The cool wind flowed around the short blade of Asashio’s gladius as it sung through the air. Asa’s strong arm guided the lethal weapons movements with skillful precision. The blade reflected the sunlight, shimmering like a diamond. Even though sweat slicked his strong silhouette, Asa’s battle garb prevented his outer robes from sticking in place. The wind flowed over them causing ripples to run their course. It wasn’t a cold day, but the crisp mountain air filled his lungs, causing white steam to rise with every purged breath.

He worked the forms in a dark earthen clearing. He seemed to dance over the smooth eroded surface of the ground, no plants to obstruct his feet. The sky was clear in these early hours. The sun had barely cleared the mountain tops, burning away most shadows in the area, but still cast the orange and red colors of sunrise across the horizon. The soft sounds of his efforts echoed across the landscape, that stretched approximately 50 meters in total. His crimson eyes studying his form to allow for better self critiquing.

A new day, with a new beginning for the jovial man they called Asa.

The shinobi seemed eager for battle on this random occurence. A shipwreck lay evident within the background and the waves pulled it more and more out to shore with every weeping second.

Asashio stands amongst the sandy beach in front of a glass mirror looking into his reflection. This very same mirror seems to move soothingly like a puddle of water against the mild wind. It is only a few steps closer… should you dare to go that length.

The choice is yours, young uchiha.

The soft and sticky sand was all that greeted Asa's outstretched form. His right side buried in its desolate existence. Shifting slightly he felt this "wanna be earth" move, sliding from his form in the vein attempt to reclaim its former resting place. The world was a humid wasteland, and Asa was the center piece. All around him the tides crashed in, like the sounds of thunder rolling through the mountains. Mountains?....

....the crisp mountain air filled his lungs, causing white steam to rise with every purged breath.....

His mind went blank for a moment. Trying to remember where that thought came from was like dipping your bare hand into a stream and trying to pull water up. It seemed to be there, but when you bring it to the surface it suddenly slips through your grasp. His mind felt porous. Tiny holes where memories should be created canyons in his thoughts. What had happened?

Looking around Asa saw the nautical debris flowing onto the beach. Planks of wood, lengths of rope, and stitching of a sail all were tossed about the sun bleached sands. The boat that generated the material lay rolling towards the open ocean. In front of him a glittering shard of what seemed to be glass.

"No, not glass, but water."

The words rolled off of Asa's tongue, but seemed to be coming from somewhere far away. The sound of his own voice weak and tired from his now forgotten experience. It was no less true though. The shimmer wasn't glass. Ripples broke its serene surface, serenading Asa's perceptions. Movement. Asa wasn't sure which moved first, him or the shimmering construct, but he suddenly felt closer. The shimmer was within arm reach of Asa. And Asa's arm was beginning to stretch to make contact with its surface.

[/i] Little did he know he’d be consumed by the mirrors' luminous grasp. Asashio would not be able to see much… only a blinding white light that flashes before his eyes just as he steps into the reflection. A silver substance covers him almost instantly… dragging him into the parallel…

and now…

Only silence. Asashio finds himself standing ahead… a dim brink of light can be seen if one were to chase this corridor. Behind him was that exact same mirror but within it all he would see were his body in the same stance at the beach, frozen in time it seemed. There were only but one choice, surely… and that was to proceed ahead with caution.

If the chuunin were to somehow find light he might be able to do more than just wince his way through the cave. In fact.. he might find it that bringing light to this cave would delve further into solving the mystery of this strange occurrence which led him here. Tread softly, uchiha, your life is all you have with you.

His finger tips submerged into the shimmering pools soft surface. The cool sense of the shimmer surrounded his digits and felt odd. Almost slimy. Pulling his hand away the white liquid clung to his digits, slowly moving up his arm. In a panic Asa tried scrubbing the liquid off, only succeeding in spreading it further. It crawled over him, eventually covering his form.

White light was what arose. Pure and blinding, filling Asa's thoughts with so much dread that his screams had no room to register. Then, he was dumped in darkness. The light gone, and the feeling of the cold hard ground against his body....

....He seemed to dance over the smooth eroded surface of the ground, no plants to obstruct his feet. The sky was clear in these early hours....

