timeskip: five hours

Even after five long hours, I still found myself perched upon the outer gates - eyes crimson like blood, and narrowed to borderline slits. It was still relatively calm in Sunagakure, let alone on the border of Kaze no Kuni. To be perfectly honestly, I was on the verge of trudging over the line of lethargy before I was shaken awake-- quite literally, shaken.

By the time my body adjusted to sheer force of whatever seemed so hell bound to knock me off my podium, the dim silhouettes of three bodies, clearly having something to do with the force, neared the gates. It took me me a moment for my eyes to correctly align on the shadows due to the time of day, but I nevertheless, in the span of what seemed like a mere moment, forced myself out of the gale wind; using sheer speed to propel myself forward and over the gate.

Such momentum, coupled with pure grace and swift ascension, allowed me to fall and land precisely; the result of such bringing my body a mere few feet away from the attempting-intruders. My eyes never left each of their dimly lit forms, my Sharingan allowing me to pierce each and everyone of their bodies; their chakra pools, their secrets, their souls - all falling under the impeding gaze of my Kekkei Genkai.

The first of the trio of groups, a grunt I could only but assume, was the first to speak with my appearance. His voice was deep, somewhat even sketchy (despite their already dark appearance), yet drastically young - perhaps he was a child? "Move aside, we got business with the Sand." Apparently, not only did he lack the proper age, he also lacked intelligence. Speaking with such boldness, in my village? A pity; I hated slaying children.

"I can only tell you one time, leave now."

Unlike them, my guard never even fluctuated.

Special Information: Repeatable. Any difficulty setting may partake, but keep in mind that if the village is attacked during your stay you may be in danger.

To say that I was ‘enthused’ about having to be back on the job would be a complete lie.

To be rank, I had absolutely no desire, nor any real inclination to do any work – if only I had been given to the green light to invade Konoha, I would be there instead of at the gates of Sunagakure. In retrospect, being an ANBU of the village, moreso, head ANBU of the village wasn’t as fulfilling and glamorous as the name made it out to seem. Though it did have its benefits, such as unlimited access to virtually any section of the village, coalesced with the power to hold authority even over lands outside the village, it wasn’t worth the effort.

Our main job was simple: Guard the village, the gates, and the people with our lives -- no matter the circumstance. At first, I enjoyed it. T'was not that long after, however, that it became dull. Slouching—trekking, even—I made myself back to the gate I often was in charge of protecting. Being the superior force and the sole authoritative figure in the force, perhaps even more than Youka herself, I was in charge of directing the youth’s to their correct positions.

It was fulfilling, a grand feeling even, bossing around my younger brethren. They were all essentially retarded when it came to war itself, but if anything, they were the most prominent of their classes -- still, however, falling way below the standard I set in the academy.

Needlessly to say, seconds turned into minutes, minutes into hours; nothing, not even a silent cascade of wind, attempted to disrupt and test our mantel. It was good, for the youth's and for the village. However, silence only further plagued my already cloudy thoughts - let alone the fact that whilst I waited, doing nothing, the killer of my very own brother was still roaming the village.

It brought me much displeasure, but I never allowed it to pierce my countenance.

You see, on any other occasion I would have questioned her "coast visit", especially considering the brink of war Sunagakure was in with the other nations. However, to be perfectly honest, I absolutely did not care right now - my thoughts were on one thing only, I did not have time to worry about what she did on her own personal time. Whether she had a personal body guard or not, I did not press the subject.

Instead, I listened carefully for her reply; her tone, and her sheer will power to be the stoic Kazekage that we all needed right now, would influence just how much information I relented. For the most part she did well, far better than I, a person accustomed to death and fighting, had been. "Your guess is as good as mine on the matter. I can only assume Konoha had something to do with it, we were nearly on their bouders."

