Limit: As stated in the special note, the blade must come in direct contact with the jutsu to negate its effects. Techniques that hold no physical substance (I.E genjutsu and things like that) are unaffected by the blade's ability. Furthermore, the ability to negate the jutsu stems from the chakra it automatically takes from the user, equivalent to the opposing technique.
Special notes: Hebi is extremely corrosive to sources of chakra. The blade is capable of flat out negating any and all sources of chakra it comes in direct contact with. The blade can be used to stem jutsu as they approach, negating their force, then form, and finally nature as though they never had any to begin with. The blade itself will not effect targets when cut on any significant level unless the blade remains in direct contact.

The blade's unique chakra nature completely negates any chakra usage by the user while the sword is in possession. This does not require the weapon to be drawn in hand. It simply requires that Hebi be anywhere in physical possession. The user is not able to tap into any chakra-oriented attacks, such as ninjutsu, fuuinjutsu, genjutsu, or even some taijutsu (such as hien).

The user is still subject, however, to external sources of chakra affecting their person.

Description: The particularly strange claymore appears to be as unique as the role it plays would suggest. Every half foot portion of the weapon is segmented, broken into a total of eight pieces that normal fit together very neatly, not unlike a standard sword. However, with a single handseal, the user can release the segments which extend and whip at the whim of thin steel wires binding them together with their subordinate segments. When extended, the blades increase their reach about four times their natural length (20 feet).

The weapon itself is the biggest drawback to the user, limiting their abilities to purely taijutsu-orientated assaults and defenses. More basic ninjutsu such as the academy techniques, or shunshin no jutsu are still applicable; however, anything beyond that point is rendered useless.

It should also be noted that Hebi's negating ability is not an area effect, but rather a single-target application. It would not be able to negate wide-scale attacks or supplementary techniques, such as baku suishouha, kirigakure no jutsu, or techniques of similar size.

Finally, when elongated, Hebi will function in an identical manner to Sword Hunter Chou's final blade from Rurouni Kenshin.

You can specify your the owner, no one else can own, etc, in the "cost" department because there wouldn't be a cost, obviously. Btw, its overall length would be 20 feet since it extends into a whip-like object.

As it says in the spoiler, it has three to determine what level of jutsu the blade is capable of negating. Unless you want a b-ranked sword capable of snuffin' out S-ranked jutsu.

It just seemed to balance out the weapon.

The effects seem like something one would have to do some work for, in terms of finding the weapon or something. I'm not comfortable with giving away a weapon that powerful for nothing, regardless of how balanced it is. It's effects are probably better than most relics people have to quest for are, with no jutsu or technique requirement to propagate the effects.

The effect (it has only one) is probably one of the simplest there is in the Naruto universe. Furthermore, there isn't another custom weapon that will render the user incapable of performing anything aside from academy techniques, movement based ninjutsu (I.E shunshin), or pure taijutsu.

The only thing that really makes this sword powerful is the fact that 99.9% of the population on this forum won't take the time to simply set a trap to where Hebi is useless. It can't protect the character from all sides at once (as I've said, I don't plan on making a vortex technique for it), which means it can only negate what I see coming and direct it at. Furthermore, it doesn't negate natural phenomena even if the catalyst was chakra (I.E you make something explode it's not going to eat the explosion).

Most importantly, it's negating powers scale. I'm willing to make the XP required for each rank-up double, as well. Like I said in the c-box, I've got no intention on making this some unbeatable weapon. It's simply a very taijutsu-friendly sword.

There wasn't a problem with Hiromasa's sword (which I now own) that could shoot a five meter wide blade of water out that could cut through almost anything, and it was a b rank sword. It had no draw backs to the user, and he could use that technique while simultaneously casting whatever it was he wanted. That sword aside, with the exception of Kubikiri Bouchou (maybe), all of the seven swords of the mist are more potent than Hebi as well. I'm sure we're all familiar with their effects, so I won't list them.

The problem I have is that whenever you're fighting an up-close ninjutsu fighter such as hozuki and kaguya, who use chakra in their taijutsu based attacks, would mean that it would negate the use of their chakra and render their attacks useless. It seems a little extreme without even having an event to obtain it, where others would be out for the take of it as well.

So. I'm not too comfortable with it either.

So. I'm not too comfortable with it either.

How does a Kaguya use chakra in their taijutsu? They make bones come out of their body - not chakra extensions. Once the bones are there, they're there. It's not like they need to constantly stimulate the chakra in order to keep them there.

The only time they'd use their "chakra" again would be to make the bones shrink and come back in.

As for the other clan, I don't know what they do or who they are. Elaborate a bit? However, I'm pretty sure Hebi won't apply to them, either.

Again, the effect of this sword isn't as great as you all are trying to make it sound. It does not effect internal chakra usage (I.E hyuugas can still use jyuuken, etc). Unless you're externally manifesting it, Hebi won't really be able to do much.

PS: Thank you for underlining the second part and making my argument even stronger. If you read clearly, it says that it negates the USER'S chakra upon possession. This means that as long as I have it anywhere touching my body, I can't use jutsu.

Because of what you told me in the pm I really can't see this being accepted as a personal weapon only because it allows you to break down ninjutsu creations into their basic form - such as a puddle of water, for water clones, or as you said - "a pile of lava" for a lava clone.

I'm sorry that I couldnt' be the one to accept your weapon but it does seem a little over powered for me. Ill have to agree with coma on this one.

I decided to remove the two additional ranks, making it only able of negating B-rank techniques or lower. Everything else has remained the same.

Here's my opinion the sword - the things that it will need to get accepted.

Firstly, the sword itself has to come into contact with the chakra form, meaning that simply carrying it on your person will not be enough to provide you this protection. I will reiterate this - the sword must touch the technique. This also means that attacks that don't make direct contact with the sword (Genjutsu in particular) cannot be effected by the ability of the sword. I'd be okay with you creating a technique that channels the effect of the sword through you momentarily (Thus Genjutsu negation) but without an actual technique I can't allow you this much protection for no effort.

Secondarily, the effect of the sword needs to have some sort of drawback towards the user. An easy thing that I could think of is that the Hebi's nature feeds off of your own chakra while you're wielding it, requiring you to use just as much chakra as the opponent used to negate the effect of the technique (meaning if they used a B Rank technique, you have to use a B Rank chakra to block it). Because of this drawback, I'm okay with you being capable of blocking higher ranked techniques by immediately dissipating the chakra forces that make up the technique.

Overall it's an interesting weapon with a lot of potential to do some cool things, but its potency is undeniable - especially potency that you do absolutely no work for. I'm not talking about you getting the weapon for no effort, I'm speaking about just having the weapon in general on your body. Make some modifications to the weapon and it'll be just fine.
