The Kumogakure Academy is a place that literally everyone in the village has been to at least once. If not being a ninja, they have gone for a graduation, to look up an article, to take their kids to play- you name it. A very bleak building, it resembles nothing that other villages have created for their academy. Training their ninja to constantly be ready to react, the academy has an almost constant presence of training dummies for people to test their techniques against on the fly. Holding various classrooms, both children and adults are constantly in and out of the building, both to teach, learn and to access the library. While the classrooms take up the majority of the west wing, the east wing is actually entirely dedicated to the library, which spans a total of five floors! With an almost infinite amount of scrolls and books lining the walls, it holds almost every fact about Kumogakure known to the public, including a few articles pertaining to Kaminari no Kuni. Examples are seen below.

WHAT IS KUMOGAKURE?

Kumogakure no Sato is a village within the country of Kaminari no Kuni. Unique from any other hidden village, Kumogakure was built within the mountains, in order to find refuge within the clouds. For that reason, Kumo-nin have adapted well to the altitude, preventing acute mountain sickness. Foreign attackers will never be accustomed to the height of the village, so be sure to use that to your advantage. Like most villages, we train our lower ranked ninja to cooperate in three man teams for all of their missions. Once reaching Chuunin rank, and can lead a squad of their own, they will be allowed to create teams of their own. Jounin are not obligated to work with teams, although it is always encouraged. 

Kumo-nin are very diverse in their appearance. Ranging from pale to dark skin, as well as dark hair to blonde, there is no real archetype for the village. However, most Kumo-nin are quite fit- and are encouraged to take up recreational lifting in order to build their muscle mass. This, of course, has nothing to do with their genetics. It is also encouraged that they maintain constant conditioning in order to maintain their resistance of acute mountain sickness. Kumogakure's uniform has varied throughout the years, though now typically consists of a combination of black, white, and red. Typically, Kumo-nin wear black sandals, black pants, a white tunic-cut flak jacket, and a collared black shirt beneath it. While this varies from ninja to ninja, the most common variations are either a lack of sleeves, or a lack of a shirt altogether. Finally, the Kumo-nin will often use red bandages to keep their joints from spraining.

The personality of the village has remained consistent throughout its initial birth. Always very confident in their abilities, Kumo-nin all have a very evident sense of humor. While they don't always go out of their way to make jokes, it is very clear that they all love each other. There are occasional rivalries, but it is always out of good-will. While this is evident when together, their demeanor completely changes when in the face of an adversary. Never admitting to a weakness, Kumo-nin are often prepared to get the job done as quickly as possible. While small talk is hardly given a chance, when there is room for it, Kumo-nin are commonly known to trash talk. Having a history of being one of the most profitable villages in the world, they have a lot of room to do so!

WHAT ARE OUR PRINCIPLES?

Kumo-nin follow a very concrete set of principles. Often holding an allegiance to their village above all else, every ninja is expected to pay their respects to any of their fallen comrades. The solidarity that is built throughout the village makes them all brothers and sisters, and any disrespect taken to their comrades is disrespect taken to themselves. Coupled with Kumo's constant need to assert their strength against their enemies, this has created a massive movement that wants to prove their dominance in the ninja world, and are working together to achieve that goal. As a village, they can stand together and confirm: power is everything.

Kumogakure has had a history of incredibly powerful shinobi. From the shinobi who founded the village centuries ago, to ninja who walk the streets and rooftops as you read this, there are constant examples as to the power of this village!

N A R R A T O R

The world around you evolves in an instant.

One moment, you're standing in the living room of a luxurious penthouse, gazing into the one-eyed stare of a man you've known for quite some time. And the next, the dusty atmosphere of an underground tomb hits all of your senses like a wave of lukewarm water. Your pupils slightly dilate, adjusting to the dim lighting of lit torches. The climate has grown considerably warmer, and the fragrance of old rock and moss reaches your nostrils quickly. It swiftly becomes clear that you are not in Kumogakure no Sato anymore. You stand before the explorer's tent in Sahrotsahving's Sepulcher:

There is a doorway located at the far end of the sepulcher, towards the north-east corner. This doorway leads into a long tunnel deep beneath the stone and earth. The tunnel leads to an undisclosed location somewhere in the jungle, where a hidden bunker hatch resides. At the center of the burial chamber, built over the very tomb of Sahrotsahviing itself, is a massive red tent. This serves as the Raikage's temporary home, despite the small rooms surrounding it.

