Well, that was unexpected. For one, my question had been addressed to the man holding Youka, not herself. I had never seen him, that much was true. Muchless had I ever heard of him. To make matters worse, almost as if things couldn't get any more worse, you know, with her being cut and bruised all over, they were engaged to be married? I tried to hide my utter disgust at the idea from surfacing upon my face, but of course, without having much human contact in the last two months, such was quite impossible. "Hes your what?" Perhaps more had changed than I had originally believed.
My eyes never dared to leave Youka's own, even as her... fiance spoke. Having been sent on the high priority mission to infiltrate Konoha, I had missed virtually everything that had happened in the village due to me being in hiding most of the time. I hadn't heard of this Nidaime the stranger spoke of, nor of the exact reason why a Nidaime was needed in the first place. Literally, I was getting hit with all different sorts of, for a lack of a better phrase, mind fucking news - I didn't know what to process first. "You mean to tell me that in the span of time that I have been gone," I paused, steady, albeit hesitant, footsteps guiding me closer to my sister.
"A second Kage took control over the village, and ordered the promotion of another ANBU guard? And what about this--" My finger traced over from Youka to this Yamato man, hovering in the air slightly before falling with my hand back to my side. "And your hurt, too. Jesus, Youka, what is going on?" I added, returning to my original spot in the room. The impact of Shiro's death had affected everyone in the village, me, perhaps, the most. However, long before he had died he had made it clear in his intentions to keep the Etsuko family powerful and pure - to openly disobey something he was so adamant in now, especially only months after he had died, was almost like a betrayal.
