Youka blinked curiously at the expression on her courier's face. True, it was odd that she was asking someone with very little experience to escort her on such a dangerous mission, but it worked out in her favor. The Raikage would not feel overly threatened by their appearances—perhaps even humbled that she came to see him herself—and the alliance would have a higher chance of working smoothly. Sure, she could easily have asked an entourage of ANBU to come with them, but there was no fun in that. Instead of expressing her ideas, the Shodaime flashed a wider smile at the boy. "Like I said, I trust you with my life, Atsui-san. I believe you will have no difficulty keeping me safe on this long journey."

Shall we leave now?

That was a good question. "Just give me a moment to make some arrangements ... I will be right back." She stood up, rolling Sou's World Map as she did so. After that was safely tucked under her arm, Youka turned and stepped toward the door that would eventually lead to her living quarters. She disappeared into this door, closing it firmly behind herself; whatever the kunoichi had done, when she finally returned to her office, she was without the map and sporting a heavy travel cloak.

"Let us go." She waited for Atsui to leave the room via the main entrance and then followed him out, locking the door behind her.

How many months had it been since I last laid foot in the Kage Tower? I couldn't even recall the last time I was here due to the sheer amount of things I had done over the course of many months. Luckily, the layout of the tower had not changed much and I soon found the reception desk. Before talking to the receptionist, I first checked the mission board to see if there was anything of interest I could preemptively take. Much to my surprise, I found a plethora of missions pertaining to the elimination of enemy Shinobi. Luckily for me, I had just slain four Nuke Nin and captured a fifth. Walking to the desk, I immediately began the report of my recent conquest. "Madam, I have four bounties I wish to collect while also using the four kills to complete four missions." Handing in the four heads of the Nuke I had slain to a nearby ANBU, I waited for them to check the their identities before collecting my rewards.

As I waited for the receptionist to gather my rewards, I remembered that I had also caught a Nuke-Nin and he was still wrapped by my snakes. Though I wasn't sure if the missions to kill Shinobi also accounted for those I caught, I found no harm in trying. If I couldn't collect the bounty on his head while he was alive, I'd kill him in a few moments to collect the reward. "I also caught a Kusa Nuke-Nin. He's wrapped in my snakes and is for the most part unable to fight. You can have him. I'll be collecting the bounty on his head and the mission reward for killing a Shinobi of his stature. Pretty sure capture is just as good as dead." With that, I would hand over the nearly incapacitated Kusa Nuke-Nin to several ANBU before waiting for my reward. And just in case, I made sure to inject more venom into him so he'd really have no chance of escape.

Once finished with handing in all my kills and completed missions, I'd contemplate on my next move. Seeing as how Gene was searching for another Nuke Yuki-Nin, it would have been easy to fool him with the slashed Yuki headband I possessed by then another idea popped into my head. Since my leave many months ago, there had been two new Kazekage's. It was the perfect opportunity to gauge the new Kazekage and see just how she might be of benefit to myself. "Receptionist, I wish to meet with the new Kazekage. Since I left many months ago, the only Kazekage I had met was Shiro. I wish to pay my respects to the new Kage and explain my extensive leave of absence." After saying what was needed, I would wait with Gene for an answer from the Kazekage about whether she wished to meet me or not. The only problem now was how would I be able to deal with the new Kazekage and Gene at the same time.

"Well, Well, well, despite the ungodly heat this place isn't half bad.

Gene randomly spoke with excitement brimming from his voice as he lightly treaded through the streets of Sunagakure. It bustled with cultivated activity, something that reminded Gene of his own home. Judging from Yuhwa's information and intentions she was to meet with the Kazekage, so in Gene's mind, that only meant one thing, heading for the Kage tower. The tower itself was opulent, rising above all other buildings like a playground bully, it was beautiful how the suns rays caused the sands to shimmer with golden hues.

Several lazied footfalls carried him within the Kagekaze's residence behind Yuhwa herself, looking down at the ensnared Nuke-nin every few moments while trying to hold in a massive outburst of laughter. He needed to compose himself, he knew he couldn't be taken seriously by the kazekage if he announced himself as this goofy and easily amused shinobi. So at the drop of a dime the air around him shifted every so quickly, becoming cold and more malevolent than he possibly could, though by now Yuhwa had probably seen through his ruse, piercing his mask, but still unable to clearly see what exactly laid underneath.

