Taking after spiders in so many respects, the Sasanagi, with the ability to excrete their sticky substance from their pores, are capable of adhering to almost any surface, at almost any angle. As long as a portion of exposed flesh is touching the surface, a thin layer of the sticky fluid will keep them attached securely.

Note: This ability merely ensures the Sasanagi against gravity, they can still be knocked off.

Moulting is a technique used by many species of spider as they grow, and the Sasanagi have adapted this ability for combat. Though they do not possess an exoskeleton, they have a perfect substitute - the Nenkin no Yoroi jutsu. At any time after the Nenkin no Yoroi has been performed and is still active, the Sasanagi may slip out of this shell, leaving behind a perfect image of themselves, sustained for one post by the skin armour they were wearing.

Note: Though the moulting cannot move, it still appears to be flowing with chakra, given the amount poured into the jutsu on its creation. The Nenkin no Yoroi is no longer active on the user after they shed it. Must know Nenkin no Yoroi.

The Sasanagi threads are a potent combat tool, but one brand of the thread, gossamer, has other uses. Lighter than their typical silk, but weaker, gossamer can travel roughly twice as fast as the normal threads. These threads will adhere onto any surface, before the Sasanagi rapidly reels themselves in, pulling the thread back into their body as they are hurled towards the target surface, essentially performing a function similar to a hookshot. This movement is much faster than running or jumping, and is useful both in travelling across precarious terrain, and in avoiding attacks.

Note: These threads can be used either from the hands or the mouth.

A variation on the Kumo Souka, the Sasanagi infuses their net with their trademark golden fluid before spitting it out, causing it to harden instantly upon expansion. Closely knit and still retaining its chakra coating, these solid webs are capable of blocking one B-rank or below jutsu before crumbling.

I raised an eyebrow at his appearance, a faint smile brightening my face. So our tête-à-tête had not left a sour taste in his mouth after all - I was relieved. I held my tongue, narrowing my eyes as he stared at me. Did I have something on my face? He had seen me plenty of times, was he only now realising how beautiful I was? Perhaps it was a staring contest, and it simply would not do to lose to the Kazekage. Still, whimsy aside, it was strangely intense... Perhaps he - Ah?

He was very close. My expression did not betray my feelings, though I knew not exactly what they were, as his hand touched my skin. My eyes narrowed further at his words, and I shivered. I sensed that this man - this Kage - truly cared for me, in a way I could not recall having experienced before. I had been liked, even respected to some extent in Iwagakure, before my damning fall, but... I had been alone. I had never cared much for men, not after a few bitter tastes of disappointment, but this man seemed to understand me, rather than desire me.

It was interesting, and rather preferable. However, as much as his words had truly touched me, as he pressed his lips to my forehead, I laughed.
"Lord Kazekage, I am not a child," I peered at him with teasing eyes, my smile widening. But I shook my head, the amusement fading from my face, and leaned back into him, wrapping my arms around his waist, despite the discomfort from his armour.
"But thank you, truly," I whispered, my lips at his ear.

I would never forget how much I owed him. I doubted it would hang over me though, like a debt unpaid, rather that I would carry the gratitude and warmth I felt for him. I lingered briefly, before stepping away and smiling.
"Could any triumph of mine be anything less than glorious?" I quipped, waving an airy hand. I felt truly ready for whatever laid before me. He had affected me, this dark stranger, even if I would never say it out loud.

"I think I'm quite ready now, darling,"

It hadn't been long since I'd entered through these gates, but it felt like a long time. While I knew I couldn't stay long, part of me was sad to be leaving. I had been safe in Sunagakure, or as safe as a wanted Kage could be, and I was stepping now into yet more unknowns. Still, it couldn't be helped, and I couldn't depend upon the Kazekage any longer. It was time to make my move.

Or it would be, when my guide arrived. I wondered if Aka had chosen Matsu purposefully? I liked the strange, beautiful boy and his imperious airs, and I was grateful for the company - such an expansive desert would be difficult to traverse even if one knew its geography, and I was a stranger to these lands.

I lingered in the shadow of the great rock walls, nursing a vague hope that the Kazekage would appear to see me off. It would look odd, perhaps, as I was known as simply a Jounin of the Sand, and undeserving of special treatment, but... Well, it was just that. A hope.

