Tsukune is a young man of great potential and striking appearance. He stands at five feet, nine inches tall, neither exceptionally short or exceptionally tall by any standard, but tall enough to see over the top of most crowds. His body is lean and firm, built of strong, hard muscle that does not unduly crowd his frame. He still appears slightly gangly, as though his body has not fully matured; the long limbs of youth still grace his body. He has skin that is neither pale nor tan, but has a full olive tone. It is smooth and plain, without any special glamour to it. At the very least, however, it is soft and clear, something that the teenage boy is thankful for.
His hair is shaggy and unruly, just long enough to hang over his eyes on occasion. It is the colour of deepest midnight, an obsidian shade that highlights in deep indigo under the light. His eyes, sharp enough to be called piercing, are of a similar shade, a grey so deep and dark it is better called black. Lashes a bit too long to be considered masculine soften the impact of his gaze by just a degree. His features, though sharp, still have the soft roundness of youth, and it is clear that in a few years' time, he will grow into a strong chin and brooding eyes.
He dresses himself in functional clothes that manage to be somewhat stylish at the same time. He wears a white undershirt over his chest. Over that, he wears a black fall jacket of comfortable fabric, the front unzipped. It sports a small collar and sleeves that open into two parts about half-way up the forearm. A single, stylized emblem, the crest of the Hekinori family, is found on the back of his coat. He wears fingerless black gloves over his hands. On his lower body, matching black pants, neither too loose or tight, cover his lower body. His feet are clad in white tabi socks and black ninja sandals. He wears his forehead protector tied to his right bicep. He keeps his knife sheathed on his left hip.
Passion - Tsukune is a passionate individual. He is the kind of person who puts his heart into things without a second thought. It is not a decision on his part; it is simply the nature of his being. He dedicates himself to his pursuits, at times sacrificing his own safety and health in order to achieve them. He is the kind of person who refuses to acknowledge limits in favour of shooting right over them. He stands by his words, and acts with an inflamed heart. His convictions rule him, at times to the detriment of the situation.
Lonely - Tsukune, though he tries to hide it, hates to be alone. He has spent a great deal of time by himself, trying to survive on his own. The loss of his parents to the Second Shinobi World War was hard for him, and the time spent alone in an empty house, taking care of himself at the age of only ten, was traumatic. Doubt and sorrow tend to creep in when he is alone, tainting his normally fiery disposition. It is a side of himself that he tries to avoid showing to other people.
Competitive - Tsukune's is naturally motivated to improve when confronted with others who are superior to him. He seeks to do better than everyone at everything, if only to give himself a momentary challenge. His passion is such that he wants to be the best at everything he does. It doesn't matter if it is mature; it doesn't matter if it is rational for someone to try to be the best at everything. He will try. It also gives him a great respect and sense of camaraderie with those who acknowledge his competitive spirit.
