THE GRAVITY OF HER SMILE !Her hands wound reach out to his own, the power of the ocean would shift her core, causing her to stumble slightly. However, before even gaining the opportunity to slip, the massive hands of this man would have wrapped themselves around her own. Never did they look away from each other. Never did they imagine themselves distracted. Never did they once forget the heat of the sun above them, the weight of the ocean beneath them, or the gravity of her smile. No words had been spoken, and yet as they stared so deeply in to the eyes of their counterpart, would they understand each other. She took another step forward. His arms would bend to her back, and hers to his own. Her thin, frail arms had wrapped around his waist, and her head now pressed against his chest as though his body had been fit to be here. His arms would softly apply weight to her shoulders as his body would speak where his lips had failed him. Their eyes had drifted from each other, and instead replaced with the bubble of the ocean; a reminder of the life which simmered beneath them. Beneath them they could see everything. Every color of fish, every speck of sun which reflected from their countless scales- everything.
It was difficult to differentiate the wetness of her tears against his bare chest and the specks of water that would constantly remind him of his place within the ocean. However, it would only take a moment to feel the warmth that cried from her eyes. They were fluid, and ran rampant against his body. He held her tighter. She responded with a like-minded action. They remained silent for an untold period of time, grounded by the might of his body. A body that she had been familiar with, and would never forget. It was a powerful body, so long, and so strong. It had protected her. It had assaulted her. It had forgiven her and it had accused her. She loved his body, and she loved what it stood for. She loved him too- though that really went without saying. It wasn't until their silence would be disturbed that they really felt the need to speak. It was the feint sound of a docking dinghy, rallying its way into harbor only a few hundred feet away that caused her to utter something under his breath. It was rough, and meant to be inaudible, but it was for some reason that he could understand her.
"Don't you ever leave again..." She would make out in between sobs, her fingers clinging in to his back as though holding on for dear life.
"I'm here now." He responded to her, his chin falling almost in to place onto the top of her head as he would arch his neck over her.
Her eyes would remain open despite her tears- fixated on the idea of him vanishing from her life once again. The thought of him gone too heavy to even bare. The mysteries of his appearance, along with the graces of its reality had all faded, now replaced with the need to ensure that it would never happen again. As far as she was concerned, there was no where for him to go anymore, and she would hold him like this, right here on the bleach white shores of this ocean in order to make sure that she was right. There was no answer for her however, and as he gripped her back with his own powerful fingertips she would somehow feel more assured. For now, she could forget about the last day that she had seen him. For now, she could forget about the questions surrounding his arrival. For now, she could even forget worrying about him being gone. Her only concern remaining was making sure that he stayed. She had discovered of his arrival from their godfather, who up until today had been the only one aware of his arrival in Hi no Kuni. He had plenty of people to meet, though this reaction was to be the most pivotal, which was why it had been placed so high on the priority list. The older, plain looking man which had stood there watching them from the shoreline, with a warm smirk beneath the stark white umbrella which hung above his head, had long since gone. His left hand in his pocket, and the right on the handle of his umbrella, felt nothing but warmth. It was the same feeling that these two felt. The clammering beat which banged heavily against his stomach, and the slow, powerful pumping that would echo into her ear- it was the sound of their blood, and the essence of their love; their lives.
It had grown late, and these two had grown complacent in their being. The sun's power had ruminated into a weaker state. The clouds had grown more plentiful, and now they began to overcome the sky itself. It would return however- in due time.
