Raikage's Mountain

T H E R A I K A G E ' S M O U N T A I N

Raikage's Mountain is a considerably impressive super-structure built into the large mountain face to Kumogakure's north. The office of the Raikage forms the base of the structure as five more layers, each bigger than the last, rise above encircling the mountain. Its large body presides over the village as translucent blue glass built to withstand Kumogakure's many lightning storms covers the exterior. Thick wooden panels form the bridges between the six floors and steel beams fastened it to the mountain. Each floor is connected via super-fast elevators built into the mountain which forms the spine of the structure; each lift large enough to hold a dozen people. At the top of the super-structure rests a large antenna which can often be seen capturing lightning from the many storms, converting it to natural energy for the village.   

LOBBY:

[/b]A large rectangular room which is open to any class or rank, it serves as the entry and exit point for Raikage's Mountain. The numerous lifts can be located here which take people to the different levels above. General inquires are made at the front desk which include's reporting for missions.

FLOOR ONE: [restricted]

[/b]This is floor hosts the office of the Raikage and is the most secure location within the structure. This area is restricted to everyone except personnel and is only  accessible by a special lift in the lobby. This floor has a number of facilities which include a meeting room, kitchen, and gym.  [/span][/div][/ul]

FLOOR TWO:

[/b]main check point for the higher floors of the building, everyone who wishes to go higher must first stop on floor two. ANBU and CROW members operate and   control this floor with security head quarters and personnel quarters being housed here also. After passing this check point visitors may go to floors 3-6.[/span][/div][/ul][/font]

FLOOR THREE: 

[/b] The workhouse of the village operates on this floor with the Hidden Cloud's politicians and bureaucrats.  Offices and desks stretch the large floor as rows of book  shelves and file cabinets line the walls.  [/span][/div][/ul]

FLOOR FOUR: [restricted]

[/b]This floor houses the Hidden Cloud's technology division which is responsible for the village's latest innovations and improvements. The staff on this floor operate  the antenna on the top of the structure, converting the energy from the lightning into natural energy to power the village.   [/span][/div][/ul][/font]

FLOOR FIVE:

[/b]The largest floor in the super-structure, its purpose is to host diplomats and the village council during deliberations and meetings. Elegantly furnished with fantastic  views over the village many of the most important decision in the village are made here. [/span][/div][/ul][/font]

FLOOR SIX: [restricted]

[/b]The sky garden atop the roof has restricted access only to the Raikage and his affiliates. Majority of the space is open air while the eastern and western sections  are covered with glass in case of weather. Vegetation grows wildly as rain and sunlight is plentiful high in the sky garden and many flowers and tree's are native to  Kaminari no Kuni have been transplanted here, many with medicinal value. [/span][/div][/ul][/font]

The Raikage's Office appears as the balcony building at the near-center of the mountain base, on the first floor with the least amount exposed to the outside. The majority of this floor is embedded into the very mountain itself, essentially providing it with with an ultimate defense. What were once a clandestine network of hollowed-out caverns and tunnels, has now become a state-of-the art base of operations for the Lightning Shadow, furnished with a meeting room, lounge, library, and office. After exiting the elevator there is a small waiting area for visitors as two large wooden doors lead into the Raikage's office. 

To get an appointment to meet the Raikage one must report to the Raikage's Assistant to book a time.

Some of the things that were supposed to be happening today - it was kind of nearing the end of it's day. Dinner was cooking, the food was being steamed and all that stuff- but she was making her way to the Raikage Mountain- leaving her family in her apartment (she had finally moved in!) they were having one last meal with her before they left her alone, so she left the house - a click behind her as Makoto began walking. There was the crunch of stone as she walked - she loved that sound. 

Makoto's day could be going better- it was cold. But she was hoping to make a massive quality of life change - and so she was making her own way to the Raikage's Mountain. It was to set up a meeting with the Raikage - if it were allowed. Months in advance? Makoto had been waiting for a few years now. However it worked, Makoto wouldn't complain and wait her turn. 

Having finally gotten there, she went to the assistant - the woman in power, essentially. "Hi, I want to make an appointment with the Raikage." she spoke to the woman when she garnered a moment of free time in her (supposedly) perpetual business.

Despite nearing the end of the working week the day had been quiet at Raikage's Mountain. Arching over the front desk in the lobby her mouth gnawed on chewing gum as Benkai twisted a pen aimlessly in her left hand. She was usually seen racing around this structure making sure everything was in order and the Sandaime was up to date on all his work. But the cold of the night drew closer and she was enjoying this rare reprieve, until the glass sliding doors opened causing a rush of cold air to sweap into the looby, waking her from a daydream.

In front of her stood a young black haired woman requesting an appointment with the Sandaime. Benkai's brown eyes looked her over as a name came into the forefront of her mind. "Kimi Makato isn't it?" it was a rhetorical question. Of course that was her name, it was Benkai's job to know everyone and everything in this village and she was damn good at it. Before giving time for Makato to answer she spoke again.