By now Gene had already fully dressed himself-namely while lazily strolling through Sunagakure's streets- with his black T-shirt and leather coat. It'd have been inappropriate of him to just leisurely walk around another persons home half naked, Gene was surprised that Yuhwa mentioned nothing of it before reaching the residence itself. However, more pressing matters began to flit about within the forefronts of Gene's mind, presumably the fact that -if this woman's information were true- Gene's search for his mentor would finally have reached its climax. Bolts of exhilaration coursed through every inch of his body despite his physical exterior showing otherwise. Quietly, he stood a reasonable distance behind Yuhwa and noted not so move in quick, sporadic motions, for it could alert the already cautious ANBU giving them more incentive to take lethal action.

It was the moment of truth, he just needed to be patient, even if it meant being as idle as a statue.

My mind throbbed as my senses clung to the reality before me no longer within the state of a dream. My eyes, though rendered useless, could capture enough information that let me know two ANBU guards were now carrying me away. I could feel the puncture of yet another bite from the snake that had brought me here . . . . . shit. There it went again. Vomitting up god knows what. I hadn’t eaten or drank anything since I’d been on the journey with Tae and the other kid whose name I don’t know. My head turned back a bit as I were being drug along from the ANBU. There she was – the same shinobi that had taken me prisoner. Though being taken prisoner was something I hadn’t written down on my list of things to do I liked her style and the way that she’d taken me down. The purpose of me allowing myself to be wrapped up by her snakes was so that I could get a taste of her abilities if I were to encounter someone of her caliber in the future. . . if there even was one for me at this point.

I wonder what I would become in suna – there were many possibilities.

Imagine the surprise on the assistant's face when an unfamiliar female shinobi and a male strode confidently into the residence, dragging along behind them the body of another. He was not simply restrained, he had been coiled in the grasp of what appeared to be snakes. She was just a substitute, really—a temporary worker until the Shodaime could hand-choose another to take on this job, which always came with a heightened risk in addition to mountains of paperwork. Whatever happened to the old assistants, well, she certainly did not want to know.

"O-okay," she stammered, standing up out of her chair as the heads were exchanged with the ANBU that stood a sentry-like guard at one side of her desk. There was also the matter of the apparent Nuke nin who had been captured alive, and whose identity and condition the others seemed to be immensely curious about. Who was this woman? An Oinin for Sunagakure? That was simply the only rationalization that made sense at this point, considering the mass amount of shinobi she had slaughtered for the sand. An ANBU in a Kitsune mask strode over to her desk and nodded. "It checks out. You'll need to withdraw 72,837 ryo in bounty in addition to the mission rewards," he purred, making her shiver.

Embarrassment showed on her features as she turned away from them and moved to the vault behind her desk, which housed a certain stock of ryo that was replenished when necessary, as to avoid keeping too much in one place, at one time. The mission rewards were required to be memorized by assistants such as herself; she quickly managed to calculate the total amount to hand over, and was instantly jealous. Why had she chosen a desk job that paid such a low amount again? Turning back to the shinobi after closing the vault, she handed over a rather large bag.

"Here you go. 82,837 ryo ... all for you. Enjoy." She was glad that this ordeal was over, and quickly dropped back into her chair, but—but the Jounin was addressing her again. Eyes narrowed. "The Kazekage is too busy right now for personal visits, I'm sure. There is vital interaction going on between Sunagakure and Kumogakure. You'll need to come back later."

"Hmm. That is news to me."

The Shodaime Kazekage herself stood on the other side of the room, as if she had just extracted her body from the staircase directly behind her. Indeed, Youka had been planning to come check with the assistant to see if she had seen Asato around, but this development was far more interesting. At least, for now. The ANBU were in the process of dragging the nuke ninja up to the secondary headquarters upstairs, where they would be able to hold him in a cell until she saw fit to visit him and decide his fate. As of right now, mulling over punishments did not sit well with her.

"You say you knew my brother Shiro, then? It's nice to meet you. I am Etsuko Youka."

It'd not be long before I was presented with my rewards that I quickly placed into my bag. How I had managed to shove the massive bag of money into a pouch not even 1/10th of its size was beyond me but I digressed. There were more important matters at hand such as the meeting with the Kazekage. I had been anticipating this meeting ever since I heard of Shiro's death and the recent death of the second Kazekage. I couldn't help but wonder how in the span of a couple months, Sunagakure had managed to lose two Kage's. I couldn't help but think that since my leave, the village had gotten weaker to the point Kage's had become nothing but fodder.

