WWYD in a Zombie Apocolypse?

You're going through your average daily routine when you by mayhap notice a news headline, be it via newspaper, television, or radio, stating that, simply put, massive zombie infections are popping up all over the world, and society as we know it is going to hell in a hand basket.

What do you do? How do you survive?

Dun really care if the answers are facetious or realistic. I'm just bored, and my trolling in the box was cut unusually short.

Well... in all honesty I'd gather up all the knives in my house, and the samurai sword in my room... and....

Why would I bother moving just yet when the house I'm in is secure, locked- bolted even, and I have enough food to last me for aaaaages. So I'd spend the first couple of weeks housed inside my house, make sure I have the electricity to provide for everything, when that runs out- I'd move. I'd make an escape towards a railway line near me and take my way along that. Of course I'd take my way and visit the industrial sites over the place to obtain some lovely chemicals, to burn those smiling faces off the zombies.

tl;dr
- stay in the house till I run out of food and water
- Stick to the railways, only keeping a distance away from it to get stuff from small convienance stores, etc,
- get chemicals from the industrial estates where I live, that'd love to burn the face off anyone. <3

Real Method: Grab my baseball bat and a couple knives, then venture out for Chuck Norris, and hire him as a personal bodyguard. While I'm already uber safe, I'll flee to Canada. Not like I have to be worried of getting attacked by Canadians, peaceful bastards(jk, apologies to any offense given).

Grab a few bottles of wine, cigarettes, and go down to my favourite place by the river. I'd call everyone i love, say goodbye, and slip away peacefully.

Dunno if that's morbid, but i've always thought that i'd rather just take myself out easily than go through that horrifying mess of surviving. I've seen the movies, y'know? There's always a point in horrors that i think, wow, just off yourself already.

As a pretext I will say that I would not be strong enough to do what Daisy assumed was weak, as in, kill myself. I am much too afraid of the beyond, the afterlife, or lack thereof to do so. I would press on, regardless of the difficulty. I am also assuming we're dealing with limbering retarded zombies, rather than the intelligent sprinting kind.

Things would be rather difficult for me, though not as difficult as it could be. I live in a city, New York City, the population density is rough. I would react as fast as possible and leave with haste. Luckily I live on the very edge of the city, a mile or two and there is nothing but wilderness.

The first clear step is to pack a backpack as quickly as possible. In this backpack would be only necessities. A spare shirt, undergarment, shorts, non-perishable foods equating to a few days meals, a canteen of water, and something flamable / fuel for lighting a fire. I would also take something for defense, a large knife, a bat, or something of that nature. The smaller and easy to handle, the better.

Then I'd leave by day, for obvious reasons, and get as quickly as I could out of anywhere near the city. In the wilderness, I'd do my best to find an area clear from civilization, but manageable enough to survive in. I'm no survivorman, so that means, perhaps finding a location where road direction and relation to areas where food could be was in my mind already.

I'd stay in an area until it was unsafe or the food stock nearby was exhausted. Keep moving like that every day or so. Survive as long as I could.

Uh, I'd probably see if pretending to be a zombie would work lol. If that failed I'd grab me a lovely baseball bat, some grenades, guns, ammo, food, etc. Save people along the way, cause I'm that kinda guy. And because of this I'd eventually die, cause the guy who saves everyone ends up dying.

Like Coma, I live in New York City as well. But I live in more of the city part - the bronx, right near the bridge to Manhattan.

When you have a population so dense, and you take away water, law enforcement, electricity, sanitation, fire control, and medical services, chaos will ensure. Add a fuck ton of mindless, painless, tireless zombies attacking in hordes trying to eat your flesh and kill you - it's a fucking disaster. That's right, a fucking DISASTER will ensue.

It's way too dangerous to live in a city - it's way too dangerous to stay in one place alone. Zombies don't rely on their sight alone. They can hear you, smell you even. If they see lights in a house, they know someone's there, and they'll try to get in.

Here's what I'd do. Grab family, and any close by friends and head to my neighbor's garage. My neighbors have 2 SUVs, so they should be able to take all of us. They are four wheel drive and very safe. In the first few days, when water and electricity are still running, we would work on the cars. Adding in metal guardplates in the front, holes for the headlights. Reinforcing windows and tires. Packed in the cars we'd have food, medical supplies, tools and gadgets, and maybe a FEW treasured items.

I would gather all knives in my house and my neighbors', as well as a baseball bat, my machete, and other tools that could become weapons [hedge trimmers, shovels, metal garden hoes] I'd set up a workbench and begin modifying all of these weapons dead rising 2 style. My dad has a pair of brass knuckles, so I'd fix those to my machete to create a makeshift Trench Spike - a very effective tool vs. Zombies. I'd drive nails through the bat, creating a Spiked bat. I'd attach knives to broomsticks, etc.

GUNS ARE INEFFECTIVE.

In a city, a all a gun will do is alert all of the nearby zombies to your location. In a city, that could mean a lot of zombies. Once we'd packed up the SUVs, suited them with weapons we'd head down the road.

With our modified vehicles, trash along roads [disabled vehicles, junk, etc] should be a small problem. We would search for a suitable deserted building to settle ourselves into. Optimal locations are: Abandoned warehouses. Yes this seems bad, but if you destroy the stairs on the first floor and confine yourself to the upper levels, it's impenetrable - zombies can't climb, and even with a ladder only 1 out of 4 zombies will make it up, they're that retarded. Anyone who is bitten will be killed immediately or if they wish TIGHTLY secured to a chair or other stationary object. Another place would be a small grocery store. With those huge metal garage-type doors they bring down after hours to prevent burgulary, we could even have lights on and zombies wouldn't know. Even if they did know, they would never get in. And since it's a grocery store, we could eat all the perishable foods first and have a plenty to survive. This is the best location honestly. But as always, when we are on the road we are looking for deserted places. No zombies or other people. Other survivors in the city will be looking to loot you most of the time. Once we found a suitable place, we'd bide our time, talking and playing small board games or whatever to keep our sanity. If it all blows over, awesome. If it becomes out of control and engulfs the world, tough shit. I'd survive as long as I could and kill myself if I become too endangered. I DO NOT want to become a fucking zombie. Fuck that.

That's what I would do in a Zombie Apocalypse.

At least we live above the freezing line. We only have to worry about Zombies during the summer.



As for what I'd do, I'd get a car, my favourite 30.06, some ammo, and hit the back-roads. Travel as far west of the rocky mountains as possible, and see if I couldn't hole up with a large group of survivors in a secure location. After that, I simply wait for the Reddeker plan to take effect, manage my resources effectivelty, and wait it out until what's left of the Government (Or the New Government) starts employing proper procedural tactics. Also, if the zombies can run, then fuck it, I'm boned. If not, then we've got a fighting chance.

Hardly anyone lives were I do theres only like half a million people in the whole county. So me and a couple of friends would probley drive around shooting zombies, out of the sun roof of my car. That is of course assuming we could get a gun, which wouldn't be that hard to do.
