[/i] Jiyuu said, his tone deep and brooding. Naota’s slaying of the child was accidental, as it occurred during battle against rebels, but the Hokage chose not to mention that. Truthfully, Jiyuu did not know why he excluded the part of the incident being an accident – perhaps the man simply wished to be amused in a sickeningly gleeful way. The Hungerer Cult’s rampage in Konohagakure left the Shikigami with a rather dark sense of humor.
”Yes, yes, I know Naota. He killed a child.”
Jiyuu shrugged off the comment about the Raikage. He has never seen the man, despite the two villages being in an alliance. Still, the Shikigami had no respect for him whatsoever because the Raikage chose not to fight – and a man who refuses to raise his blade is worth less than the dirt on a whore’s corner-lounging feet. ”The issue regarding Naota will be deteremined by the success of my campaign.”[/i] Without another word the Hokage turned on his heel and went on his way, regardless of whether or not Kuroso followed.
The mountainous terrain of wore heavily on Jiyuu’s wounded legs, each step causing a slight burn, growing each moment. After some time of walking, the pain finally faded – not because the wounds healed, but rather because the legs have grown numb. Such a pleasant sensation, the cessation of pain, and upon noticing, a thin smile spread across Jiyuu’s face, an expression unusual for him. Yet, it did not last long, and the grim frown returned.
As the mountains descended, trees spotted the landscapes, their mighty branches falling against the horizon. Light gusts of winds send the leaves into a sway, each move of their dance sending a silent rustle through the landscapes. During the travel, various beasts scurried through the brushes, some running in sheer fright, others looking upon the traveler with a curious gaze. Jiyuu grew weary but could not yet come to a halt, for his home land was still in the distance.
Finally, after numerous hours of travel, the borders of Hi no Kuni loomed not so far in the distance. Plains separated the two lands at this crossing, hills arcing downward to allow for far sight into the distance. Even further along the path, the trees returned, greeting Jiyuu as he returned to his lands.