Under this large explorer's tent, Sahrotsahviing's sarcophagus takes upon the role of an exceptionally big table. Piles of books, pieces of parchment, scrawled upon maps, and scattered notes have been stacked upon this unorthodox piece of furniture, a perfect example behind the organized chaos of an archaeologist and adventurer. The tomb has more than enough room for just research material, however. In addition, rucksacks full of plants, herbs, relics, and other equipment have been placed upon it as well. Despite the considerable amount of room the sarcophagus takes up, there is still enough space for a mattress at the north-east corner of the tent. At the north-west corner, a small pot of stew slowly boils over a calm campfire.

Sahrotsahviing's sepulcher has been cleaned up a bit since its discovery. No longer do large portions of rubble impede navigation around the spacious burial chamber, and the small stone rooms surrounding the tomb have been cleared of debris as well, any embalming tools and treasures found there organized neatly into one specific room at the end. The hieroglyphics adorning the stone walls are free of clutter and open to translation, with the journal kept in the Raikage's tent. The haven is always kept well-lit with the torches and fire pit within, their emanated warmth balancing out with the frigid temperature naturally found within this underground chamber.

If you care to investigate, you'll find that the circular doorway at the north-east corner of the sepulcher is, for some reason, open. Its dark depths are slightly foreboding, a low hum resonating from within, accompanied by the sound of pebbles falling from the ceiling within. There are, of course, other things to take note of in this clandestine sanctuary. The contents of the explorer's tent, for one. And the many hieroglyphics on the walls that surround you.

The ANBU headquarters are hardly known to anyone in the village as such. Appearing to be nothing more than an apartment building amidst a fairly residential district within Kumogakure, it has tinted windows, an incredible amount of hallways and trap doors, as well as very little direction as to how to get anywhere. Basically, if you aren't familiar with the building already, you never will be. With decorum almost exactly like that of the kage tower, the ANBU headquarters has nice, clean wooden floors with a series of dark paper doors with various designs on them depicting the lighting god, Raijin, thunderclouds, and/or lighting. These images are incredibly empowering, and fit the persona of Kumogakure's ANBU quite specifically. Much more discreet than the kage tower, the ANBU HQ is a tower of a mere few floors, as it is only used directly before and directly after ANBU missions- and is not meant for meetings or to hang out.

The briefing room is fairly small, as it is typical for ANBU to go on missions with small cells as opposed to larger ones. Able to fit around thirty people comfortably, it is customary for the ANBU to kneel in front of the toumoku as he would brief them on a mission- and sending them off to complete it. This is typically dictated to the shinobi without writing, as to defend against any sort of compromise in intelligence. The location of this room is on a need to know basis.

T O R T U R E & I N T E R R O G A T I O N

The torture and investigation room is a shell of its former self. While torture is no longer an appropriate method of information extraction as compared to certain ninjutsu, the torture methods in this room are a shell of what they were before. Used more to prepare ANBU for torture, and to resist it, it is hardly ever used to any sort of means to an end- other than training. Alternatively, the room is still very discreet, and is amazing in causing anxiety, which assists in the extraction process.

Elevated against the side of a surrounding mountain range that protects Kumogakure no Sato, resides the Mission Base. It is one of the more traditional buildings within Kumogakure no Sato, and also one of the oldest buildings still left standing. Dating back centuries, it has been renovated a number of times while still maintaining the same structure. The architecture is proof of its age. In order to access the lodge, a shinobi will follow a moderately inclined path to reach the large double wooden doors. A very majestic setting, the low cloud cover often surrounds the building and path edge. Made of old stone and oak wood, even though it is not one of the largest buildings in Kumogakure no Sato, it withholds a traditional beauty. The time it has stood is a testament to the buildings strength.

When entering the base, the ninja will be greeted by a large, square, black desk with four ninja sitting on either side, facing outward. Although, one is more than likely to find this desk occupied by the Head Assistant, Utada. The lobby in which this desk sits is quite massive, and will often house ninja coming in from an assignment, or communicating before heading out on their mission. After requesting, or being assigned, a mission by one of these four desk attendants, or Utada herself, the ninja will then typically be guided to the hall to the left of the desk- the briefing hall. With 26 rooms for shinobi cells to be briefed in, they offer privacy for teams to prepare for their missions.

Adjacent to the briefing hall is the debriefing hall, which operates in a similar function. If returning from a top secret or ANBU mission, shinobi will usually be debriefed in the ANBU headquarters. In rare cases, however, a shinobi will sometimes be asked to a private briefing (or debriefing) with Sansa, the Executive Mission Overseer. These are on a case by case basis, however.
