Why not a much simpler technique where you simply shut off sightless for a small duration of time?

I personally don't like the ability to completely nullify the repercussions of such a story-filled plot-device like circumstance you have been left with. Not to mention it's just an intrinsic characteristic of having a lightning-thunder-electricity based release. Not sure on this one.

I agree with Coma.

I see no reason for this technique; over all, it's almost unrealistic. There's no way to make Raiton creations (and ONLY those) not hurt your character's ears. If they boom, they boom. Short of using the ear plugs we have as accessories, you're going to have to live with the repercussions of using the Sightless technique.

Touching a little more on this, most lightning techniques don't explode. So, the techniques that would effect your Sightless are few and far between. Even so, a few moments of discomfort or "blurry" vision is worth most of the damage you'll be dealing.
