Sanshouuo Tsuyoi (Mighty Salamander)
Summoning History
Originally the salamanders all formed different sects, some Aquatic based that where native to Kiri, others land based that originated in Hi no Ki, and the subterranean Salamanders that lived in Tsuchi no Ki. The Salamanders, all the sects, tended to shy away from Shinobi, so entrenched as they were in their own “summon” wars, against their natural enemies, the Snakes, and their prey, the Fish. In their battles against the Snakes, they realized the importance of having limbs, learning to stand on their handlegs and used their forearms to wield bladed weapons, all the better to slash and hack at thick snake skin.
Eventually a shinobi managed to master one of the Giant Salamanders, and used its size and power to procure a name for himself. This led others to seek out contracts with the Salamanders, but the rest had learned from their mistakes, instead banding together to form one giant sect and disappearing into obscurity.
In those years the salamanders gained a supernatural mystic, as they were rarely ever seen, since few no shinobi held their contract. Instead of bleeding for shinobi, the salamanders formed an army to combat against the snakes, but petty differences among the matriarchal summons led to their defeat. With their numbers diminished, the most powerful of the summons came to the conclusion that it was the shinobi who made them strong. So, they allowed themselves to be seen, breathing fire and spouting gushing torrents of crushing water, sitting atop the mountains of western Hi no Ki.
A group of shinobi would track down the Salamander’s, competing with each other to earn their favor. The sects had combined and intermingled, combining their strengths and weaknesses to create the ultimate Salamander family. The boss Salamander held trials, making the shinobi compete in a jutsu contest. In order to win the chance to sign the scroll, the shinobi had to display mastery in Suiton, Katon, Doton, and skill with a sword. They had to prove themselves able and capable thinkers, not prone to violent outbursts of uncontrolled anger, and above all, they had to have heart.
One shinobi emerged victorious, taking the Salamander scroll as his own. However, the man had in fact not been a shinobi, but a monk with great sealing prowess. He lived as a hermit, traveling the land, lending himself to the highest bidder. The years lead him to Kiri, taking the Salamanders with him.
Summoning Description
Amphibious creatures, Salamanders can prosper in land or on water. Mature salamanders generally have a body form similar to that of lizards, with slender bodies, long tails, and four limbs. They have four toes on the forelimbs, and five on the hind limb. Salamanders are often brightly colored. The species dwelling entirely underground are often white or pink, lacking any skin pigment. There eyes are distinctly frog-like, with horizontal pupils set in bulbous eyes. Salamanders can grow to a wide range of sizes, from small, hand sized E-Rank summons to monstrous, levathian S-Rank summons.
Respiration differs among the different types of salamanders. Some that lack lungs respire through gills. In most cases, these are external gills, visible as bright red tufts either side of the head, although the amphiumas (nearly legless salamnders) have internal gills and gill slits. Some salamanders that are terrestrial have lungs that are used in respiration, although these are simple and sac-like, unlike the more complex organs found in mammals. Some types, with both the water and fire affinity, have both lungs and gills as adults. Mostly nowadays there are only those of the lunged and gilled type, as natural selection has simply erased those who could only exist in one medium.
The skin of salamanders secretes mucus, which helps keep the animal moist when on dry land, and maintains their salt balance while in water, as well as providing a lubricant during swimming. Many salamanders also secrete poison from glands in their skin, and some additionally have skin glands for secreting courtship pheromones. The bigger male salamanders are famous for this, as their secretions reach far and wide, and the site of giant salamanders mating is unforgettable.
Hunting is yet another unique aspect of salamanders. In most salamanders, muscles surrounding the hyoid bone contract to create pressure and actually "shoot" the hyoid bone out of the mouth along with the tongue. The tip of the tongue is composed of a mucus which creates a sticky end to which the prey is captured. Muscles in the pelvic region are used in order to reel the tongue and the hyoid back to its original position. Most species of salamander have small teeth in both the upper and lower jaws.
To find their prey, salamanders use trichromatic color vision in the ultraviolet range based on three photoreceptor types. Salamanders have no external ear, and only a vestigial middle ear.
Salamanders will use autotomy to escape predators. Their tail will drop off and wriggle around for a little while, and the salamanders will either run away or stay still enough to not be noticed while the predator is distracted.