Then again, I couldn't really blame the death of Shiro on the village. He was always a mischievous one who left the village whenever he so pleased despite being Kazekage. It wasn't that much of a surprise to me that he died to the hands of an enemy Shinobi. I was actually glad to an extent that he met his demise as he was always an annoying one to manipulate; his constant abandoning of ideas and tasks making it so difficult to control him. I hoped the new Kazekage would not be as hard to figure out and I'd actually be able to make use of her. I knew that dangers that came with such an idea but if I got my way, I'd be able to move about much easier.

Having heard that the Kazekage was likely heading towards Kumo, I thought about pursuing after her until a voice caught my attention. Turning to the direction of the voice, I laid my eyes on a girl younger than me and almost my height. "This is the Kazekage?" I thought to myself as I looked in surprise. I had heard the Kazekage was one of the youngest Kages the village has ever had but this was a shocker. "Why is the Kage always some kid?" I began to wonder if the village councilors were pedophiles who enjoyed having a kid at their command.

Before I could continue this incredibly disturbing train of thought, the Kazekage spoke -- introducing herself to be the sister of Shiro. "Yes, Kazekage-sama. I was an acquaintance of Shiro. I am sorry to hear about his lost." Upon hearing her name and relationship to Shiro, I couldn't help but feel annoyed. If she was anything like her brother, I'd have one hell of a time trying to manipulate her.

Today didn't really seem like the best day to be showing up at the Kage's residence. Or at least, right now didn't. Between the flustered way the temporary assistant looked, the two newly arriving shinobi and their curious 'cargo', and how one of those two was actually engaging the Kazekage in conversation all seemed to add up to a 'bad timing' scenario.

Some people just didn't care though. Enter Ethereal Loussier, a crimson-haired youth who'd obviously missed the 'wait politely off to the side' air the room seemed to be giving off, striding purposefully inside with his left thumb hooked around the pocket the rest of his hand was pushed inside, and a piece of ink-adorned paper in the other. No doubt the latest mission we was hoping to pick up. He'd actually gotten half-way to the reception table before noticing the odd atmosphere around him, eyes flicking up from the floor as his intent stride faltered into a pause, brought on by an unfamiliar voice saying the trigger words 'Kazekage-Sama', but only because it meant greetings were in order. One couldn't expect to go without giving at least a small 'hello' to their sensei without the assurance that they'd be getting some grief about it later, or so Ethereal told himself. Even if that sensei was the same age as him.

But even though he'd proven to be utterly oblivious to the rest of what had been going on, he was at the very least able to tell that now probably wasn't the best time to interrupt. Actually, there was never a good time to interrupt. That was rude. So instead of actually saying something to her, he merely kept his eyes on her while he approached the assistant's desk, using his peripheral vision to navigate there without bumping into anyone or anything - namely the two newcomers - before setting the outline of the mission he planned to take down on the table without so much as offering a single glance at the assistant herself, much less a word or two, arms folding across his chest in silent patience as he awaited either the acknowledgement of his teacher or the approval of his mission.

Mission Information: Fujioka, Kiyoshi. This is the name of a rogue Sunagakure no Sato genin who was caught trying to sneak into the Kazekage’s vault. No doubt he had plans to steal ryo or village secrets for malicious intent. It was recently reported that Kiyoshi escaped his cell at the Sunagakure prison. As the village gates are being guarded he has not been able to escape. A skilled shinobi or group of novices is required to capture the convict. Be on your guard, as he is a skilled Fuuton user. Bring him in.. dead or alive.
Special Information: Repeatable. Any difficulty setting is allowed, as you will be the one(s) playing out the criminal. However, you are expected to make it believable—no one is invincible. There is a chance that you may be injured.

‘aaaaah!’ I yelled out towards the unwelcoming darkness that lingered out in the holding room. I was really the only person here alongside some drunkard who was resting nicely on a bench beside me. ‘tch !’ I responded walking up to the bars. That snake girl had really taken all my shit. Hell if she had left me with something it would have been the last thing she laid her eyes on. There was honestly no way for me to get out of this place without making a fool of myself . . . maybe my plans on joining this village were half-thought out as well.

Silver hues manifested upon the tiles of this place – they weren’t durable and neither were the bars but no one was foolish enough to run out and kill themselves that quickly. Just beyond those doors there were a set of stairs that brought you back down to the mission-acceptance of the tower. That’s where I’d have seen tae take her rewards plus my own to her own liking. It was also the only place which held information about her, or him, or whatever it was that captured me. Teeth gritted to the maximum – I hadn’t had any intent on terrorizing the village of sand but now. . . did I have a choice?

Thoughts mumbled on towards the back of my sub-conscious for hours as my eyes closed and I meditated.

