How was Asa going to set this right? It wasn’t fair that these men who were working to repair the village were being treated in this manner. They needed a place to live, otherwise they would grow weaker by the day due to exposure. If these men were weakened, or became infirmed then the rebuilding efforts would be grounded to a halt. It was a perplexing predicament. The drizzle was quickly turning to rain, and Asa knew a down pour was on the way. Looking at the area near the group of men, he thought he had an idea.
The foundation of the building that had previously been there was still in tact, but the rubble had never been cleared and the structure had never been built back up. It would do nicely for Asa’s needs. Clapping his hands he addressed the men.
“Listen guys, I know you’re tired and distressed, but I have an idea. Help me for a little bit and we’ll get something to remedy this housing trouble you’re having.”
The men looked skeptical, but Asa was a chunnin. Even if they didn’t know what he was talking about they would probably trust him based solely on his rank. Each man pulled themselves to their feet and began following Asa’s instructions. They all began pulling boards and garbage off of the buildings foundation, being careful not to fall into the hole that was the basement. The rain was picking up, spurring the men to work faster. Any wood was to be tossed into the basement. Asa pulled used his boulder technique to pull a large square boulder out of the ground where another house whose foundation had collapsed had once stood. The boulder he pulled was roughly 30 meters in every dimension. The hole it vacated was where they would throw the other garbage from the wreck they worked on. Asa placed the boulder in the middle of the street. Hopefully it would work.
He waited for the men to finish clearing it sufficiently. Then forming handseals, he would put his hand on the ground. Multiple spikes of earth would shoot out from the sides of the foundation. The jutted out, creating what could be considered a fairly level floor. It would need some polish, maybe some carpet, but for the time being it would do. Only one gap in the far corner was left open. Then, Asa formed another string of handseals and got to work on the boulder he had previously removed from the ground.