Still, I was finally going to do something about Iwagakure. Would I find the aid I sought in the Mist?

I couldn't help laughing at the boy's emotionless observation, how strange these Sand shinobi were! Still, he stood corrected as Daichi rounded the corner, looking a little worse for wear and utterly unconcerned. Ignoring the captive at my feet, I raised an eyebrow at his words. I considered reprimanding him, but I thought better of it. He did not seem the type open to advice, and sooner or later his attitude would get him in trouble regardless. I couldn't quite imagine him acting like this before the Kazekage - though I would enjoy seeing it.

"Not to worry darling, thanks to all your hard work, we have succeeded," I smiled sweetly at the shirtless boy, before turning to Matsumoto,
"Your timing was wonderful. But I suppose we shouldn't loiter here, they're bound to search the area when they realise he's missing," I nudged Hanzou with my foot. I had already decided it was not my place to kill him, as I was not of the Sand, and his deeds or political significance held no sway with me. Besides, I did so hate the messy work.

"Take care of him, will you? I'm in need of a long soak and some scented candles," I stretched, walking leisurely away from the captive and the two genin.
"I doubt I'll see you again, but I'm sure you'll become a fabulous shinobi, Matsumoto. Look after your friend, he's heading for an early grave," I waved an airy hand without turning back.

I couldn't help bristle. It was all very well assuming the easier co-operation of Kirigakure, but what use would that serve if they had just been razed, their strength torn asunder? What help would I find amongst ruins? We knew nothing of the state of the village, and assuming Konohagakure would indeed defeat them, what village would seek outside contracts while their own strength was spent? I understood his point, but staking Iwagakure upon it?

He proposed I locate and enter Kirigakure alone, to request aid from a village freshly defeated. The risks were... I shook my head.
"I appreciate your advice, and will think upon all you have said. If you'll excuse me..." I stood, turning on my heel and heading for the door. Truly, I couldn't be ungrateful, given my circumstance, but I had to take matters into my own hands. Whether I sought aid from the Mist, from Leaf, from any other source - I would still be relying on an outside source to deal with my village. This was ridiculous, all of it.

I frowned at the doors, tossing my hair impatiently.
"I assume I must be shepherded through this labyrinth once more," I felt monstrously stifled. It was all very well sitting here making plans based upon assumptions and likelihoods, but he had not been thrown from his village, discarded like an incapable genin. I could sit and plan no longer. I wanted to get out.

I was truly relieved, and he had not pressed the issue, demanding to know why I cared about his shinobi killing spiders. This man had been nothing but gracious with me, and there was so little I could do to repay him... I flipped through the file, a scant report indeed, but all we really needed to know was that they were at war. The motives intrigued me, but there would be time enough for that later. It was strange however, did I catch a touch of regret? Was the Mist's defeat something that affected him? I couldn't possibly know.

His plan was clear, however. Naturally my thoughts too had rested upon hiring shinobi. As Sunagakure and Iwagakure were officially allies, he could not be seen to help me, so naturally purchasing aid from another hidden village was the safest political option, and yet...
"Still, hiring a defeated nation? Does it not make more sense to request aid from Konoha, given they clearly have the military edge? And for that matter, I am hesitant to involve any of the other hidden villages. I am aware my options are limited, but... Should I fail, it will be the catalyst for war between whoever aided me and Iwagakure. I am loathe to cause a war, Lord Kazekage,"

I frowned, staring down at the file without reading it. No, this had gone on long enough. I had chosen not to fight the Council before, and that had gotten me nowhere. I was a shinobi, not a diplomat, and the Tsuchikage to boot! I pushed away the document then stretched my arms above my head, breathing out.

"I'm being foolish, of course. If I am to lead Iwagakure, I must shed the blood of those that would stand in my way. I admit the Mist will likely be more willing to work, given their condition, and if you believe they will be able to offer me a strong enough force... Then my path seems clear," But the problem remained, how soon could I approach them with such an offer? If they were still embroiled in war, it would be weeks at the earliest before they would take on outside contracts - if they were even left with autonomy, and Konoha chose not to rule over them.

"How soon would be prudent? The Mist may not be in a state to accept such work for some time, and I simply cannot wait much longer,"