"You're in luck. The Sandaime will be in his office for another hour."

"Come..." she smiled pleasantly. "Follow me and I'll take you to him now." 

With those words she walked Makato towards an elevator off to the left, one that was separate from the others in the lobby.

She had approached, asked her request and had been identified in a flash- Kimi Makoto. That was an interesting revelation that this woman would know her name despite having never seen the woman before in her life. I guess she likes to read? she thought to herself. 

Then there was the additional thought - was the woman aware of her status as being a Senju? Was she simple being privy to that sensitive information that Makoto could inherit the Wood Release? She had already been distinguished and notable in Doton and Suiton... she just had to keep training until being finally able to use Mokuton.

He was...free? That was... unusual. She had never been before but was in the assumption that the Raikage usually always had things to do. "Thank you." she smiled at the woman, who would direct her to the elevator.

It was kind of nerve wracking... As they entered the elevator she asked a question. "Is he uh.... in a good mood? I've never been here before.." she brought a hand up to rub her head sheepishly. Of course she was nervous. At this time. Fucking wonderful.

In response to her question Benkai paused and smiled for a moment. It was only natural for someone of her rank and age to be nervous over such a meeting. But Makoto had the courage to request the meeting and come alone, something Benkai knew the Sandaime would notice and respect. 

"Yes, I believe he is in a good mood this eve..." Benkai spoke as she turned to the genin, noticing the nerves evident on her face. 

"In fact, I'm sure he will be happy to see you. The only person he has seen all day is me - who I am sure he is tired of!" She giggled. After travelling in these electric elevators all-day-every-day she was a master of small talk. 

A beeping noise signaled their arrival to the first floor which housed the office of the Raikage. Walking through the small waiting area Benkai headed straight for the door, with her companion in toe. 

"Raikage-dono..." she yelled while simultaneously opening the large wooden doors. "I have someone here to speak with you--Kimi Makoto".

The closer they seemed to get to the office, the more nervous she was becoming. First to begin was the heart pumping - the next was her small trembles. She continued behind the woman - almost considering that it was actually okay, and she could.... send a letter?

She was about to try proposition, and if anything, demand more responsibility from the strongest and most important person in the village. And yes, that made her nervous. She was hoping to get some glimpse into his temperament - if this was something to be joked about. She was twenty years old and being made to feel like a child - an interesting scenario indeed. 

The woman called out and opened up the doors, to which Makoto couldn't help but take a deep breath and walk on through. Nerve wracking. Before even seeing anything, she took a step through the door and bowed respectfully. "Raikage-sama." such a moment was not enough to make her forget her formalities embedded into her by school.  

"Ehhhh..." nothing. She was drawing a blank, and that was pretty clear from the facial expression she was giving. "I- u-uh wanted to talk with you if that was okay..?" If she could be make comfortable, all would be well. Or this would be a very interesting conversation.

"Hmph..." A face appeared from behind an outstretched newspaper. 

In recognition of his guest the Sandaime closed the sheets of the newspaper and folded it atop of his desk. Tilting his spectacles to focus his vision he looked up at his assistant and the young female guest she guided into his office. For a moment he sat there watching Makato bow and speak, his mind connecting her name with the figure that now stood in front of him.

"Thank you Benkai," he said as he rose to his feet, arm outstretched signalling towards a comfy chair in front of his desk. "Welcome Makato, come in and take a seat." 

Maduke wore his trademark silver hooded robe over-top a bright yellow shirt as his long white hair fell messy from his head to his shoulders. His office was catered to his own taste as the space consisted of a grey polished concrete floor and wooden furnishings. Large glass bowls hung sporadically from the roof connected by wire, offering bright natural light to the room giving it a somewhat angelic hue. Maduke waited for his guest to be seated before he sat back down, brushing his robe upward and crossing his leg over the other.

His demeanor was calm and relaxed as a warm smile rested on his face. Despite this being the first meeting between the two, Maduke was aware of who the young genin was even if she didn't realize it. 

"So Makato, what is it you wanted to talk to me about?"

His body language resembled the epitome of heights a Shinobi could reach. Calm, conservative and yet freely open - all knowing that their hands were dangerous tools. That did not help settle her nerves at all. His arms gestured to a seat in front of him - and she obliged. The smile on his face, however seemed to give off a calming vibe - any other facial expression would've left her with little to say.

She sat herself down - and sunk into it. The chair was...  comfy. She began speaking. Slowly. "I...I'm twenty years old now." she spoke softly, reminiscent that she was actually still an adult despite her age - not many Kunoichi usually got through the academy: This was a more specialized field for Males. But she was still around. "I've been a Genin for seven years..." she had the suspicion that he was already developing his own response to what was about to come out of her mouth."I haven't been asked more from me -" her argument was forming, and she lent to the side as one of her feet tucked underneath her knee- to stop it from nervously moving. "I've never been asked to go above and beyond, I've never been allowed to go on a B-rank mission; there are teenagers, four - five years even that have surpassed me in rank and I want that to change." she looked at him from eye to eye.

