In all honesty, the Samurai did not expect for his arrow's ability to fully strike the beast-man, but it did, and with it came a nugget of joy in that his opponent had been harmed, and then a twinge of regret that his strike had not been fatal as he would have hoped. The beast's momentum was stopped nonetheless, which was a very productive consequence as well as humorous as the beast scurried away from the flames. It confirmed further Akio's belief that this was a more unnatural being, animals tended to fear fire far more than humans had.
His quick reaction granted him an extension of time, the former two and a half seconds that he was acting under extended further as the animal retreated. In that time, he strapped the bow onto his back as it was positioned prior. His opponent within ten meters was for all intents within his effective close meter range. Now he would be allowed to truly shine with the abilities he most honed, his blade-work.
The beast decided to execute a show of power, the bestial roar of wolves and other manic beasts well represented within his maw as he acted upon what was likely instinct. Akio knew that the roar was for him, or on a less likely expectation, a roar for help.
On the outside, Akio seemed as stalwart as ever. The embodiment of everything a Samurai should have been, joyful in battle and unwavering in the sight of hardship and evil. On the inside, while his plates trembled about his fleshy interior, he was as terrified as anyone else would be.
The beast continued it's fervor of actions, Akio could see that past the flames he was prepared to go on, even going further into whatever transformation had begotten him, all the more strange considering his nudity.
The beast faced him, and through whatever pain it was feeling from the flames, paid no attention or mercy as he leapt into the air and cleared the fire. The Samurai though was prepared. This was where he excellent. Claws and reflexes were no match to his Kenjutsu. The wolf-man, beast-man, or whatever he was began to descend. His formerly impressive speed was no match for gravity however, and the speed of which he fell could not be augmented. He fell with the same speed as any.
That was Akio's opportunity. The Samurai's own reaction would be far greater than gravity. As the wolf fell, claws bearing down on him, the polished steel of his katana, polished further by the enhancements he honed with his bladed profession would cut the man in two before an eye could blink. Blocking the strike would prove unimpressive, whatever barrier the man could afford being likely cut as well, and moving while in the air proving difficult, the Samurai was sure.
Akio specifically drew his blade, and activated Kyuushen, sharpening it to the most intense levels as it drew. The draw would take him slightly to his own right, drawing his left blade, and the blade surely enough to cut the man's waist in two, as well as keep him away from any planned attack.