I paused once again, this time for Youka's sake and not my own; I didn't expect her to process the information immediately, especially after receiving such tragic news. Nevertheless, after a moment or two I continued, my voice stable and clear - the first time since speaking. "I'm going to kill them all Youka, none of them will be spared."

My fingers stopped shaking, the thoughts and voices in my head ignored to the point of silence. "I'm going to make them all watch as I kill there wives and children, and anyone even remotely close to them. Then, when they feel like I do, I'll kill them. All of them."

And just like that, my receiver went dead.

It seemed my efforts had come to fruition.

Needless to say, I was quite glad to hear her voice - even if it was distorted and de-harmonized due to a technical device. It served as almost a cure for my obvious unstableness, soothing my mind just as it had done many times in the past; without it, my schizophrenia would have no doubt drove me straight to madness.

Though only a couple moments ago I had sought her presence with much hasteness, now that I found her, rather, I seemed to lose all the sense of urgency I once had - taking a few moments, minutes even, to collect my thoughts. "Don't worry, I'm fine. Where are you?" My demeanor had changed drastically since I had first spoken; another symptom of schizophrenia, most likely.

'Fine' was a pure lie. I was quite the opposite from fine, and even speaking-- no, even thinking, brought back memories of the scene I had stumbled upon en route to Konoha. It had been painfully evident that a fight had occured, and though no body was found, I knew of the outcome. All there was left was blood, fatal amounts of spilled blood - I would never be able to rid myself of the image.

I sighed somewhat before continuing, my fingers-- though shaking violently --making an effort to caress my temples. "Youka, they killed him. Shiro is dead." Speaking the words alone made me flinch, they brought a bitter taste to my tongue.

Wherever she was, I hoped someone would be there for her.

It had been with a jolt that my appearance was made known through the village. Though I was skilled and trained to stay relatively hidden and callous at all times, my stoic facade had long been dropped - in its place, a regard befitting and quite often never witnessed, was that of pure agony. It was with this that my unstable psyche was finally presented, plaguing me once more with thoughts and voices that had gone unnoticed for years due to therapy - therapeutics, that until this day, had done its job perfectly.

After many minutes utilized to bring me back to the center of the village, I found myself once again forging a path into my home; it was a shared building, often visited by many of my brethren. More importantly, however, it was the home of none other than the Kazekage herself.

Though also considered the Head Quarters of Sunagakure, I entered and continued as if it contained no one but myself; my advancement careless and swift until the inquisitive glance by Hikaru killed my movement completely. She was a woman of high regard, in the sense that she kept and was in control of running the building; however, her impeding gaze did nothing to soothe my already frenzied demeanor. Had my resolve to find Youka not been so high, she would have been killed - regardless of the ANBU and shinobi around.

Instead, I continued on through the building, avoiding the masses of villagers plaguing its floors before entering the second floor. There, without even providing the proper identification, I entered the hidden floor; from there, Youka's own personal bedroom. When no one was found despite the time of day, I moved on to her office.

It didn't matter if even someone of the likes of a Daimyo was present in the room, I kicked it open regardless - my eyes thinning to slits when the appearance of Youka was never found. With no other option, I turned to the receiver I had bought prior to my re-entrance into the village; it had many frequencies, but I tried it nevertheless. "Youka, where the fuck are you?" When no one replied, I changed the channel.

I was bound to get the correct one eventually.

Nothing but the swaying silhouette of my cloak detailed my arrival back into my lands, my face hidden and my ANBU mask, tied and hung from my Sunagakure Hitai Ate, the only thing notably visible upon my person.

I was home.

Much like Koji, Soratsu found himself upon the borders of Hi no Kuni - lost, in some regard, after spending most of his day searching for the village prominently known as Konohagakure. It had come to the point where he had returned to their rendezvous to gather himself, and upon reaching it's location, followed by a vast search of the land, deducted that a fight had occurred.

It wasn't that hard to put two and two together from there Thus, with the might of warrior fallen from grace, he returned back to his home - his determination and resolve ignited.