The sky? There was no sky here. Just emptiness. The darkness covering all. The fragments of memory grated at Asa's patience. The fear of the unknown pelting him without mercy. Pushing himself up, he now knelt on what felt like rocks. Perhaps a cave? The only distinguishing objects at either end of this black tunnel. At the rear, the silhouette of a man. Someone he thought he recognized. Someone he thought he should be familiar with. At the other, nothing but light which entered the tunnel, and then was gobbled by the insatiable hunger of darkness. His feet carried him forward. Shadows held no safety. Only light would keep him from madness....or would it. The shimmer from before fading into distant memory. Memory that at this moment was broken.

Outside were a luscious waterfall beaming down upon the waters… and if Asashio were to stick his head through the water he would see he were at the bare end… and he could step through with no worry of falling.

Asa's feet echoed off the stones that created the floor of the cave. The darkness was being left behind as he made his way to the opening. The light blocked his vision for a time. Spots danced in front of him as his eyes slowly adjusted to the excessive sun. Cool fresh water cascaded out in from of him. It was the first fresh water source he could remember since....

His hand clutched his forehead. The memories, or lack there of, were generating intense headaches. He felt the need to hold his head for fear his brains would simply ooze from their confines. Sticking his head gently into the cold water of the falls he allowed the moisture to flow over the back of his head. Hair became slicked down against his scalp. The coolness helped stem the pain from headaches.

Removing his head from the flowing water, Asa would look out over the open area to see what he could find. His memories weren't any help, but perhaps he could get some idea of what was assaulting his senses. How did he get to wherever this was?

His words glided through his teeth rather "ohm"-ly. His presence was very demeaning and from the adrenaline rushing through everyones veins at this point... they could tell he was not to be taken lightly. He was the game master. Skin glow with golden intent and eyes bore symbol of encircling rings. The rinnegan. The game master awaited Asashio's, as well as the other uchiha, to commence a response and to enter his realm of understanding.

Asa’s eyes widened as he gazed out over the oasis. If not for the decaying meat, some of which was human, this place might have been nice. His nose twitched as he inhaled the rotten smell, and he quickly pulled the neck of his robe up as a make shift filter for the smell. It did little, but it was more for the piece of mind that the motion gave then any other reason.

As Asa stood at the precipice of the cave entrance, he saw three men coming from the forest that surrounded the oasis. The epic trees belittling their forms. A man in the middle of the water that his cooling waterfall fed called out to all of them.

"All Uchiha who have found yourselves here today. Please show your faces now. I know where you are but you all have not met each other thus far.... meet me on these waters.. now. "

“Uchiha?.... The word came from Asa but his train of thought was suddenly derailed as the headache gripped him inagony.

“…His crimson eyes studying his form to allow for better self critiquing…”

The mind numbing pain began to subside, as crimson and black bloomed in his pupils. The red sharingan, with its two tomoe ushered his vision out of the blur the agony had created, and as it activated he felt his mind begin to right itself. Memories stopped colliding with each other. Though he still couldn’t grasp what had happened thus far, he knew that as long as he kept a clear head he could get through this. He wasn’t about to take any chances here though. Earthen material would begin the crawl up his feet and envelop his form. He would not fight these men to simply gain an improvement on the sharingan. The Uchiha clan needed to keep its numbers strong, and if gaining the third tomoe meant killing these men, he would have no part of it. But Asa wasn’t stupid. He knew not every clansmen was as forward thinking as he. So he armored himself and was ready to fall back should the others try something foolish.

Hopping through the crisp waters of the falls, Asa landed on the pond where the sage stood. He was approximately one meter from the sage, standing at lazily. The glow created from the sages form was brilliant. Asa’s eyes were practically drawn to its radiance. It distracted him completely from the rings within the sages eyes.

“Sir, pardon my ignorance but who are you?”

Asa’s trademark, toothy smile was displayed, and his tone was similar to one he would give someone he was trying to persuade into buying him a drink.

[/i] Surely this game of brother against brother would fall too easily if he were to be tempered… but maybe Asashio’s thoughts were not so feeble after all. Maybe, just maybe, it were the sage who had to be defeated. Mystery trumpeted along the waters as the other three figures emerged upon the waters all at different angles… forming the square just as the sage predicted. His hands pointed to the man with one tomoe, the kid to the far left.

