The blades of vengeances have fallen swiftly. The shinobi are no more as 'Absolute Justice' has returned...now, it is the Samurai that rule the Five Major Nations!
But at what cost? Have they become the very thing that they despised the most...? Heroes and villains seem to change roles every day, but one thing is for certain - we yearn for our freedom, for days gone by where we flew the skies unhindered.
Right now, NRP hasn't made it back on its feet yet. Will it ever? I don't know. But for the moment, I don't have time to log on daily to see my threads aren't going anywhere, my characters aren't being reviewed, my customs are collecting dust waiting on approval...it's just depressing. NRP is a shell of it's former self and I just don't see anyone willing to take the responsibility to fully restore it at this point in time. The staff for the most part are great, v5 just really screwed us over and knocked us down. There is so much potential here and so many rich stories that each of you have created. Even though my time has been brief I've enjoyed reading all of your works as well as sharing some of my own. The point is, I'm just going to give NRP a while to get back together and pick up the pieces. More than likely, I'll still lurk on rare occasions to see how things are going, but as far as devoting my time to roleplaying and developing my characters and their stories, well I'd rather wait till the site was active again. Besides I've got school, a job, my son will be ten months old soon, I gotta get my priorities straight. This is fun, but not in its current state or enough so to warrant dedicating my time here than other aspects of my life. Once things pick back up, I'll probably be around but for now, I'm taking a break. Thanks everyone who helped me find my place or at least start to find my place. My time has been short, but I enjoyed it.
The road quickly dissipated as they plunged deeper and deeper into the thickest depths of the mountain forests that enveloped the entire group. Ominously the trees kept silent visage as if they knew the group wasn’t welcome. They stood tall and firm like sentinels of the mount blocking all light from reaching beneath the canopy seemingly poised to smother the very life beneath their foliage. The tension that was building would begin to take its toll on the young genin. It was more anticipation than fear, yet it skulked throughout the woodland waiting to take hold of the first victim to succumb to it. Tenshi’s dark brown eyes scanned from left to right, up and down. They had traveled to far too easily, no resistance, no signs of life. This was by far the most apprehensive the Tenshi had ever felt on any mission he had ever embarked upon. For some reason this one felt different, the danger was almost tangible. He felt it crawl across his skin as he waded deeper into it.
He wouldn’t fall victim to his feelings, but they were very much real and very much there. Instead, his anxiety would be channeled into focus because it wouldn’t be long at this rate. It was an inherit trait that shinobi developed as they began to gain experience; one could simply sense that their mission was about to get a lot more complicated than they imagined. It was as if the mountain men were waiting, biding their time for the perfect moment to strike. Yet, here the company was slinking up the mountain side, out of their element and just waiting to get ambushed. The only option at this point would be trust in their abilities when the ambush came. There was no turning back now.
Secondly, my thrust ability is powered by a lunge and not a single thrust so I would actually be moving at those speeds only during the duration as I lunged at my opponents instead of just simply thrusting my weapon at those speeds. Is that not clear in the description or in general?
Tier 1 – Mistu-Heki Suto (Three-Pronged Strike): Through practice and proper training Yariheki practitioners have increased the speed of their strikes. As the aim is to quickly deliver blows in a short amount of time, Three Pronged Strike can be chained to any previous technique immediately in the same post.
Tier 2 – Kiduki no Uindo (Window of Awareness): An essential aspect of dueling an opponent is being able to comprehend their movements. As such, all movements within the user’s vision, including peripheral, are now capable of perceived up to 4x the speed of your average shinobi.
Note: This perception boost is only available whilst wielding a pole arm.
Tier 3 – Kikai no Uindo (Window of Opportunity): Adept users of Yariheki understand the significance and importance of quickly capitalizing upon mistakes or advantages. These users have increased their reflexes to astounding degrees. While wielding a pole arm only, a practitioner’s reflexes are now 4x the speed of your average shinobi (comparable to the 3rd Gate).
Note: This reflexive boost is only available whilst wielding a pole arm. Once this state is active, the user is only capable of using Taijutsu. Also, the reflexive boost does not stack with the Taijutsu Primary perk or the effects of the Gates.
Hakimasu (Sweep) Rank: D Range: Close (0m~5m) Type: Offensive Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: Low
The user crouches low, bending their knees slightly. As the user is in theprocess of bending they began to make a rotation while holding their pole-armoutstretched angled towards the ground or in a reversed grip. The user thenswiftly rotates a full three-hundred-sixty degrees. The sweep is intended tomaim or trip unaware opponents at the ankle level.
Keibou (Deflect) Rank: D Range: Close (0m~5m) Type: Defensive Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: Low
A simple technique requiring only that the wielder angle their pole arm ina manner that allows them to easily brush away an oncoming attack to eitherside. With chakra being funneled to the hands, the deflection occurs at fasterthan normal speeds. Even though the technique is simple in practice iteffectively opens up an avenue for attack and sets the wielder up for morepowerful techniques.