She knew it wasn't his own fault. If anything, she was sad that she hadn't done something like this sooner. Even then, her pain would've been registered - the shame that she was feeling. "I want the chance to grow." she wasn't specifically asking to become a Chūnin - to pursue her dreams of trying out for ANBU, to be allowed to do B-rank missions, or any other special measure. She wanted the chance to grow from more than what was.

She had waited patiently and nothing had come from it. And now she was here.

Sitting back in his seat he watched Makato make herself comfortable in the chair before plucking up the courage to speak. While her visit was unexpected, the onyx eyes of the Raikage waited for the response he was anticipating since she had entered the room.   

Benkai swept past his desk dropping a plain brown folder atop his folded newspaper before scuttling back near the entrance of the room. With a single finger he flipped the folder open and surveyed its words as Makato spoke. The Raikage listened to her profess her age and how long she had remained a genin within the Hidden Cloud.

"Oh my..." he retorted quietly, letting her continue to speak. 

Oh ho some ambition and fire he thought to himself cheerily. Although I'll need to make this fortitude a settled habit; so that no tremor of nerves will never mar her purpose again. Waiting for her to finish, he paused for a minute as if reading the final line of her summary. 

"It seems we have been under-utilizing a great asset. What kind of Raikage would I be if I didn't let the next generation grow?" his words were calm and succinct. But his next question would allude to the fact that he knew more. 

"Maybe there is a legacy beyond Kimi that you are yet to fulfill...?" the words escaping through a rye smile.

The way he spoke was unnerving. It was as if she was being beckoned to speak more, was he being condescending, or truthful? Was doubting that she had made any progress, if ever? She really couldn't tell. But then his second words came out, and she lent back in her seat. He knew, somehow. Somehow. 

He had to know. A lineage long forgot, decades had passed since any mention of it, that she had secretly harboured the affinity for Earth and Water as a young Genin - had been nurturing the two natures like two children in either arm, but that those in turn created something even more powerful than she could imagine. How she had been forced to keep a different name. Unlike her real... true name. Senju Makoto.

"The Mokuton." she spoke, it was a statement and her tone reflected that. She had no reason to lie to the man. She sat back in her chair, and gave the slightest sigh. "There is no quest from what I have gathered, no life changing moment that awakens it all. I've been told... barely anything. I only know of my true name and what is capable of my ability. My job is to make sure I'm deserving of it, Raikage-sama." 

She didn't exactly know what to say. She wasn't any sort of prodigy, and everywhere she was now was a byproduct of her hard training. She awaited any form of response or request from the Raikage

Hand to his chin his fingers furrowed themselves in his short white beard as he listened. He was right, or rather, the records within the village had been right. A truly surprising and wonderful revelation, the Senju was a name of long prestige within their world. Native to the Land of Fire it was always a curious thought to consider how one could wander up the continent and into the clouds. Maduke enjoyed the curiosities of history and would make a note to investigate this fact further.  

"Of course you are deserving my dear," he said reassuringly. 

"Right now you are molten metal sitting in a pot. But I can turn you to tempered steel." His analogy was rushed and birthed from a tired mind, but it would get the point across.

"So I guess it's settled then." He said curtly as he reached for a pen and parchment. His slender fingers gripped the pen as he scribbled down some words before ripping a corner of paper from the parchment. Pushing it across his desk towards Makato he left it in front of her before opening his mouth once more for a final time. 

"Meet me here, at this time tomorrow." 

He would not reveal anything more for it wasn't necessary. If she truly wanted room to grow then she would take the paper and be there tomorrow. As the Raikage lean't back in his chair Benkai would open one of the wooden doors, signalling to Makato that the appointment had concluded.

It was like everything he said rung a chord in her. She gratefully stood herself from the chair, took the piece of paper and slid it into her pocket. Being asked to meet him again, on the outside she was calm and collected, and nodded. On the inside was a electrifying storm of excitement that resounded through her. For what reason were they going to meet again tomorrow? For better or for worse? But either way, their meeting had concluded. "Raikage-Sama." she nodded once more, and began to take her leave.

Before she left, she turned, bowed and walked out. She was with Benkai, again to take the elevator down. As they exited and the doors shut, she gave one loud audible sigh. All stress that had been on her - weighing her down were no more. "Wow..." she was pretty much at loss for words. "Thank you!" she spoke to the woman, and took her leave.

She had one more destination to go, and that was to hand out her mission that she had not yet completed. From that moment, everything had been done and she could go back to her family - and eat. Everything was at ease.

MISSION DESCRIPTION: Surrounded by the wilderness of pine-forested mountains, Kumogakure no Sato gets its fair share of wild animals in urban areas. These animals hassle, and sometimes endanger, the lives of our citizens on a near frequent basis. Lend the animal control operatives a hand, and help them capture, relocate, or-- if necessary-- kill any animals you come across. These creatures range from aggressive eagles to a lone wolf trying to scrounge up a meal.
