STAFF SUGGESTIONS

Just a few things cause I've a few words of concern and not complaint. This is in no way a dig at the staff and no i don't feel like i'm superior and know what's best.

1. Some staff have college work and are thus busy.

I understand this whole heartedly having just finished up university myself, my first year to be precise. As such rather than those staff having to worry about their duties because they don't have the time why not simply hire some temp staff. Trusted members who volunteer for a few days to keep on top of things.

2. GMing

This to me should just be a unique position separate from being a Mod. The reasoning for this is simple, posting for various people can be time consuming especially if they are eager as most are. Rather than each mod GMing for x amount of people along with their duties why not just have dedicated GM's.

3. The BM position

I liked this idea and it's kinda a shame it's scrapped. I have no doubt some of the staff are good fight rpers, i also have no doubt some are not so great. As such i hope the staff leaves most battle decisions to the more experienced staff. Ideally having maybe three or four mods only being able to rule in fights would be for the best as there will be less chance of disagreement.

4. Kage's

I have no objection to staff being Kage's, but i worry that this extra duty plus their mod duties will be too much, i believe Res will know where i'm coming from. Some may pull it off magnificently and i hope they do i would just very much like to see a kage assistant position become more mandatory. Kage's have been shown to have assistants or at least some sort of staff.

That's it really, aside from this i'm happy with the staff and the way things are, i hope my thoughts are taken into consideration and any feedback would be welcome.

I agree with this, though Sohyo enjoys GMing I'm sure it will be less of a hassle and things will go by quicker with someone else GMing. Overall I think this a solid post and will help improve the forum and enhance storylines if mods are given specific duties.

I second the GM section, mostly because i've waited multiple days to get a gm. other than that shits all good. ;D

1. No need. This will be forever a recurring problem, people have lives.

2. GM position was never issued cause it's not really a specialized field, and not everyone GMs anyway. People who enjoy it and are good at it GM, those who aren't, don't.

3. BM position was removed because everyone ended up having their say anyway. The decisions work a bit more democratically now, rather than one or two people having the say all.

2, 3. To expound, both areas have a lead mod assigned to it (that's why there are still lead mods) and they have more of a say in the area than any one else. They collate and coordinate accordingly.

4. Kage is an elected (or RPed out) position. Anybody can be Kage if they want and that's not going to change in any way. That being said they themselves decide whether or not they have the time, and want to put forth the effort. If you hate your Kage, kill em'.

1. I meant for periods of time where a number of the staff are going to be inactive, like college. I know people have lives, i have one myself you know.

2. With that going on we're going to be stuck with a small amount of GM's who also are busy doing other things and living their lives.

3. Not everyone should have had their say, they should have left what was up to the BM's, can people not stay in their fields? Democracy is great, it sadly also means alot of discussion and i shudder to think of those less experienced or good at fighting choosing the fate of my char.

4.I have no issues with my Kage, i was just expressing my thoughts.

1. Again, my rebuttal doesn't change. Not everyone will be active when you want them to be, it's just a fact of forum RP. A group of people will always be MIA, it's pointless to hire temps every time.

2. Can't say much more cause I'm just a mod. GMing is a waning thing to do. And again, people are not gonna be active all the time and specifically when you want them to. People are as active as they can be.

3. Obviously you missed the part where I explained that the Lead Battle Mod and Fina himself have the most major say in battles. The other Mods are there for fresh pairs of eyes and perspectives, everyone's perspective is taken into consideration, but obviously we're not so nubile as to leave the final say to a lesser battle experienced Mod over a more experienced one.

addendum: Our staff size will likely not increase, because to do so would to have a huge ratio of staff to members. Though we are a big site, we aren't that big. There are always slow forum times.

to be honest. even though i am gming around 6+ threads... its not me who's being the inactive one, its the actual member thats being inactive. Im not sure about all of the other staff but me and Kii are the only one's gming and that accounts for over 12+ people... so tbh, we're doing good. The system is fool-proof and if we continue to keep changing the rules of our moderation ranks then we will have a breakdown in our muse.

Focus more on role play, and less on moderation. Thats up to fina.

This is exactly how it works actually. Though Fina said the duty falls onto all moderators, I'm only allowing certain ones to mod battles. The reason I had the position of BM dissolved was because they were meant to be exclusive to modding battles and not able to cover other staff duties. With the position dissolved, Genbu and Jae are doing battles and GMing, Comatose is doing battles and customs, etc. To an extent, this addresses some of the other issues you mentioned as well.

Solid suggestions guys. It's a slow time of the year, but that means nothing - NRP staff is still burning the midnight oil! However, suggestions are always welcome.

Thank you Fina. I am pleased with the response i have got from both members and the staff. I will of course always air my thoughts and will always gladly listen to comments on them.