Suiryoku (Thrust) Rank: C Range: Close (0m~5m) Type: Offensive Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: Mid
Through a combination of speed and power, the practitioner can quickly takeadvantage of an off guard opponent. With a surge of chakra the user can lungeforwards at faster than average speeds. Using this momentum the user thrustsforwards with enough force to penetrate C rank and lower defenses.
Note: The speed of the technique is equivalent to the 1st gate (2x the speed of an average shinobi.)
Katsu (Smash) Rank: C Range: Close (0m~5m) Type: Offensive Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: Mid
Often used as a surprise attack, the wielder will feign a strike to gain anopening in the enemies defenses where they will immediately follow up with apommel bash. The bash is performed after a strike is feigned, either a jab orslash. The weapon is then flipped in an over hand fashion bringing down therear of the weapon with strong concussive force, now leaving the weapon in areversed grip.
Note: If struck in the head, the foe will be stunned for one full turn.
Mitsu-Heki Suto (Three-Pronged Strike) Rank: C Range: Close (0m~5m) Type: Offensive Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: 2x Mid
Three Pronged Strike is an attempt to capitalize upon the natural speedgarnered by utilizing the Yariheki fighting style. By enriching the wieldershands and arms with chakra, they are now capable of striking at impressivelyfast speeds. A practitioner can now effectively jab three times in the amountof time it would take to jab once. It had been said to appear as if threedifferent prongs were stabbing simultaneously.
Note: The success of the proceeding strike are depended upon the success of the first strike. If Three Pronged Strike is executed while the pole arm is held in a reverse grip, the pommel of the weapon will be used to deliver three concussive strikes as opposed to the blade. Landing these blows successfully tothe head will result in the foe being stunned for two full turn.
Jiten Bureido (Blade Spin) Rank: B Range: Close (0m~5m) Type: Offensive Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: 2x Mid
Useful when outnumbered or in close quarters, the user will begin toinitiate a spin while extending their pole arm outwards horizontally at chestlevel or holding the weapon in a reverse grip. The user then spins rapidly inplace delivering ten slashes in three seconds. The spin will end with the userfacing in the original direction they started.
Kosuiryoku (Great Thrust) Rank: B Range: Close (0m~5m) Type: Offensive Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: High
An improved version of the Suiryoku technique. The wielder will flood theirbody with a high amount of chakra enhancing their movements. The wielder canthen lunge forwards at speeds fabled to be untraceable by even the sharingan.Using this momentum the user will then thrust forwards with enough power topenetrate B rank and lower defenses.
Note: The speed of the technique is equivalent to the 3rd gate (4x the speed of an average shinobi.)
Kensei (Diversion) Rank: B Range: Close (0m~5m) Type: Offensive Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: Low
An essential aspect of Yukiheki is countering an opponent and their defenses. To accomplish this practitioners have developed a method for quickly and effectively creating gaps in an opponent’s defenses. When used, Kensei can cancel any Yukiheki ability previously used as well as its chakra cost and allow the user to chain another ability in its place. When used effectively this ability compares to a feint with the attempts to achieve similar results.
Note:The cost of Kensei is added on to the cost of the second ability used.
Intaseputo (Intercept) Rank: A Range: Close (0m~5m) Type: Defensive Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: 2x High
Intercept is essentially the fastest defensive technique available to practitioners of Yariheki. For the cost of 2x High the wielder can parry any A rank or lower strike. The strike in question can range from an augmented physical attack to a weapon strike. Once the blow has been initiated and successfully intercepted by the wielders pole arm the strike will be quickly parried downwards with blinding speeds capable of disarming weapons entirely or dazing a hand-to-hand combatant.
Note: Intercept has a 66 percent chance (1 through 4 on a 6 sided die)to disarm any weapon entirely or daze a striking opponent for one full turn.
Saidaisuiryoku (Ultimate Thrust) Rank: A Range: Close (0m~5m) Type: Offensive Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: 2x High
The ultimate variation of the Suiryoku ability yields devastating power aswell as a strain upon the user’s chakra pool. The user’s body is augmented witha vast amount of chakra as they ready themselves for this ultimate technique.Through sheer speed and force the user lunges at incredible speeds up to adistance of five meters. Using the momentum of the lunge the user will thenthrust forwards with enough force to penetrate A rank and lower defenses.
Note: The speed of the technique is equivalent to the 5th gate(6x the speed of an average shinobi.)
Issen Jinsoyuku One-Thousand Rapid Thrusts Rank: S Range: Close (0m~5m) Type: Offensive Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: Massive
While this technique’s name is somewhat exaggerated it is nonetheless the ultimate technique within the Yariheki’s arsenal. The wielder enriches their body with a massive amount of chakra in preparation for the oncoming assault. Then from any position the user will let loose a flurry of impossibly fasts thrusts untraceable by even the most skilled eyes. Each strike is placed at a different location in an erratic unpredictable pattern. With movements faster than lightning the wielder unleashes twenty strikes nearly instantaneously in a conical fashion directly in front of them. The cone itself covers a circular area of five meters directly in front of the user.
