Pass or Fail. On the Road [TRAVEL]

The few days of rest was more than enough. The nurses at the hospital informed him that the injuries he suffered were far from fatal, though the blood loss was rather massive. He was applauded for his capability of survival after telling them where he traveled from to get there. Regardless he found himself well rested and prepared. Today was the day. The sun was bright and shining high in the sky, looking down upon the citizens of Konoha. Today was the day he would advance in rank, and grow closer to his goal.

His stood underneath a rather large tree that resided near the gate of Konoha. It provided excellent shade from the sun that seemed to beam down upon his face. His mind remained occupied by the future. The challenges he would face and the opponents he would battle. These things floated along the young Hyuuga's head like a boat stranded at sea, aimlessly going nowhere. His eyes that gazed upon the open sky shut themselves as he lowered his head.

"No point in worrying about it." His back rested upon the large wooden structure, legs and arms folded across one another. He waited patiently for his partner for the exams to arrive. He questioned why he needed one in the first place. However he was unaware of the exams tests. Simply doing it alone might have been far too much of a task for just a single Genin. A companion would be quite the accessory to have, had the tests called for a partner.

His confidence burned brightly once more after his recovery. Though his defeat weighed heavily upon his mind, he knew himself that it was nothing worth stopping him from his goal. It only gave him insight to the unknown. The very thing that he feared. In retrospect, he sought it a silly matter. The unknowing future was nothing to fear. Fear would come from not having the strength to deal with it when the time arose. He had much strength within him. Much training and praise from those he looked up to. Even the Hokage had high hopes for the young male. He no longer only had himself to disappoint if he failed. That gave him the inner strength and confidence to blow the Chuunin Exams away.

All that remained would be Kii, and then...to the Land of Iron.

[Kii!]

I was brimming with excitement. I had yet to face any sort of test like this one in my life, so a mixture of emotions were concocted within me. Still, above the rest, excitement overtook me. Through my eagerness, my anticipation, even my anxiety and my hesitation, I could do nothing but look forward to what awaited me in the Land of Iron. This chance was one that wouldn’t come again for quite a while, and there was no way in hell that I’d fail. Of course, I was completely oblivious as to what awaited me there, I’d already decided that it didn’t matter. Whatever stood in my way would simply get knocked aside.

My excitement only increased as I exited from the village. The sun was high overhead, bearing down on me as if it were watching my every move. A blazing sphere of intense heat--much like what I felt as I made my way across the small expanse that lead to a large tree in the distance. It was my destination, as, sitting beneath its shady branches, was my partner for the examination. Hyuuga Tensa--he was young, for sure--but I knew from personal experience that he was more than capable. If I wasn’t already confident that everything would work out perfectly fine before, having him accompany me would have done so. Thus, his presence only asserted my feelings.

Though what awaited us would determine our immediate future, my thoughts were settled upon nothing but the present. What the exam would be like, how I would deal with it--no, how I would succeed--how many others would be there, what the others would be like, everything! Shaking my head, I dismissed the thoughts. Despite my curiosity, they were pointless questions, which did no good to ponder, and would without a doubt be answered soon. It never crossed my mind to strategize; to cover our weaknesses. It had briefly crossed my mind before--that both of us were close ranged fighters, and we lacked any sort of long ranged offense--but it was quickly dismissed. The thought of losing, whether due to lack of skill or our weakness, had never once crossed my mind. I was simply confident in both myself and Tensa.

”Oi!” I called out, waving dramatically and smiling like an idiot. ”Tensa! You ready?!” As I asked, I’d speed past him, suddenly taking off in a dash and leaping into the trees. ”Come on!”

Soon, we'd be in the Land of Iron.

With a nod of approval, he watched his partner take off, toward the predetermined destination. His own feet wouldn't falter. He followed behind closely. While he lacked the excitement that Kii did, they both shared a confidence like no other. Thoughts of failure never even once crossed his mind, as he realized it upon his long venture. All that he questioned, all that he lacked knowledge off, not once did he even question if he would fail or succeed. Winning was the only thing on his mind.

They passed many lands on their way to the country where the exams would be taken place. They didn't even stop once to see how they would get to where they needed to go. Zero studied the map while in the hospital. With his body the way it was he lacked the permission to leave the bed or hospital till he was fully healed. There was little else he could do. They lacked the thought process of being tired. Though they ran for so many miles, it seemed as though they could go forever. It was only till they reached the Land of Iron that Zero would realize the level of stamina required to make such a stretch across countries.

"Looks as though we've reached our destination," he spoke up from the silence and still moment of stopping. The country shared some similarities with Fire Country, as far as scenery and some landscape went. However some small differences were noticed, though they would go without much attention from the two. Zero's eyes gazed upon where they needed to be. "That's the bridge we are to cross. Let's go."

I’d managed to quell my racing mind for a good bit of time. Traveling was always enticing to me--I loved to see new places and experience new things. Unfortunately, we wouldn’t have the time to stop, so I chose to simply ignore everything around me. Or at least, I would try my hardest. That way, I wouldn’t get too attached to something on my way.

The trees whizzed by in a familiar blur, eventually melding and twisting until I was only passing a mix of colors, rather than real, tangible forms. It was quite like my mind; nothing around me mattered much, not through the veil of excitement and mystery that masked my destination. Despite the long journey, which took us through many countries and unfamiliar places, my excitement didn’t die down. I was probably grinning the whole way there, and even as we landed before the large bridge that marked our destination I was still shaking with anticipation.

The questions had begun to surface again. What awaited us on the other side of that bridge? Who awaited us? What tests would we face, and what unplanned challenges would await us? So many more filled my mind that I couldn’t simply dismiss them this time, and instead chose to move as quickly as possible to find out. Tensa was already ready to go, which was great for me.
”Right! Let’s go!” I said, dashing off toward the bridge in the distance.