“Uchiha Yuro, from the land of tea. Your opponent today will be Asashio Uchiha of the cloud village. If you choose not to fight… you will die where you stand. “

His voice echoed forth to the heavens just as the cluster of clouds made their way over the skies. The young Yuro stepped forth, shaky and scared. Tears rolled down his eyes in a muster, he had no intent to fight. Only 13 years of age it’d seem, his brown hair draped down to his shoulders in a flurry of dread locks. He seemed shaky but his eyes blazed with fury just as any other uchiha did. Sweat amassed his figure as he stepped to the scene and faced Asashio. Two different ninja with the same blood line.

The sage laughed in discontent as a murder of crow latched themselves along the trees. This was some scary shit… and it only were meant to get worse.

Asa saw the boy who had been designated as his opponent. A young boy, not even a man, sniveling. He had the dual tomoe, but he was inexperienced in the ninja way it would seem. The land of tea, as Asa recalled didn’t have a ninja village. Perhaps that was the reason. Asa focused a glare at the man, though his smile never dissipated. A steady heat was added to the tone of his voice as he jumped back 5 meters to stand on a ridge of rocks and addressed the “sage”.

”Well Goldie. I for one am not going to hurt this child. He’s just a kid you sand bagging son of a bitch. If that means you’re gunna strike out at me, then bring it you god playing fool. Even if I lose at least I don’t go down murdering helpless children.”

Asa stood wary of the man a few feet away, the intensity of his voice had picked up while he talked, and he only just now realized it. The other Uchiha were gazing at him with various expressions. His sharingan focused on the golden man. The essence of a god? Truly a lie. No god would flat out tell a man to murder a child. The good gods wouldn’t allow him to do it, and the evil ones would manipulate him to avoid defiance. This was a mere mortal with a superiority complex that Asa wasn’t taking a liking to.

The moisture in Asa’s hair dripped down landing on the earth beneath his feet, ticking the seconds away as he waited there for what seemed like an eternity.

Young Yuro kept himself within the background with fists griped at the hilt of his most beloved blade. One swift flicker sent him within motion towards Asashio drawing nearer to his figure. He were quicker than most shinobi… but definitely swifter than Asashio when it came to speed… the cloud ninja may have found it difficult to see the movement with his tomoe on the turn. His blade was not drawn yet but he would not need it yet as he stepped closer to the young cloud ninja in attempts to close the distance but he’d stopped short for just a second. To second think himself.

He breathed whole heartedly as he awaited for their dialect to end.

Asa stood there, confronting the golden sage. The casual tone with which he addressed the man left the other Uchiha in the area with their mouths gaping. How dared he? That was what Asa knew they were all thinking. How could someone pass up the opportunity for an improved sharingan, simply because it would mean getting their hands dirty? There was a simply answer. Asa had principles. The sharingan was just a tool to Asa. Sure, to many Uchiha it held the secrets to glory and riches, but to Asa it was nothing more then a weapon he used to succeed in missions. He never would rely on it. Merely use it. It’s that reasoning that made him not flinch when Yuro, the young man from tea, charged him.

Asa saw where Yuro was standing, and he saw his trajectory when Yuro left, but it was so fast. The boy moved like a viper, the blade being his iron fang. Not seeing the boy move didn’t cause him panic though. He stood rock steady. If he couldn’t rely on sight and reflexes to save him, he’d merely rely on his armor. The earth was his most reliable weapon. Always there to aid him in dire circumstances. Now with Yuro pressing down on him, Asa was having some second thoughts about hurting the lad. If he was going to throw Asa’s mercy in his face, then perhaps he deserved it. But he was still a boy. Asa would not be budged on this. Asa responded to the sage with a more comical, and light hearted tone. He had a pension for worsening situations with his humor, but he found this mans stretch towards god hood amusing.

“Well Goldie. That’s a tough question. I always seek a good bit of brandy. That always goes down smooth. Some good music is usually pleasant. Good company also is something worth searching for. Alas, I surmise I shall not find that last one here.”

Chakra formed in his feet. He wouldn’t leave his armor as his only defense. But the first move would not be his.

The sages’ words trumpeted along the ground like an earthquake, waves of sound finally entering Yuros mind only seconds after.