Note: This technique can only be used once per thread.
Yariheki or Spear Burst is an ancient and forgotten art used by only a select few that still retain the understanding required to wield pole arms. Once widely practiced and revered, Yariheki was a fearsome sight to behold upon the battlefield. The practitioners of this art would make exceptional use of the length advantage their pole arms held over traditional weapons. Furthermore, the art required unmatched precision and speed as the aims of this particular fighting style were to quickly circumvent the defenses of the opposing combatant and accurately deliver a “burst” of rapid blows. The art combines a mixture of several other styles while retaining a unique flavor of its own. Yariheki employs the use of quick thrusts and jabs akin to Kendo (Fencing)while also delivering wide slashes from great distances similar to Ju Kenshi(Heavy Blade Skill). Through this combination of speed, precision, and arcing slashes Yariheki has become a legendary style in its own right and has developed extremely adept duelists capable of handling any one on one situation.
Tenshi gave a curt not accompanied by a friendly smile in the direction of Yukiko as she formally broke the silence that existed between the two. As he had expected, Yukiko seemed to have a very diligent political tact about her and somewhat of a practiced social grace. Yet, she still displayed signs of a timid disposition as she kept her introductions short and to the point. Not that it was bad to keep introductions brief; in fact, it was refreshing at times to not have another shinobi’s entire life spilled upon you at first glance. That seemed to be the usual case though.
Turning his attention back to the younger of the two males as his introduction was actually less than just that. It was a particularly informal “hi” and displayed little to no respect towards Tenshi himself. It hadn’t particularly surprised him, especially as he signaled a brief wave and abruptly walked away.At least Tenshi had the courtesy and respect to properly introduce himself to the group. Once again, Tenshi’s eyes shifted from the youngest male the moment his began to turn his back, and now fell upon Sozin who seemed somewhat bemused as he casually joked back.
However, the intricacies of introductions were over and the time for business had been initiated as Sozin announced the absence of two individuals, more than likely the rest of the squad, as well as retrieving a familiar slip of paper. The man’s grey eyes held a much more somber expression as his gaze pierced each of the three individually. He would go on to explain what was really happening and the details accompanying the mission itself. He was precise and to the point, as he displayed a side that Tenshi could only describe as pissed. It was obvious that for some reason or another that the act of violence these ‘mountain men’ had committed struck a nerve within the Jounin. Tenshi let the man’s words wash over him and sink in as he began to visualize the scope of the mission at hand. He wasn’t necessarily as much nervous as he was perplexed. He had very little recollection of the mountain men in general as they typically had very little to contribute to the village itself. It also came as a surprise that they had gone as far as to capture and murder our civilians. The simple though left a sour taste in the Genin’s mouth as he began his stroll towards the village gates.
Tenshi was immediately met with a muddled array of greetings, which was only met with a puzzled expression as his left eye brow lifted upwards. Although he outwardly displayed a confused look, his mind was already unraveling the true intentions of what had transpired. After all the first ten seconds of meeting someone were typically the most important. It was simply within his nature to dissect every word and action, even if they were painfully obvious. In the instance of the boy, it was a classic case of insecurity. The signs were obvious. He deliberately took it upon himself to be the first to answer in an especially snide manner; a simple desperate ruse at establishing dominance through the use of intimidation. Such tactics, in most cases, had been dropped at the door step of the academy. However, some individuals still clung to childish tactics. In the shinobi world, words didn’t set apart the men from the boys, it was simple action. Tenshi himself had taken very little time to understand this unspoken law of the land.
The Jounin himself seemed genuinely sincere and admirable. His main focus was keeping order and establishing peace throughout the squad. He had taken it upon himself to prioritize the condition of the team as opposed to establishing his place as head of the team. The simple act of placing his hand upon the boy’s shoulder as well as civilly greeting Tenshi had indicated just this. The man was someone he would have felt secure and comfortable with as the man would apparently be accompanying the group on their mission. The boy on the other hand, was someone Tenshi would have to keep his eye on, even if he was more than likely predictable as he would naturally only act in his own interests.
Even the young lady in the background hadn't gone unnoticed as Tenshi spared a glance in her direction to ascertain some understanding of her as well. Her attire was appropriate yet modest, at least in comparison to the majority of the youthful girls of the village. Her attire and silent diplomacy signaled that she was more than likely moderately timid, yet she held the characteristics of a morally strong individual. Even though Tenshi had wished to know more about this lady in question, the curt younger male would probably rashly interrupt. Still playing ignorant, Tenshi placed his attention upon the head of the group as he prepared to reply to his inquiry.
“I am Tenshi, nice to meet you Sozin. And yes, I apologize again for being late but in my defense I wasn't given much time to prepare. You know how information seems to always get lost in transition, especially at HQ.”
His response was to the point but intended to establish a friendly greeting with lighthearted humor accompanied by a slightly crooked grin. Yet, it was only directed at Sozin as the other male had already made his position obvious and the female had yet to announce herself.
