[/i][/b] worked for and not just given after five posts. You’re in foreign territory, surrounded by enemy shinobi, and you’re looking for their HQ. It should be dangerous and nerve wracking. I mean, secretly trying to find another village could be considered an act of war in itself. I should be able to read the thread and really see you searching. That means it may take you two pages, maybe even three. So, I’ve been sitting back and watching things unfold since the site opened, seeing what’s changed and what’s stayed the same. After a bit of thinking (and a pretzel and icecream cake), I’ve decided to post this here instead of sending a PM directly to the staff. Ideally, I would like for the rest of the community to weigh in as things are discussed to achieve optimal balance. However, do or don’t – that’s up to you guys.
VILLAGE FINDING
You may have to fight enemy shinobi that enter your thread (since I feel they should be open and, in order to even look for a village, you must be on hard mode difficulty) and try to capture and/or kill you. The point is that knowing where a foreign nation’s Hidden Village is gives you an incredible advantage; the next time you fight, you skip everything and show up right at their doorstep. However, there’s never any real work done for that power/advantage.[/ul]
WAR
I’ve said it multiple times in the past but was never able to implement it myself. I think it would be very beneficial to shift our focus on “war” from direct combat to a more interactive, mission-orientated type of conflict. We have so many options available to us opposed to simply storming the enemy’s base and killing all their ninjas and leaders.
Again, wars are very rarely fought right on your front doorstep. The actual fighting usually takes place on a battlefield somewhat far from either place’s main base of operations (again, even in the series, most of the real fighting between the major nations took place in the minor nations between them like rain, rice, etc.), and over time, moves one way or the other. To make this clear, you don’t have to kill the enemy Kage to win the war. They can surrender—most of the wars in our real world history have ended because the enemy nation surrendered, not because their leader died.
So, how do we do this?
Being mission-orientated, the Kages going to war would need to work together to draft up a list of special “war missions” exclusive to the event. These missions should could offer double rewards (because everyone likes bonuses).
This should be a set list of, say, ten missions. At the end of the missions being completed, the village with the most successfully completed missions is obviously winning the war, and can use the advantages each mission has offered to march on the enemy headquarters (obviously one of these missions should be finding the hidden village).
Even in such a bare-bones, rough format, just reading this seems like it will promote so much more activity than just: “find village, kill, leave.” It allows people to progress their own stories over the course of a lengthy event, build ties (both friendly and hostile), and also creates a unique atmosphere for what has been a rather bland situation since we all started roleplaying on the first NRP.[/ul]
Naturally, there would need to be some critical rules to avoid people spamming and/or taking advantage of loopholes. Off the top of my head, this system would mean wars wouldn’t be over in a week or so (because people don’t post like they’re robots and real life does happen). So, if someone died on their first mission, they could remake another character and jump into another mission.
Essentially, we don’t want this going on forever. So, off the top of my head, we could stipulate that if you die in the event, you can only re-enter a total of one time (i.e your next character). After that, you have to sit on the sidelines until the fight reaches the Hidden Village, because then it’s just an all-out battle for survival.
So, what are everyone’s thoughts?[/div][/blockquote][/blockquote]
