Wave-kun's Missions Pt.1

DESCRIPTION: Although most of the village is restored back to a good condition where people can live happily within he walls of their homes, there are still a few houses which are dilapidated and still require to be either restored, or to be destroyed for new, sturdier homes to put in their places. With many children how living in the village, a few have been told ghost stories about these places, and are now being plagued by nightmares related to these houses. They won't go near the street that these houses are in, and it's made the parents concerned. Henceforth, it's been asked for shinobi to go in to these broken down buildings, and stay the night to figure out the cause of the disturbances. The truth is, after much examination that there are strange sounds coming from there at night - but what could they be? Each house may be different to the other - so be careful! Is it truly otherworldly phenomena?
OBJECTIVE: Spend a night in one of the few abandoned and ruined houses within the village and figure out the case of the disturbances. Is it stray dogs? Homeless people? Or is it truly something that we as mere humans cannot truly comprehend? Get to the bottom of this mystery!
PAY: 200 EXP and 1,000 Ryo.

If there was ever one thing Wave haited, it was ghosts. Which made this mission all the more frightening for him. The young Hyuuga was very interested in the surreal, but he feared the thought of other worldly forces occupying the same worldly plain as him. The boys foot steps were muddled and cautious as he approached the broken down and decayed living space. This house had truly seen terrible times, and its creeping mold and invasive greenery gave the house a even more frightening appearance.

Wave found himself quickly regretting accepting this mission. He had believed that his all seeing Byakugan, would be enough to see through the illusions of this abandoned manor. The steps creaked and squealed as Wave stepped into the old home. Upon entry he would examine the building, taking in his surrounding and locating any creepy spaces that may need to be watched.

Wave walked into the murky kitchen of the home, and sat at its table. One night, he just had to spend one night in these walls to prove there were no supernatural forces in this house. A pan would fall to the ground and Wave found himself screaming like a female toddler as he sprinted out of the kitchen, all the while wondering why his Kusakage would inflict this kind of torment upon him.

Wave had managed to find a nice comfortable corner to huddle himself into. His music was on full blast, playing the most calming tunes he could find in his many pouches. Now that the musical waves of sound flowed through his ears, he found himself more calm and realistic.

"There is no way there could be ghosts here."

His words were not a declaration, but a hope. His eyes were closed tightly shut, and his attention was focused solely on his music. The bass in his headphones were all the comfort the young Hyuuga needed in order to calm his escalating heartbeat. The high point of the song was coming up, this was Wave's favorite track, so his mind had completely left him. Poor wave would not notice the large eyes creeping up behind him, until it was entirely to late.

The second after Wave stopped screaming, he plunged his fist deep into the center of the gazing eyes. He felt his fist push into a flesh like substance, and shortly after he could hear the intruder fly back words into the staircase behind him. A loud crack could be heard as the floor boards groaned and gave way to the weight of his punch.

He could hear a groan coming from the stairs were the pair of eyes had been thrown. Wave stood up as he heard foot steps coming towards the pair of eyes from before.

"Papa! Papa are you okay!?"

The voices sounded sweet and innocent, there was no way they could belong to a eveil or vindictive spirit, but Wave couldnt see anything in the dark. He focused the chakra into his eyes so that he could get a clearer view of things.¹

Byakugan (All Seeing White Eye)

As its name implies, the Byakugan is just that, a featureless white eye that can occasionally possess hints of blue-gray and lavender, respectively. When the Byakugan is activated, the user's pupils become more distinct, and the veins near their temples bulge, representing the sudden chakra activation that makes the doujutsu possible. All members of the clan possess and can use the kekkei genkai from birth, as opposed to needing to awaken it. Byakugan gives the user a near 360 degree field of vision, except for one blind spot at the back of the neck above the third thoracic vertebra. With this vision, the Hyuuga can see through solid objects, and can use a degree of telescopic sight up to a maximum standard distance of fifty meters. However, by holding a single seal (tiger), the user may enter a "focused" state and increase their range up to a maximum of five kilometers; they must remain still during this enhanced sight, and due to their attention (and sight) being well beyond their immediate surroundings, are quite vulnerable to assaults. Finally, one of the greatest uses of the Byakugan is the ability to see chakra, chakra flow as well as the chakra circulation system inside the body with great detail. It is from this particular ability that they are able to employ their ultimate attack style - the Gentle Fist.

Note: Because of the eyes ability to see all things chakra related, the user can detect chakra sealed barriers as well as determine when genjutsu is being used. It can also discern a transformation as well all types of clones (spare for Shadow Clones, as the chakra is evenly distributed).

With his new found view, Wave could easily see the 3 figures just a few feet away from him. A small girl and a young boy were cradling a middle aged man. Wave felt a deep relief rush over him as he looked at the so-called "ghosts." There was nothing truly frightening about the bunch at all. The man stood crutched on the stairs, trying to recover while suffering from a bloody nose. The soft drips of blood could echoed as they splattered against the ground.

The man didn't seem as threatening now, so perhaps the sudden fright is what demonized him in Wave's mind.

Fuck I didn't mean to deck some old guy. Besides, I wasn't really that scared.... okay I was scared. But the old bastard shouldn't have snuck up on me! Now I'm gonna be the guy who beat up an old man!? How am I gonna explain that to the Kusakage!?

Waves thoughts echoed in his head as he walked over and crouched down towards the man. So the supposed ghosts of this house were actually a family trying to scare off future residents of this place. The home was sturdy sure, but it was nothing to be proud of, that is of course unless the mold and dust was all just for show.

"What're you doing here man! You shouldn't be trying to scare a shinobi!"

The man had not fully recovered, yet he still tried to sit up and speak. A little blood swished around in his mouth as he spoke.

"Sorry kid I was trying to scare ya' off. I can't tell ya' how many folks da' Kusakage has sent here trying to get us to leave. But dis' is our home! We been here forever, and there's no way we are going to leave!"

Wave bent down and listened to the man's story. The small family had suffered many trials throughout their residency in Kusagakure. The father of the house had to support his dying wife, as well as his children, all why trying to maintain a low salary income. It was a typical story in the slums of Kusagakure. The village did not pay much attention to those who could not contribute to the well being of the community, so it was very often that people would be looked over when it came to the Villages prosperity. Wave could whole heartedly understand them, as he himself had to suffer through poverty before he was eligible to become a ninja, and earn a living for himself. However, he could not let himself be tempted to kindness.

The man kept talking, although he had not noticed Wave switch on his headphones. The man only ceased his speech when he heard the loud blasts of music booming through Waves headphones. As much as Wave regretted it, these poor souls were purposely defying the Kusakage. That was more than enough for him to act as rashly as he had planned.

"Hurry up and get out."

Without further warning, Wave would sprint though the house , His Byakugan shifting through the buildings infrastructure. Wave quickly approached the support beams of the house, and shoved his fist through it. He would do this for the other six structures, before finding the main support beam in the living room of the house. He paused as he realized that this was the only beam still supporting the already crumbling house. He could see behind him that the small family had escaped the house, so he no longer had any reason to stall. Wave smashed the beam in with his fist, and quickly pushed out of the building.

The house crumbled down into nothingness. The loud cries of the family behind Wave were nothing compared to the moans of the house falling down. Wave approached the family, and pulled from his pocket a small sheet of paper. Without another word, the young Hyuuga walked back towards the Kusakage Atrium, to alert his lord that the job was finished. The family stood in awe as they looked at the small parchment. On it was the location of one of Wave's unused apartments just outside of Kusa no Kuni. It would be a hard journey, but at the end of it, this family would have a home.
