Haru stumbled through the hallway, clothes half on, moving as fast as he could to the door. He woke up a little late, and now had about 5 minutes to get to the hospital. His job was easy enough, being late was something he couldn’t do. He’d finally managed to get out of the door with four minutes left, and would then sprint to his destination. It was quite a spectacle as he ran through the crowded streets so early in the morning.

He ignored the laughs and simply focused on getting there on time; two minutes passed before he finally arrived. He had a few moments to spare, and took the time to adjust his clothes and gather himself. He could be seen wearing his usual slender, collared black jacket, slim black pants, and low-cut black nin-sandals; a katana stapped diagonally along his back, and a small hitae-ate was fastened to his left upper-arm.

He’d exit his clan’s district soon thereafter, on his way to the hospital. He was wearing his usual slender, collared black jacket, slim black pants, and low-cut black nin-sandals; a katana hung diagonally along his back, and a small hitae-ate was strapped to his left upper-arm. As always, his expression was an emotion-less one; though he was a sort of enthused to begin the days task. Easy ryo was something every ninja loved, young or old.

Haru would show up at the hospital before long, and once again, the lady was there waiting. They’d exchange a quick greeting before getting to business. He’d make sure to be within arms distance of her as they made their way through the bustling streets of Konoha. It was especially crowded this morning, for some reason, and it got to the point that she had to grab onto his sleeve just to stay together. Nonetheless, they eventually made their way out of the village.

He would soon arrive at the hospital, finding Ms. Megume already waiting for him at the front door. He’d greet her with a smile, though it was empty, as he was now only doing this for the ryo. It’d be a task he could do every day, simply escorting this lady back and forth, from the hospital to Hi no Kuni and back. He decided that this would be done to occupy the remainder of his time spent in Konoha, as it still rewarded him with the same ryo as any other d-rank.

It would happen swiftly, as he walked the nurse out into the fields of Hi no Kuni to pick ingredients. She was an expert, and quickly found what she wanted. The boy would simply stand there, helping her get certain herbs when she asked; but for the most part, making sure she wasn’t harmed in any way. They were only the outskirts of town, so the odds of that happening were very slim. Soon she’d finish, after which he’d take her back to the hospital and deliver the ingredients.

He’d only recently arrived back in Konoha after traveling to the edge of Hi no Kuni, and was already preparing for his next mission. He finished his breakfast on the way out of the door, and threw it away while leaving the compounds. As he walked, Haru could be seen wearing his usual slender, collared black jacket, slim black pants, and low-cut black nin-sandals; a katana stretched along his back, and a small hitae-ate was fastened to his left upper-arm.

He was headed toward the hospital, which was where his next mission would commence. His task was to escort a nurse out of Konoha to get medicine ingredients. He took it because it looked like it’d require little to no effort on his part. Lately, the boy’s drive and ambition had been lacking; this due to the fact that he wasn’t going to be staying in Konoha for much longer. He believed that eventually it would fall, as there just weren’t enough skilled ninja around anymore.

Even in the silence, it was still hard for Haru to completely focus and deliberate on what he’d do next. It was true that this was an off day for him, and he really didn’t have much to do; however, the meeting with Shinobu had given him a lot to think about. He needed to plan his next moves, and while sitting here he wouldn’t be able to do that. Therefore, the young boy would get up, simultaneously giving a farewell speech to the Bunke member.

“Well, it was nice talking, you’ve definitely given me a lot to think about… maybe we can spar next time, if you’re feeling better, that is… ha I almost forgot, you probably don’t know your way back.. you can follow me if you want.”

He’d wait a few seconds for Shinobu to follow him, though if he didn’t he’d still continue. They’d go through the streets of Konoha, and back into his clan’s district. He’d laugh as he re-entered, he was now seeing things in a different light; it was a complete turn-around from how he felt when exiting them not too long ago. If Kaede was with him, he’d give a final wave in goodbye; it was undeniable that he’d changed.

For better or for worse, he wasn't sure, but either way the young Hyūga had a lot to contemplate on.

As the moments dragged on, he would begin to raise his suspicions on whether the boy in front of him was, like so many others in the main family, that same snobby, stiff-necked Hyūga. It was their kind that disgusted Haru; as he didn’t believe being a Hyūga was about arrogant pride, and putting others down. However, he wasn’t one that was quick to judge; although he was suspicious, the feelings would remain hidden.

For the time being, he would be respectful to this Shinobi; therefore, no emotion apart from calmness and tranquility could be read from his face — even if his thoughts were raging. He’d continue with this approach as the boy introduced himself to be Hyūga Yuminari, and of course, Main House member. He’d continue with an apology fitting of a stereotypical Sōke member, he’d take it with a faint snarl that’d vanish as quick as it appeared.

It wasn’t that he didn’t like this fellow clan member, there were just certain things that really aggravated the boy. The Hyūga that acted this way were the ones that made slaves of the Bunke, and the only type he’d ever fought; he wouldn’t throw Yuminari into that pit quite yet. This Shinobi wasn't completely normal, as he did carry a large bow on his back; after observing it for some time, he decided he'd ask why if given the chance.

It wasn't like most in his clan to carry weapons, as their hands were deadly enough; he carried his own solely because it had once belonged to his deceased brother. His thoughts would linger on this, before finally being snapped back into reality via another question. Haru continued to stand there as it was asked, this time pertaining to whether or not he’d lived in the compounds.

“I live in the compounds; though alone, separate from the majority. I don’t like to involve myself with the conceited nature of the Sōke’s mass — I do take pride in my clan, excluding a few, certain aspects.”

He’d observe Shinobu’s every move as he spoke, almost regretting the words as they left his mouth. While it had felt right at the time, looking back he wasn’t sure if it’d been the best choice to voice such thoughts. Seeing as they were bandaged up, he doubted they’d try and run for it; but Haru could never be too sure, and would react on even the slightest perceived motion. He didn’t want the Genin opposite him going and reporting any of it, as they may have felt obligated.

Based on their meeting thus far, he had no reason to believe the boy would do such a thing. However, he wasn’t used to telling his secrets to anyone; this due to the aftermath caused by his brother’s death, and the isolation he’d lived in since. He would stay in this tense state for a few more moments, finally deciding to loosen up when he felt the Konoha-nin wasn’t going anywhere. He’d give them an uncertain smile as he reverted back to his previous state-of-mind.

The silence that followed would give him some time to calm; he’d then pay his full attention back toward Shinobi. He wondered how the Bunke Hyūga would respond, if at all, to everything he’d just said. As the moments drew, he became more and more anxious — hoping he didn’t react in a negative way. Instead, what he said would counter Haru’s argument, and also give him a little more perspective on the branch family.

“Being able to move… is the privilege of those with ‘free will’. My free will was long ago taken from me. Even if I had it… I would not have the permission from my caretaker, and going against that would be betrayal.”

With this, it became apparent to Haru that Hyūga Kaede truly was a slave. There weren’t many important decisions they could make without judgment from the Sōke. He’d lived a free life for the eleven years he’d been alive, and couldn’t imagine being put under the weight that Shinobu had to bear. It was most likely an everyday struggle being a Bunke member; the young boy believed he’d go mad if put in the same situation.

“It’s not fair, Shinobu…”

Wanting to take his mind off of these thoughts, he’d quickly speak again.

“Hmm… By the way, why do you use that name? Why not be called Kaede?”
