continuing to slowly walk), and armed himself with three shuriken (one between each finger) and flung them into the heads of three fleeing civilians, two women and a child. Chae truly held no desire to kill women and children mercilessly, however, Akira issued the command and like the loyal Kirigakure ninja Chae fancied himself to be, he followed those orders to the letter.

Ruthless, relentless, a demon. These were the only words I could use to describe Chae's vicious killings as they happened before my very eyes. Yet I knew he was not wrong for doing this. Our lord, the Mizukage, had demanded that we leave no survivors, he had not bothered to mention if civilians were to be spared. Somewhere in the distance a high pitch alarm began to screech, and I knew more samurai would be on the way.

I began forming hand-seals, before drawing the giant shuriken from the strap around my waist and began breathing my wind chakra onto it. The shuriken spun on my finger before I flung it into the crowd of fleeing civilians. There screams echoed through the air as I guided the blade through the crowd. I cut down at least ten before I dismissed the jutsu, guiding the shuriken in front of me, then shoving it into the ground where I would retrieve it.

I shuddered a bit. I knew what I did was an atrocity, but I could never let my partner know I was hesitating. So I dived into the crowd closest to my right, slashing my blade through them ferociously.

"JUST DIE ALREADY!"

Kaiten Shuriken is a Ninjutsu technique which utilizes the Wind Element. After performing the required handseals, the user coats their bladed weapon in wind chakra. Once launched at an opponent the weapon will begin spinning rapidly, making it appear like a disk. So long as the user continues to maintain the coating of chakra they are capable of manipulating the direction in which the disk flies.

Chae smiled at Mifune's display of fuuton ninjutsu mixed in with the skillful application of ninja tools as he cut down a literal crowd of civilians. Surprised, he felt as though Mifune had shown off the lethality and effectiveness of his attacks, inherently challenging Chae to see who could end the most lives.

Continuing on with his assault, his single hand raised up to his chest and swept through a series of hand signatures. Upon completion, a tight bolt of electricity formed snugly within Chae's hand, unharmed by its chakra. He raised his hand thereafter, almost as if he'd been an Olympian aiming to launch a javelin. No more than a second later had the aforementioned arm shot forward and released the bolt from his fingers.

"Wait, wait for it. . ."

It zoomed 10 meters straight ahead before riving through the back of an innocent civilian and out of the front. Through all the screams -which already stopped little by little form the amount of lives lost- the unpalatable sound of their lifeless body snapped through the air. A smile, ear to ear, erupted across Chae's face as he looked to Mifune.

" Bulls-eye! That's what you call accuracy. Think you can top thsi one armed man in a throwing contest Mifune? Loser buys the winner a nice cold drink at the bar, whaddya say?"

I felt sick as I slashed through the civilians. How many had died in that one attack? How many am I killing right now? Damn them! Damn them all! This is THEIR punishment for opposing our lord! The minute the attempt was made on our lord's life they should have fled and surrendered. Did they think their precious samurai could threaten us? Did they feel safe behind their steel?! Well how safe do you feel now! Now that you feel my blade cutting through you and you children! HOW SAFE ARE YOU NOW!

Chae had began to make a game of these killings. I did not know if he was consumed with anger at these people like I was, but he killed mercilessly. He turned to me, egging me into a brutal competition of "who could spill the most blood". If he truly wanted to try to best me at a game I was far too acquainted with, fine then, lets have some fun. I turned to him with a grin filled with blood-lust.

"I'm game!

I eyed a small group of no more than 20 civilians (and a few fleeing samurai) pushing to a small break in the village gates. I watched for a moment as I watched them funnel out like the rats they were. Crawl.. you insignificant worms. I formed a few hand-seals before turning back to Chae.

"Now, watch this!"

The wind had formed into spheres in the palm of both my hands.¹ The sheer pressure from the balls excited me. I spun on my heels as I flung the bombs of wind into the crowd. Not 3 seconds later, two loud concussive explosions boomed form the crowd, killing a few upon impact, and the rest were flung into the air where they would die upon hitting the ground, or were smashed through buildings with the force of the wind.

Kaze Bakudan (Wind Bomb)

Kaze Bakudan is a Ninjutsu technique which utilizes the Wind Element. After performing two handseals the user creates a highly condensed ball of wind, about the size of a baseball, in the palm of their hand. It can be thrown, and upon contact with a solid object will detonate in a concussive explosion one meter in diameter.

Note: If the user chooses instead to give up Mid x2 worth of chakra, they can create two bombs - one in each hand. The explosion is the most powerful at the site of detonation. This technique was created by Addy.

"Wow, you could almost scare me with a twisted face like that, haha!"

Once spoken, Chae laughed boisterously as Mifune accepted his little game of 'who can spill the most blood'. While Chae knew the likelihood of him winning without Raiton no yoroi had been slim to none with only a single arm, however, he refused to let that so-called 'handicap' hinder his 'fun'. With his only hand on his hip, he watched Mifune keenly by the time he swiftly swept through an assembly line of hand signatures dedicated to the fuuton element, Chae's sole weakness - ironic. Softly, he grinned once Mifune ushered him to watch closely before finally initiating whatever jutsu he had in store for that helpless group of people.

"Tch, lets see what ya' got!"

Before long, a spherical orb of fuuton chakra swelled within his hand that he, as expected, hurled over and into the aforementioned crowd of fleeing civilians. Upon impact, it exploded and released an unexpectedly strong gale force that sent the entire group down to the bowls of hell. Both brows lofted in shock and surprise to the power behind said attack. Slowly, he nodded, adding to Mifune's acknowledgement.

"Well I'll be damned you clever bastard. Now I gotta somehow top that."

Nonchalantly, he contemplated on his plan of attack all but for a brief moment before a 'light bulb' went off within his head and his idea sprang to life. Immediately, his right hand danced through the constellations faster than most. Noticing separated familes and people that ran around flailing so helplessly, an electrifying pulse of raiton chakra expanded from Chae's feet (using him as a center) and into every direction through the ground for thirty meters. The most transcended across the land rapidly, and considering neither civilian nor samurai carried the means to identify the technique, they'd -without a shadow of doubt- succumb to its power.

Ten, roughly ten people (give or take a few approaching samurai) all let out blood curdling cries as their bodies felt microwaved from the inside out.

"How about dem apples huh?! To be honest, s'all I got without wasting a bunch of chakra haha! "