Now that the family is organized and united under one ruler, they all wear a gi of some sort, with the kani for their elements emblazoned on the back. The bigger, stronger summons sometimes wear armor; anbu reticent chest plates that fit snugly to their bodies, providing protection for their underbellies.
Summoning Allies
Because of their origins, the Salamanders are fond of Hi no Ki, and by extension, Konoha. They also have grounds in Tsuchi no Ki and Kiri no Ki, but hold less loyalty to those countries as a whole. They are loyal to their summoner, so long as he exhibit’s the traits they hold dear; honor, power, and cunning. They are allied with their cousins, the frogs and toads.
Summoning Enemies
They abhor snakes and their ilk. They don’t hate fish, since they eat them, but since they eat them, their relationship is strained. Don’t particularly like Ame-nin, since it was an Ame ninja who first dominated them.

History: As the eldest, In’amai saw much more destruction than her brothers, and because of her snake like countenance, more scorn from the rest of her ilk. This led to her dispassionate hatred of the world, and her scathing, unpleasant personality. However, in the world of salamanders, she was also very beautiful, more feminine than any Salamander before her. She became vain do to the attention lavished upon her by the male salamanders.
Her battle with a giant cobra summon was her “coming-out” party to speak. Originally based in Hi no Ki, the salamanders battled with the snakes on an almost monthly basis. A young, “C” ranked summon at the time, In’amai used her vicious, calculating mind to ensare the cobra summon, pretending to be a snake to lure him into a trap. Once the snake had ventured close enough, she bit into his neck, using her razor sharp teeth to cut through the snakes thick, scaled skin and crush his windpipe.
That cobra had family, and a band of snakes hunted her down. She refused help from her mother, instead choosing to defeat the snakes all on her own. Outnumbered in the foothills of the western Hi no Ki mountains, she lured the snakes into an underground crevice, and used her Doton powers to crush them.
These two battles defined her legacy as a vicious, crafty fighter, and she was never challenged again.

Name: Kinaki (queen)
Size: Colossal
Special: Ninjutsu
Gender: Female
Duration: 10 rounds
Personality: An amalgamation of her children’s personalities. She puts high value in honor, loyalty, and respect. She is easy going, but don’t let that fool you; she can change at the flip of a coin, and though not quite as callous and scathing as her daughter, she can and will show her enemies little remorse. She is strong of will and heart, and more than a little bit stubborn.
Description: A massive, beautiful creature. She is a three hundred foot monster, impossibly tall and long. Her skin is composed of rainbow like hues that change with the light. Her large, rounded eyes are pure white, and her pupils are purple. She wears a white gi with the symbol for Water, Fire, and Earth on the back, and gray colored chest armor, with her massive swords strung across her back. She wears forearm guards as well, each with symbol for “power” cut into the metal. To signify her status as the strongest salamander, fire like tatoos have been engraved around her eyes, traveling down to her neck and disappearing under her armor. She is a massive summon, but is distinctly feminine, with slender arms and legs.
History: Kinaki is the youngest child of the first Giant Salamander to be controlled by shinobi. Her father would regal her with fantastical tales of human men and women with strength comparative to the giant summons. She became fascinated with humans, even going so far as to eat a few.
After her father was killed, the fights against the snakes escalated, and soon she found herself as the last of her family. Angered, and bitter at the world, she retreated to a mountain, planning on killing herself. Instead, she was gripped by a seething rage, going on a self destructive rampage against the snakes.
Her rank was earned on the battle field in life or death battles against hordes of slithering monsters. She cut them down with abandon, with no care of her own life. Miraculously, she survived the trying period, and started a family of her own.
She was elected to be the boss summon, though she wasn’t the strongest, because of the regret she expressed for her self destructive actions. Hard headed, she declined, believing the title should be based on true merit. Instead of taking the title, she shunned it, retreating to her own home to raise and train her offspring.
Tragedy struck as her eldest daughter was coming into her own in the form of a snake invasion. In the subsequent years, she battled against the head snake no less than seven times, but each fought ended in a stalemate. She started to change after those fights, knowing that she was nearly invincible, which lead to a more relaxed look on life. She decided that she should be the head summon, after a life like hers, taking the mantle and never looking back.