Yuro’s words spat out as if they were loaded into his neck like a cannon. He was compulsive in his own shoes… but dare not show his agitation to his opponent. A short gulp pleaded just after his response. The sage nodded once more and began to rise to the top of the arena using his body to exert a bright golden light. This light would be seen as a sun, of sorts, and be used as a light for their darkness.

The boy known as Yuro… was not ahead of the game within the realm of sharingan but his speed far surpassed the chuunin. His rebellious attitude made his movements quite random which made fighting him even more difficult whilst using the sharingan. Did relying on an eye simply mean just to use it…? Surely he would have to rely on it somewhat to capture the direct mark of leave for if he had deactivated his doujutsu he would find it quite hard to predict the uchihas next move.

With an absence of mind the boy seemed to disappear from view and into the air. It’d take a moment for Asa to see, but the dust protruding from the boys feet would leave a significant amount for the uchiha to predict his actual movements. Yuro hovered overhead sailing his sword over his head in attempts to slice young Asa into two. His attempts surely pended on the mans next movement.

Asa’s eyes filled with the light the sage began to emit as he floated upwards into the sky. He seemed to be in control of whatever he wanted to be, except Asa. Asa would not be manipulated by this so called sage. Forcing him to fight a child? Ridiculous. The boy wasn’t of the same mind it seemed though. Apparently his parents had been killed and he sought the sharingan for revenge. Asa’s crimson eyes gazed at the boy. He knew all to well how it felt to lose a parent in the battlefield. He had been unfortunate enough to be with his when they fell. But the boy was mistaken if he thought a sharingan was powerful enough to satiate his lust for revenge. Revenge was a beast that grew the more you fed it. This boy was becoming something that he still had time to avoid.

“Kid, you don’t want to do this. Power doesn’t come from the sharingan, and it doesn’t buy you revenge. Revenge isn’t something you should be thinking about. When someone close to you dies in this world the only option is to move forward and take it as a challenge. A challenge to do better then they did. To live in spite of their demise. Your parents wouldn’t want you lusting after murder would they?”

Asa’s words had taken on a tone of plead somewhere during the miniature speach. He meant it as words of wisdom. He had been through something similar all those years ago. His father had relied on the sharingan and a mist wielding ninja had overwhelmed him because of it. That is where Asa got his passion for not relying on his visual prowess alone. The boy seemed undeterred. Asa’s eyes picked up his departure from his starting location, but the boy was quick. His sharingan couldn’t quite match up. As soon as the boy had moved, handseals began forming as his eyes searched. He’d use a technique that would hopefully stop the boy without much injury. He wasn’t bad, just ignorant of what he needed to do with his life.

As Asa’s seals completed he finally found the boy above. With his armor dawned it was too late to move completely out of the way of his blade. Shifting his weight, the blade struck home on his right shoulder. It sunk in about an inch, cracking the earthen material. It nearly penetrated into his armored clothing. This boy’s strength was impressive, however his tactics would need some work. He was still young after all. What he had in physical attributes wouldn’t help him if he couldn’t learn to apply them properly.

The boy’s feet still hovered over the ground as Asa unleashed a blast of earth from his gullet. There was almost no where for the boy to move as he floated there, and the earth clod would be directed at his chest. He knew the power he put forth into the clod wasn’t as much as he could muster, probably only enough to knock the boy back, but he’d be weighted down by it should he be struck. Whether or not the sword that was lodged in his earth armors shoulder would be knocked back with him remained to be seen. Either way, the armor would begin to mend itself together once more.

“Kid, we don’t have to do this. Sharingan isn’t the answer to your problems. You need to realize that I understand more about wanting revenge then you, and it isn’t something you should live for. Believe me”

His hands formed seals in front of him whether or not the boy was pushed back made no difference. He held them out, almost as a warning, while he pleaded for peace between himself and the young man.

Description: The next stage of evolution for the Sharingan involves two tomoe, improving upon the Uchiha's current skills and adding new ones. Amongst others, it allows the Uchiha to track the movement of an opponent and do some minor reading of an opponents attack, as well as pierce Genjutsu and see the surrounding reality for what it really is. While the eye is not refined enough to see the tenketsu and chakra circulatory system like the Byakugan, it can view the movement and flow of chakra, as well as lingering traces of foreign chakra. This can help them tell if a person is trapped in a Genjutsu, or if an attacker is a real threat or merely a bunshin.