Mission Information: Fighting is a natural part of the shinobi world, but sometimes there is a lull in battle; a mission might be taken here, a small threat averted there, but otherwise all is peaceful. That is why the Jounin of Sunagakure have come together to suggest a mission: those who wish to gain more experience in combat against another shinobi should come together and spar. Death is not permitted, and will be a punishable offense, but otherwise, go crazy!
Special Information: Repeatable. Requires at least two ninja, but a fight between more than two is also encouraged, as such situations can occur during war.

The look of surprise on the kunoichi's face was mirrored in Youka's own; it was a reaction she could not control, the slight rounding out of her lips and the widening of her eyes. Even still, it was over just as quickly as it came, and her expression flickered back to an attempt at stoic. It should not have been shocking, really—most of the villagers did not understand why someone so young, so female could be their leader. She understood their hesitation at the time, but most of them had come to accept her. It really proved that this woman had not been in the village for quite a long time, and that in itself was suspicious. The Kazekage was the type to always be on guard around strangers, but this was more logic-based.

"Shiro-sama has been dead for quite some time now ... His brother, Soratsu, is currently mad with revenge and working to find the murderer. Please, don't apologize." Her voice was smooth, not a hitch of emotion allowed to break past the mask to show how upset she was over the events. Still, the pity of another person was worthless to her; the words I'm sorry never did soothe her pain. If anything, it made her feel even less like opening up to that particular person.

Blue eyes flickered toward movement in her peripheral vision, slowly followed by a blink as she realized who the culprit was. Ethereal. He had not greeted her, perhaps out of courtesy for the current situation, but he kept his eyes locked on her as he moved across the room. She knew only because her gaze remained on him as well, even going so far as to hold his stare when at last he inquired about a mission. There was a faint quirk to the corner of her lips—a half-smile, in greeting—before her attention was returned to the shinobi she did not know.

"Tell me, why did you bring a Nuke Nin alive here? He would be better off dead ... Unless he has a purpose I cannot see, but that you know. Would you care to explain? Oh! And your name. I never did get it—"

Grasping at every word Youka spoke, there was one part I found particularly interesting and that was the information about Shiro's brother seeking revenge. Not just cause of the content but also the fact she chose to mention this piece of information to me, a random Suna Nin, was odd. This wasn't the type of information someone would normally share nonchalantly so I had to wonder for what reason was I told this information. Did she wish for me to join her brother in trying to find the murderer of her other brother? Or was it just a piece of information she had let out by mistake? Though I was an acquaintance of Shiro, this wasn't something I found desirable.

"Ma'am, I don't think mentioning the actions of your family to me, one of many Shinobi in the village, is a good idea. Even if I happen to know your brother Shiro on some level." I'd say after Youka finished with her questioning. Even if I found this piece of information useful and quite manipulable, I couldn't show interest. My facade would not allow me interest in matters such as this.

"Well, I kept these Nuk--" I'd say while turning to face Gene who I assumed was behind me. Unfortunately, I'd see no such person as I turned and for a moment was utterly confused; causing me to end my sentence abruptly. Not only was Gene gone but the ANBU who had been following me to make sure Gene and the captured one were under watch had disappeared. How I had failed to notice two people leaving puzzled me but nevertheless, I wondered what happened to the two of them. As if by the hand of god, mere moments later, I'd find my answer as the ANBU following me from before returned with . . . alarming news. "Kazekage-sama and Yuhwa-sensei, I have troubling news. The Yuki Nuke-Nin who you brought with you decided to venture out into the desert and died of . . . heat stroke. W-we just found his body.

". . . what?" I'd say to the ANBU out of disbelief at what I heard. It was at this very moment that I was completely at a loss for words. I thought Gene had ventured with me to search for a person of importance and just when he thought he was so close, he opts to kill himself. "What kind of idiot did I happen to meet? He almost makes the captured Nuke-Nin look like a genius." I thought to myself trying to get a clear picture of the situation and formulate a response to the Kazekage.

"Well, Kazekage-sama. I don't really understand what happened to the other guy but I'll try my best to explain. I brought back the Kusa Nuke-Nin alive because I met him while he tried to recruit me into an infiltration mission into Konoha. He wished to steal their scrolls so I thought he might be of use as a bargaining chip with Konoha. As for the one who offed himself, well, he was a Nuke from Yuki who was searching for another Nuke from Yuki. I brought him here so that you might help him and make use of him. And that brings us to the current situation." I had spoken the truth of how I met both Nuke's though I omitted minor details that might reveal my true intentions. Hopefully, this would be enough for her to work with so that I could get a proper reading of her. I had to try and make use of her somehow.
